    Fantastic video, very nicely explained. I was wondering though, why do you have to connect to the socket box? Does it not have enough power/connection to just plug the phone into the PBX?

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  3 месяца назад +1

      The phone can be directly plugged into the PBX but the sockets are mostly created to serve as nodes at which the handsets can be plugged. You would sometimes find sockets created within walls, thereby burying the cables out of sight for beauty and protection of the cables from destruction.

  • @User399-9
    @User399-9 Месяц назад +2

    For a single line, what if i connect the 4 strands of cat 5 cable to the socket instead of 2 strands as you have done, will it still function?
    Under which conditions does krone come in, kindly?

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  Месяц назад +2

      The 4 strands works perfectly but since the phones are not display phones, you do not really need all the 4 stands but it does not spoilt anything at all, you can connect the 4.
      The Krone is used in situations where you have 4 buildings sharing thesame PBX system where you need to have a distribution point at each building whereby you will carry the signal from the pbx switch to the Krone or the DP and further split it from the Krone to your sockets.

    I was wondering if you can help me please.
    I recently moved into a new flat with a broken intercom. I identified it as a "ACET 22220 (2 Wire)". It has 6 wires inside (yellow, green, white, red, blk, blue). Cables yellow and red are in slot 5, black and blue are in slot 6 and the other cables are not connected at all.
    I bought a bell 801 as replacement which 5 slots for wires "I R O T Z" which is different from my old ACET 22220.
    Will this work as a replacement? And if so where would each cable go?

    Thanks for such educative video real like this series.
    Learning alot from you.
    But to be clear on something, in your previous videos, you made mention of a krone or patch panel.
    But you didn't use it in this setup.
    Is it safe to say you can setup a full functional system without a krone or patch panel?.
    And in what instance do we need the krone?

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  9 месяцев назад

      Very good question.
      1. You can successfully install a telephone intercom system without using a krone or patch panel
      2. The Krone or patch panel is required in instances where you are installing the pbx to serve two or more buildings, in such cases you would place a krone at the point where all your cablings will come to in one building and run one multi pair cable from the krone to the pabx machine which will carry extension wiring to the krone. From the krone, you will then distribute to your extension sockets.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  11 месяцев назад +1

      The main difference between cat 5 and Cat 6 is the bandwidth that each supports and hence the volume and speed of data that each can process. Cat 6 has a higher bandwidth and data transfer speed and as well more expensive than Cat 5.
      Voice communication or pabx requires less bandwidth and data transfer speed which can be well handled using Cat 5 at a good price.
      However, Cat 6 can be used without any problem.

      Yes, this is a very good question. The krone is normally used when you have to extend the reach of your pbx using a multi pair cable, where you terminate the multiple pair cable coming from the pbx switch on the krone and redistribute the extensions from the krone.
