I have a question. If I choose the standard mileage deduction can I potentially write off anyting else such as state tax and interest on my financed vehicle
This video is helpful but I still have some issue, I bought a Car to start Lyft Driving, During inspection of Lyft the mechanic required me to change 4 tires and brakes, I did but my question is: in witch place to put these expenses?
what if i deliver for doordash and stride keeps track of my mileage for deliveries also for amazon flex could you make a video for that and I own my car
This is a surefire way to estimate your miles at a high accuracy level. Find the paperwork to your oil changes or anything that was done on your car, including tires or anytime you took it to a shop. They recorded your current mileage on your paperwork. If you know what your miles were at the end of the previous year from your previous years tax return or what your mileage is now it is easy to do the subtraction and the division to come up with about how many miles you drive per month. Even if you got audited and showed the auditor how you arrived at your mileage figures, they wouldn't balk.
I wasn't clear if you are required to show individual mileage if you drive for more than one ride share company. Can you submit a total of miles for ride share? ...or would you, for example, have to show the division of miles between Uber and Lyft?
HELP PLEASE! Uber Eats & DoorDash worker here. Filing on TurboTax. Where do I put my gross earnings & net payout? Where do I put my expenses, fees & tax to claim them? Both my 1099MISC don't have a box for this. They only have one number. Box 7 Nonemployee Comp. I already did my deductions such as cell phone, miles, gas, supplies, food/drinks & repairs. At no point did I see a spot for gross earnings, expenses, fees, tax & net payout. Also, where can I find my tax summary for DoorDash? I have the Uber Eats one already.
Somone answer my question can I get deductions for using Uber??? All my Uber rides I paid for can I get deductions I use Uber to get everywhere because I have no car so I get to work using Uber
It would be nice if the video mentioned which country's taxes this video is addressing. I'll have to guess by your accent that this is for Americans. They have turbotax here in Canada too, but the taxation is not the same. Specificity is key, especially with taxes.
So if I choose the standard deductions method for one year I have to choose that method every single year following that as long as I’m using the same car? Does this apply to quarterly taxes as well? And will this ever change what if one year my tracking isn’t as good and I want to use standard deduction method am I screwed?
My vehicle was totaled driving for Lyft no fault of my own. Can I claim the loss?my insurance and lyft did not compensate me because I only had liability
Can you do a segment for delivery gigs like amazon flex please? Questions i have: common deductions? Special insurance needed. What's the difference in doing this with owned car and financed car🖤 thank you👍solid content🎯
What if you actually didn't keep track of miles cus you barely worked due to having a regular job? Can turbo tax do an estimate based on how much you made?
I didn’t keep mileage track and Uber mileage in tax summary is very less not even half of what it should be as per my rough estimate. Than do I have to settle with less fuel expense deduction as my business use is very less going by Uber mileage.
My car was totaled by the insurance and i get paid the value of the car, after i select i stop using my car what i need to do? should i try to get loss or gain on this?
I did already my 2018 Tax return using as usual TT Deluxe. I do have W-2 forms as wel, I started driving fo UBER last year in June. Just discovered this FREE self employed version. Would you recommend to redo my taxes on this SE version or I'm OK to file with TT Deluxe. Thank you.
Hi there- Did you report your Uber income on your 2018 return? If you did NOT report your Uber income on your 2018 return you will need to file an amended return to report that income. Access TurboTax through your dashboard, log in, and then select amend return. You will be instructed on how to add your Uber income.

Hey Erin. Yes, the self-employed product covers your personal taxes in addition to Uber driving. Even if you only earned a small amount from driving, you should still report the income and any expenses.
Hi Dm- Yes you can use the self-employed version for all of your personal income including your Rental Property (which is reported on a Schedule E), your W2's and your Rideshare driving income.
Where are the instructions on HOW TO deduct what Uber and Lyft charge us, expenses fees, summaries ECT ? And where are these Fee's located? They are Not on the 1099 K forms they send out! And Turbo tax does not explain how to find them.

Unfortunately gym memberships are not deductible. The IRS considers them as personal expenses, regardless of the type of work you are in.
