This is an exceptional depiction of todays cowboy, ethics and authentic tradition. It is educational and you best take the time to watch if you're at all interested in this wonderful life of ranching and cowboy life. My hat tips to you all!
I can't possibly say enough great things about this video guys. The filming and content get better and better. The long format is awesome! God bless you guys and please keep these great videos coming.
Outstanding vidio and a pure pleasure to see the heart of American freedom still alive. Hopefully the government will let folks live and continue the tradition of our ancestors. God bless each and every one of you.🇺🇸🗽👍
Amen Wade, and I like to remember the government works for us. We need to contact our representatives to express. Our opinions about upcoming legislation that may not be favorable for our ranchers, especially when it comes to taxation.like taxes on n family ranches being handed down from generation to the next generation.
I really enjoy watching these types of videos. They're very interesting, and it's breath-taking to watch the horses being trailed. Their natural beauty is something you can't ignore.
This video brings back a lot of great memories. I was a ranch cowboy on the "Harvey Sisters' Ranch" in the Panhandle of Texas (64,000 acres) operated by the Brainerd Cattle Co. of Canadian, Texas. The neighbors around that ranch would help each other do as these cowboys did branding their calves. We did not head the calves but heel and drag them to the branding fire. That was in 1959-60. This video "Branding at the ID Ranch" is great and documents a great tradition of ranch life. I am glad this still takes place.
Yea for Wyoming cowboys!!! I was born in Powell Wyoming years ago - my sister married a cowboy from Montana so I got to experience a branding once. Much smaller scale, same neighbor helping neighbor. They actually scheduled branding in the little community so everyone was involved and what I experienced was more spectator than helper but it was fun and exciting. I remember my sister telling me a few years later she was baking bread that day, for branding.... 10+ loaves of bread. The behind the scenes from a woman's viewpoint was interesting because they did all the cooking. The amount of food needed was amazing. Of course many of the women also helped at the branding site as well. Great community and great neighbors.
@@katpraeuner9794 Thank you Kat for you reply. The cowboy life was and is a unique experience. You mentioned your sister cooking for the cowboys. The last ranch I worked at I had to prepare my own food each day and when we were working cattle, branding, etc., one of the cowboys had the duty of cooking. There were no women around since the ranch where I worked was a "bachelor " operation. I was the only cowboy at the ranch house on the day-to-day work. Great times.
Being a cowboy and doing "cowboy" stuff is the most fun you can have dressed. Not for the faint of heart. Doctoring a sick yearling, or riding broncs is the definition of a great time.
This video is so interesting. I'm a 76 year old woman in Indiana, but I love learning about ranching. Been to Wyoming a few times and just love it there.
That’s an army of cowboys! Traditions are what make cowboying fun! A cowboy watching this video will nod their head at some traditions and shake their head at others. 😊
All about families, whether animals or humans. This is a fantastic vid!! A bit of heaven on earth!! Thanks so much for sharing. Always good to see working cattle under those Western skies. Smell the dust, cattle, horses and hear all the sounds that go along with it. Keep sharing! Drone shots are amazing. Synchronized working cowboys and cowgirls and cattle. Phenomenal!
The slow-mo of the rope work is awesome. I learned how to rope as a kid in Okla. an old fireman taught me how and I’ve enjoyed it ever since. I can’t ride a horse anymore because of a lower spine injury but I do miss it. I always liked heeling because it seemed more difficult… not sure why. Maybe I’ll teach my son how to rope his dog in a couple years, lol.
This is an outstanding video, this should be shown in public schools. Show just a small example of what it takes to work and work hard for your take. Thank you, God Bless.
Thanks for all the detail, I don't know ranching, at first I thought why? But as you continued throughout the video I began to understand. Kudos for still doing this hard job and keeping the traditional beliefs going.
Fun to watch. I did some work for a neighbor of yours. On the Bug. Never met any of you folks, but knew where the outfit was. I don't people much. Mostly bumped into that Irish guy and his wife. Murphy? Maybe?
What a wonderful story of working together as a team to get things done! It's great to see the degree of teamwork and how everyone stays out of everyone else's way, and everyone helps out his buddy when things aren't going smoothly.
Probably the coolest branding video I’ve ever seen. Now if I can just get our photographer (my wife) to figure out how to run a drone, I can put together some videos like this
Great documentary.. really enjoyed it. Don't know most of the terminology used but it was great to watch and the music was great too. May I ask what soundtrack you used?
0:01 That "could be said of any adventurous, dangerous job in the world. Like Doctor Ben Parker said, the cowboy is the only common laborer who has become a national folk hero.
I wonder if u guys teach people who never been around cows and horses I am a 40years old guy that I grow up watching this stuff on tv and I really have a passion for it but I never did it
12:32 How good do you actually have to be as far as knowing the country goes, when there are no trees? You can see each other for a 100 freaking yards.
Hello there boys. Do yous get good money for doing that. I suppose yous won't have much to spend it on our there. I'm retired now from my regular job has a stone mason. Like your line of work it was pretty hard and it was all weather. I have a few alements in life now. I still work a bit has a tractor driver.
15:44 Do you intentionally rope those baby calves, or was it for the movie? We have our children mug a small calf like that for working. No need to involve a horse for small work like that. Unless you want to play cowboy.
It was a real pleasure to watch your branding. Especially because of the family aspect. Thank you for taking the time to document this.
So glad ya'll enjoyed it! It was a privilege to get to meet and work with that crew! Thanks for watching
