I'm watching this during my "RUclips hour", which my browser plug-in allows me two times a day. Blocking out distractions is key. The only music that works for me is deep techno. I love hiphop, but I tend to get distracted by the lyrics.
@@K_yalll There are plenty. I'm using 1Focus in Safari, which costs a few bucks, but there are many free website blockers for different browsers. I installed them on all browsers, so there is no way to escape haha. It's awesome.
I really like your videos and your art style. Can you start teaching the concepts you use in your designs? Or provide tutorials on the poster designs? It would be really beneficial for the beginner designers.
Would you mind providing links to your music recs? I’ll probably end up looking them up myself but it’d be super convenient for other people to quickly access them (this video being their home).
As a designer with ADHD, these videos always suck me in. Awesome auxiliary design, b-roll, audio quality, recommendations, and super actionable and simple advice. The idea of Locking In has some pretty bad connotations with hustle culture, but you really show the value of approaching it with self-love at the forefront. We're really doing these structured things for our future selves, which is super easy to forget since those people don't even exist yet. The hard part is implementation for sure. How do you stop yourself from self-sabotaging? I'm sure it happens to you still sometimes, but lately I find myself doomscrolling and watching RUclips when I know I have a project falling behind or even past due. We're about the same age, so I'd really love to hear your perspective on distraction and how to practice discipline as a creative. How do you pull yourself away from distractions in a way that doesn't feel like a sacrifice in the moment?
Appreciate the love! Honestly that self sabotage and distraction just is inevitable sometimes. I just try my best to not beat myself up about it and do the best I can at that given moment.
I deleted and blocked all of these apps on my phone and computer. RUclips is the only one I have and but I usually have the self-control to just use it for music during working hours. If you're self-sabotaging to the point of missing deadlines you should consider "extreme" measures if you don't have the discipline to stop on your own. Another super important piece of this puzzle was either in the Deep Work book or How to Get Things Done by David Allen was to spend time doing proper preparation before completing your main task. Getting all of the details/ direction possible for your project, asset gathering, layout, etc. are all things that need their own dedicated space before "designing" takes place. It ensures that you're setup to accomplish the main task to the best of your ability and dedicate the most time and attention to it while minimizing the opportunities to get distracted with other tasks that should have already been done first and interrupting your deep work on the main task.
Music is a must for creating, I like to keep my Spotify at around 60% volume under whatever im working on because that lets you edit and design at the same time without the noise of video/design project getting in the way
Sir, I'm really confused - when I try to learn design principles, I understand what they are and how they work. But when I'm creating my own design, I'm unsure how to implement these principles and which one to use when. Cloud you please make a video how to implement all these principles. Sir please help
the reason why your expectations don’t match your current reality is because of the lack of practice. Only time and hard work will make you improve your plasticity in any creative field
Pick 1 - 3 principles to focus on, then apply them to a personal project that excites you. For instance, you could make a series of poster designs emphasizing hierarchy, contrast, and repetition. I'm doing a version of this approach to learn motion design, and it's been some of the most fulfilling work I've created. Granted, it's also been extremely time-consuming, but that just reinforces the level of effort I'm applying. If you try the same approach in your own way, I think you will find more confidence in yourself as a designer. Honing the effectiveness of our creative expression and communication is a lifelong journey. Accept where you are and make the most of it. Hope this helps, god bless :)
@ it’s just creating duality and not creating a focus point on specific subject of interest…. Specially when it is on the same level with the same intensity and seeing the source of light as well…. It’s still could be a classical setting but I don’t think it’s the case of your room 😄…. Please don’t understand me wrong I’m just suggesting and I believe you will understand that in design there is no right or wrong 😄
I love when you make these types of videos. Always spot on advice! Thanks Jesse
Thank you Jesse, these tips will be very helpful for my career as a graphic designer. Keep being creative!✨
Much respect for having City Escape in the Lock In playlist.

As an architect the two lamps in the background is driving me crazy 😂😂😂 … I suggest keeping the one near the shelves and turn the other one off
Why do you say that, can you elaborate? Genuinely curious.
