The journalist is classic example of a left liberal trying to 'tell' an educated muslim woman like Shehla, how she should think and respond to issues. Shehla raises a very pertinent question - Is she not a muslim? Are muslims and their perceptions going to be defined by Sunni males? I also agree with her views on Stereotypes existing for a reason. As an Indian male, I have to make sure I am respectful of women because of negative stereotype of Indian men in the west. And that exists because Indian men act in a certain derogatory way. We have to change the perception by positivity.
Dear Ms Pandey Why are you constantly trying to promote The Narrative of discrimination against Muslims? It seems no interview is complete without the mention of this discrimination at least a few times. Do you also bring up discrimination when interviewing women and other minorities? To be even handed should you not ask your Muslim guests how about some questionable Behavior by some Muslims? Pattharbazi, blocking of Roads, defying the police, not sending their girls to school and the general subjugated status of women in Muslim Society etc. Is that not part of good journalism? Part of the reason media is losing its credibility is journalists yourself
I read her book, my experiences in life are not different from hers. My upbringing was in a neighborhood that were majority Muslims. Now I live in a community that is majority Hindus, the experience is very different. Better roads, better transport facilities, regular municipal water supply, malls and shopping complexes are close by, the list goes on. The quality of life is better For deprived Muslims (who form the majority in our religion), it is actually a struggle for better life which unfortunately took a religious color, there are several forces to polarize the situation making it complicated
It is not about fortune. It is a matter of choice. Muslims want a better quality of life but that should also be Islamic. So you see many refugees fleeing from Islamic countries to europe and having settled in there are now pitching for implementation of Sharia. No wonder the world is wary of the Islamist.
If the majority are the reason behind your backwardness then why you lot are soooooo backward in the countries where you are in majority. Let's take the three countries your ancestors carved out from India for example. Why are you living in dark ages over there. Please stop playing the card of Al taquiya.
Accept the fact the Muslim as an Ideology is an regressive one. Bearing more children than you can sustain, stealing public property or destroying them, Girl marriage at the age of 14 is taking you down. Put a hindu in a muslim area and he will be shredded into pieces in no time. I have seen average muslim fellas always thinking about sex. Sex with hindu girls, sex with their own sisters, daughters nothing else comes to their minds. As a jamat, muslims keep mazab first instead of humanity and country first. Thus regression is self imposed.
Look at in that area how many houses occupied roads by extending their houses ..how many mosques extending into roads..For all these issues root cause is having more childrens.
This girl is surely gonna change stereotypes about Muslims. It's so inspiring how comfortable & positive she is about being a Muslim in India. Smart, thoughtful, and introspective lady. She is still a convert, her ancestors did convert or forced converts like most. For some unknown reasons south Asian Muslims struggle to accept that fact.
I don't think most Indian Muslims deny the fact that their ancestors (20 generations ago) might have been Hindu, and before that Buddhist, and before that indigenous (Indus Valley non-Aryans), and before that hunter gatherers. It doesn't matter. Our recent ancestors chose monotheism and dignity and freedom from caste and untouchability, and that's what we live by.

Just thought of her as another leftist argumentative person, but her discussions in the last few news outlet really changed my view. And also the fact that we need to stop being protesting and instead provide solutions is what’s lacking in a great amount. The same thought was discussed by our external affairs minister in an ORF interview as to how India and China differs. The fact that an Indian Arab Spring moment was also quite apt coz the changes over years is quite visible and also the fact that being a proud Muslim is quite easy than being a proud Hindu. The secular thread that unites us is quite unique and both religions should try to keep their religion to themselves and dedicate themselves towards nation building. The same thought was made by famed pakistani travel writer salman rashid over how religion took precedence in our neighbouring country and look what status it brought them. Looking forward to her book

This episode felt extremely disappointing, not because of Sheila, but due to the interviewer’s approach. For the love of good content, please focus on discussing the book itself instead of fixating solely on the country’s political climate. The interviewer didn’t even touch upon the role models highlighted in the book, which are such a key aspect. Interviews like those by Karan Thapar in TheWire or Kitaabwala in 'The Lallantop' set a far better standard-this episode pales in comparison. It seems as though the interviewer hasn’t even read the book, which makes it appear unprepared and superficial.

I appreciate your point and truly respect your concern for the society. But my point of view is somehow different. I think religion becomes problematic when it incites hate among people and creates divisions like the hindutva, far right christians, wahabist muslims. But if it is a source of self discipline and conscience building, it is far more effective than human conscience in building a moral being. Imagine a leader who truly believes in God and the day of accountability when he would pay for all his good and bad deeds, that would be best. But in the current scenario, when religious intolerance has shaded every positive aspect of it, it seems imaginary.

Neelam madam BJP didn't win in Kashmir because muslims never have nor will vote for BJP no matter whatever BJP does for them, simple. Shehla couldn't have said it.
Lol you are pretending that BJP's voters vote for them for the development they are doing. Its because of the villification of Muslims that you vote for the BJP. If tomorrow Muslims start voting for the BJP, and BJP acknowledges this shift in voting pattern, I can guarantee you wont vote for the BJP. BJP is the Hindutva Version of the Congress and Congress is somewhat centrist version of the BJP. ALL PARTIES IN THIS COUNTRY are the same. BJP knows its voters are voting for them merely because of the hate or fear of Muslims. Its as simple as that!

Finally i hear sensible talk frm a muslim girl. Communities shud self reform like hindus did. Its high time muslim communities wisdom grows as well, in terms of reform of society.
Discrimination based on religion, skin color, race, etc., exists every where and every society in the word no matter what. It's a reality in life, and it will remain as long as humanity exists. On thing I want to ask the people belonging to "Peaceful Community" as to why other religious communities living in India for much longer than "Peaceful Community" do not feel the same.
Most recent Muslim oppression is reported from BJP states, where chief ministers have, contrary to their constitutional oaths, deployed dog whistles against Muslims and attempted to scare or shame Hindus into backing their party. In Madhya Pradesh, new chief minister Mohan Yadav said he opposed bulldozer sanskriti but allowed or ordered officials to continue demolition of Muslim homes - for allegedly finding beef in their refrigerators, for rioting. An Adivasi constable who refused to hand over a Muslim accused of “hurting religious sentiments” to Hindu fundamentalists was, instead of being commended, transferred.
There is a natural law that says "What goes up must come down", in other words "Your deeds of today will come back and haunt you and your off-springs to come in the future".
@ Does the natural law you mentioned apply to those who are rising now, and is their downfall inevitable? In other words, is their actions today will come back to haunt them and their children in the future⁉️
@@mohamedali2858 Short answer is "Yes" - deeds on an individual basis will be restricted to the individual alone. However, the same does not hold true when deeds are against humanity or section of a society then the humanity or section of the society will face the consequences (negative) of their predecessor's deeds. Here, deeds and their consequences will depend on if they are positive (respect for humanity) & negative (inhuman).
@@amardatta4471 Your concise answer of "yes" is a guarantee of the continuity of the natural law you mentioned, and this is satisfactory to me because the only constant is change, and I would add to that👇 The oppression of individuals against one another can be addressed through law and a fair, disciplined judiciary; however, the oppression of authority is more pervasive, beyond the capacity to counteract and halt, and it heralds ruin.
@@mohamedali2858 Laws of nature have very little to do with human input or interventions - like Newton's 3rd law of motion "Every action has equal and opposite reaction", and it specifically deals with the physical world or nature. Long before Newton's laws of Motion came Shri. Krishna said the same thing but meant for the Universe and its effects on inhabitants, particularly the human beings. Your say " ....because.....constant is change......" Not sure what you meant by it. Instead of the word "Constant" shouldn't it be "variable"? Then it makes sense to me. As far as "...disciplined Judiciary.." is concerned my comment is that wherever human beings are involved justice rendered is called "Natural Justice" and not same as laws of nature. Human biases, likes, dislikes, mind-set, politics, etc., influence the outcome or verdicts.
Its not that the Hindus reformed themselves and Muslims failed to reform themselves. It has always been the fight between the lower caste and the upper caste. Socio economic discriminations are all pervasive, and yet collectively ignored. It is the upper castes that have benefited at the cost of lower caste people's misfortune. The Muslims are mostly lower caste Hindus, and lack the wherewithal to self organize and progress, just like the lower caste Hindus in India do. The tussle is not between the Hindus and the Muslims, the tussle is actually between the lower caste (Hindus and Muslims) and the upper caste. The lower caste can change their religion, but not their caste, the plight of the Pakistan is a testimony to this fact, feudalism/casteism is rampant in Pakistan. The lower caste has not only been hammered from millennia of oppression(both observable and unobservable, quantifiable and unquantifiable), and has failed to revive itself because of its inability to unite, collaborate and cooperate among themselves.

And Islam being an organised religion is actually the largest religion in India where hindus being Individualistic (and not necessarily religious) are the real minority. Every hindu represents a completely independent set of thinking and lifestyle which comes to with his/her life. The unity or cooperation among hindus is only due to absolute hypocrisy of Islamist and Christian abrahamics.
More and More Hindus consider Caste discrimination as bad. The Hindu women are much more empowered than Muslim women. No society is perfect or free from all sorts of prejudice but Hindu society has is changing and reforming over time.
Because Hindus have accepted Hinduism needs to change and changed laws. For eg Hindu marriage act was modified in 50s to ensure one man has one wife. Reservations were enshrined since independence. Can we all move to a uniform civil code which is decided by people who live in this century ? On the other hand Muslims didn't even repeal triple talaq which the BJP had to do to liberate Muslim women. Pakistan and Bangladesh have long ago got rid of it but to the eternal shame of Congress it has kept Muslims backward and trapped in medieval laws.
The caste system dates back to 1000s of years and the Brits only ruled India for 400yrs. They exploited an already existent system to usurp control for the divide and rule policy. With all due respect, i strongly disagree with the narrative conveyed by shehla mam that Kashmiris didn't vote against the unanimous abrogation of the article of 370, by giving the argument " why pdf lost then"?? and citing the stronghold of nc here in Kashmir. The basic flaw with this is that nc fought on the very narrative that August 5 2019 was the eradication of our identity and they sought to fight for its restoration and on the contrary people here considered pdp the reason for that injustice Because they did the coalition with bjp in 2014 which paved the way for all this. People were angry at the pdp party. Talking about bjp, that they didn't use their capital to mobilize people, this is utter nonsense, they fielded tens of their proxies to cut vote share of local parties.
@truthislogical thanks for your ❤️. I am just a muslim who tries to follow quran , sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his companions, my own intellect. The shia sunni divide is a later thing that developed afterwards and it is completely normal if is remains upto differences of opinions because after all we are humans, wherever there are humans, there is difference of opinion but when it becomes hateful, then it is fatal. It is not only confined to muslims only, even between hindus, muslims, jains, Buddhists, Jews, even though we all have differences, we should respect each other and keep the difference limited to opinions not upto hatred.
Nice dear brother I didn't intend to divide you but i do see a vast difference between shias and sunni muslims. Anyways how is the situation in kashmir? Are you happy with the new government?
@truthislogical i didn't either...❤️❤️❤️ From your Kashmiri brother. Ofcourse, there are jurisdictional differences but not principle difference of fundamentals of the faith. The situation here in Kashmir is kind of dualistic. Some aspects are really getting good like the normalisation and and relative slowdown of armed militancy, but unfortunately the relation between our army and the locals is somehow like it was earlier, but the good thing is that army is also going good in organising some events in order to establish faith. But when it comes to tense situations like when militants do some sort of mischief, army sometimes loses its cool and while doing the checking process they sometimes don't treat the locals in a good way also the doubt based arrests create a lot of disblief. Whenever we hear that army is in our vicinity, i swear people still get scared because of the past memories. My suggestion is that if our army practices more restraint in tense situations, the things would get more better inshallah. Ofcourse, the unemployment is at the worse like the other parts of our country, and the biggest cancer of drug addiction is killing our youth.

Dear Ms Pandey
Why are you constantly trying to promote The Narrative of discrimination against Muslims?
It seems no interview is complete without the mention of this discrimination at least a few times.
Do you also bring up discrimination when interviewing women and other minorities?
To be even handed should you not ask your Muslim guests how about some questionable Behavior by some Muslims? Pattharbazi, blocking of Roads, defying the police, not sending their girls to school and the general subjugated status of women in Muslim Society etc.
Is that not part of good journalism?

I read her book, my experiences in life are not different from hers.
My upbringing was in a neighborhood that were majority Muslims. Now I live in a community that is majority Hindus, the experience is very different. Better roads, better transport facilities, regular municipal water supply, malls and shopping complexes are close by, the list goes on. The quality of life is better
For deprived Muslims (who form the majority in our religion), it is actually a struggle for better life which unfortunately took a religious color, there are several forces to polarize the situation making it complicated

@@amardatta4471 Your concise answer of "yes" is a guarantee of the continuity of the natural law you mentioned, and this is satisfactory to me because the only constant is change, and I would add to that👇
The oppression of individuals against one another can be addressed through law and a fair, disciplined judiciary; however, the oppression of authority is more pervasive, beyond the capacity to counteract and halt, and it heralds ruin.
You are great. You have a great future.
There is large amount of very serious systematic discrimination against Hindus in India.
She is very clever! Volitionally slipped from tricky questions!

13:52 Isn't it funny how Parsis, Jews, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists etc never complaint of discrimination in India? What's their number in India?
They must be majority I guess.
How can you say Hindus have reformed themselves when there is still caste system and prejudice?
Btw caste is given by brits not us
The caste system dates back to 1000s of years and the Brits only ruled India for 400yrs.
@@FidaHussain-v1e8o my brother are you a shia muslim?
@truthislogical thanks for your ❤️.
@truthislogical i didn't either...❤️❤️❤️ From your Kashmiri brother.

I had been following kashmir issue from past 3-4 years very closely and I totally agree with what you have said; I have the same perspective as well. Much of the people in forces are trying their best to win the support of the civilians but among them their are few bad apples who are hampering it. Patience is extremely required to deal in insurgency affected states or otherwise it will only help the enemies to woo the locals towards them. I really hope voices of people like you reach and are heard by the concerned to authorities so that we can achieve peace and end this era of suffering.
And my brother unemployment is an issue throughout the country and I believe no government can create enough job for such a highly populated country like india. Are you also unemployed? And yes dr*gs problem is very serious but you know since majority people in jk are religious so the condition is far better than the rest of the country.
And dear brother what do you think we as common people from rest of the part do something for the betterment of kashmiri people? Like once I had conversation with another kashmiri brother who said me ever since the government started allowing imported apples their sales have been considerably reduced. In my family we had been consuming Queen Apple (of New Zealand) from very long time but ever since I came to know that, I have started purchasing only kashmiri apples.
Can't do anything if they don't wanna change themselves let them be were they want to be

The anchor needs to be more cautious in terms of not unabashedly showcasing in bias in the way questions are framed.......it erodes the fragment of good journalism !
Reporter is trying to push her agenda of appeasement politics.
Way she white washed BJP's batange to katenge slogan only goes to show there is hardly any honest intellectual or scholar left who hasnt sold his soul to political party on either side of the spectrum. Pitty....
