The Cafe with the reptiles in it is my favorite, if I ever have the chance I would really love to eat at a place like that. Some of the foods around Malaysia looks really good. Have an amazing day dāv and merry Christmas tomorrow

Yellow sauce is made from lentils. As the name taufufa already tells you it’s tofu ie soya bean hence taufufa ( a Cantonese) means soyabean curd is a Chinese delicacy
Eating local food in Malaysia is about the fusion of flavors, healthy herbally taste, delicious mixed of cultures and explosion of mouthwatering savory spiciness! You gonna love them... every day is totally different dishes
Welcome to Malaysia. 2:33 Don't know where you get that info but Malaysian cuisine has many influences. Not just Indian. You can see tons of Chinese food as well and both Indian and Chinese cuisines influence Malay cuisine and vice versa. And that's just scratching food from the peninsula of Malaysia (West Malaysia). Then there's the Baba Nyonya cuisine... and indigenous food in East Malaysia (which I believe you wouldn't be exploring... mostly because you don't know where to find the cafes and/or restaurants when you touched down in the capitals of the East Malaysian States in Borneo). 7:27 Daging means meat. But it is usually used to refer to beef. Kicap means soy sauce. 8:03 A bit vain there when eating with our hands is pretty much the culture. 😂 12:20 Tau fu fah is silken soy bean pudding and that dark syrup is most probably gula melaka (palm sugar). It is NOT Indian "inspired", it's Chinese.
Hi... I know this comment is kind of late coming but I really need to say it. Please use the spoon ( and not the fork ) provided in any restaurants to eat your rice ( be it fried rice, mix rice, briyani.....). The fork is for noodles or to hold , usually a protein dish, and kind of cut it to bite sized pieces so its easier to eat with the rice. Enjoyed your vlog tho. Pray you have a wonderful trip... wherever you may be. 🙏🏻
The word 'kicap' was invented in this part of the world to represent fish/soya sauce. Somehow when the word ended up in the US, it became ketchup and more commonly associated with tomato sauce
Taufufa - pudding-like warm tofu the syrup normally made from palm sugar, but if you said it is coffee flavoured, it might be the cafe's unique recipe it is chinese/oriental origin with a local twist (the syrup) the nasi lemak in the mall, in nyonya cendol was not 'really authentic' but a combination of a few 'authentic' local cuisine.. haha.. how would you decypher that? original nasi lemak is the white color rice cooked in coconut milk the green ones is a twist. they added pandan leaves color onto the original nasi lemak the blue ones on the other hand, is a different type of rice dish called Nasi Kerabu.. you gotta research yourself how it looks like.. 😉
Malay is divided into many *clan* n has their own distintcive dish. From northern to east Malaysia every Malay has their recipe.Dont be suprise 😅.Unlike Chinese n Indian food which are similar to other Chinese food in China, Taiwan Singapore so as Indian foods which similarity to Indias' foods ,Malay foods are more distinquish on it own .Have fun in trying Malaysian Foods n beware of *Negeri Sembilan masak lemak* I love it tho 🤭.Its a bomb that explore in your mouth that even some Malaysian cant handle the *fire* 🤣
Perhaps next time, you eat the rice with a spoon. Using a fork for rice, is a western way of eating rice. However, fork or spoon, the taste is awesome.
You just had a bad host / local friend who took you around. Maybe he just doesn't know much about cooking & therefore what he's been eating all his life. Won't even start with the nasi kandar meal you had. But the "eggie flat bread" you had was served with fish curry (the one you liked), dhal (lentil gravy) & sambal (a chili "chutney"). The way locals have it is to have the dhal & the sambal together. As for the taufufa.. it's a soy bean curd ..as in literally "tofu" with a thick sweet syrup. As for "the most" authentic Malaysian meal.. everything you had was truly authentic. Hope you had a good trip! Let me know if you wanna discover more local food. Would love to show you around & thank you for introducing me to Wangs. Didn't know we had a reptile friendly cafe. I gotta check it out! 🤘 Cheers bub! 🍻

Thanks for your comment. No one can know everything about what they encounter while traveling. Experiencing new things is how we learn. I challenge you to go to Mexico or China and know everything about what's in their cuisine before you go. There are plenty of food vloggers who say they don't know what the food is, but let's try it out. So I understand you didn't mean to be rude, but let's keep things in perspective.
