  • Classy blues with Johnny Guitar Watson released in 1953. At the time he was playing piano but would switch to guitar in a year or two. The tasty guitar on this track is played by Wayne Bennett who later would play on many of Bobby Blue Blands’ sides for Duke. Hope you enjoy this early side by the fabulous Watson!

    Wow! Philips portable and a Federal 78! Those were the days! As for the recording I think he sounds a lot like Amos Milburn and his ‘Bad,bad whiskey’

    Alan Freed coined the phrase RocknRoll in 1952. This early R& B
    tune 1953 is early rock-n-roll.
    Watson and others like him laid down the foundation of rock-n-roll for others who followed,to build on. In just a few more years rock-n-roll would be a phenomena

      Ary Dabirnia Hot Little Mama is one of my favs to. Got the 45 which I often play.

      @@Glendoras that's awesome to have the original, I picked up the album driving through Arkansas. I think it's a different recording on the album though.
