After a few takes, the director, Garry Marshall wasn’t happy with the scene where Richard Gere simply presents Julia Roberts with the necklace . So he took Gere aside and told him to snap the box shut when Roberts reached for the necklace. Her reaction in the film is 100% genuine!! Also, at 10:33 that was Cameron Diaz! No mention of that, either?! 🤦🏻♂️ F**k all the way off! Whitney Houston’s rendition of “I Will Always Love You” is fantastic - but it was written by Dolly Parton and not written for this movie!!! 🤬

The following year, Elvis wanted to record it but Dolly refused because he wanted half the publishing rights for he song. The song, sung by Dolly, was featured in the 1982 film "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." It was Kevin Costner who called and asked Dolly if the song could be used for "The Bodyguard." She agreed, but didn't know that Whitney Houston was singing it until she heard it on the radio. Before Costner called, Dolly had offered the song to Patti Labelle, but once Whitney's version came out and was such an instant success Labelle decided to pass on the song.

After they found out that song was to be used in Fried Green Tomatoes Kevin Costner suggested I Will Always Love You and played Linda Ronstadt's 1975 cover version and the whole arrangement was based on that version. Somehow Dolly found out about it and sent the composer the lyrics for the final verse that wasn't included in Ronstadt's version.

10:55 that’s the end of the movie, the entire movie is a gem. Just don’t expect the ending that you want, I won’t give it away but it might make you upset. But I watch it ALL THE TIME cause in your 30s you realize the ending is perfect.
