Media in the south has failed in their media ethics to expose the plight of innocent Tamils detained under PTA for as long as fifteen years and finanaly acquitted either by the high court or court of appeal. These men and women and their families suffered untold hardships during this time. When a Tamil person is detained under PTA they look at him as terrorists when someone in the south is given a detention order for nineteen days it is matter of concerned for all of them. Even Tamil members of parliament played a double standard on this matter. Tamil are not asking Attorney general for any favours kindness or sympathy all they are demanding is not to serve any indictment without credible evidence or witnesses and to follow professionals ethics and not waste the time of judiciary by their above actions. How can the Srilankan judiciary justify detain a person for fifteen years without credible evidence or witness as because he is a Tamil and then if he or she is fortunate enough to find a prominent lawyer to get acquitted either by HC or court of appeal. Will there any compensation for these unjustifiable actions of Srilankan judiciary. Many of these detainees have been severely tortured and JMO reports and evidence have been accepted by the HC of Colombo few women have been raped many hundreds were made to disappear ether when they surrendered or arrested by the Srilankan army credibile evidence were produced to those who were concerned. Over to the media in the south to follow media ethics and to expose these horrific crimes and crimes against humanity committed on Tamil people of those who are concerned. The media in the south both sinhala and English have a morall ethical duty to expose injustice done to anyone by a state department no matter who the victims are and which language they speak.
