This was the best touareg, best suv ever. They should never have redesigned it. Facelift model was gorgeous in the right color (not a fan of white). Lost its off road prowess, and none have been remotely as reliable as the 2010 tdi. They finally figured out reliability with the 2010 and then of course had to redesign it. Correct, this was an entirely new platform co-developed by VW and Porsche. Audi sort of piggybacked, although they did contribute in the powertrain department (especially, further improving the V6 TDI in the past year or two). It was not based on any existing car on either lineup.

i dont think its based on a car im fairly confident this was a whole new platform for VW and Porsche and Audi also use it but with different engines
i own a 2008 VW touareg you take the headrests out and put them in the holes on the bottom of the seats that you see at the top
