Fami's bass is so prominent in this one. I love it. That opening is among the best I've heard from Lovebites - with the wind and the bell and that super heavy guitar riff, outstanding. And then at the end the drumming really stands out. I also like that this a bit slower than their most recent tracks, giving them some variety. This is my favorite song on the EP.
My current fav track on the new EP. If you like the bass to come to the fore, you'll enjoy the last track on the EP - "Someone's Dream". Lovebites will be embarking on a 9-concert Japanese tour from 26 January to 13 March 2025 called "Eternal Phenomenon Tour" when they'll be playing the songs on the new EP (as well as other songs from previous EPs and LPs that have not been played LIVE yet). Fingers crossed they'll play "A Bell in the Jail" plus a paid LIVE stream to be made available.
LOVEBITES - The Bell In The Jail lyrics & credits: Bell in the Cathedral waking up cities Fishers out, flowers lined, ready to start High above behind the stoned wall From the small window, watching the crowd Whisper of Gargoyle, my heart is dancing Dreaming of the world outside Like a song of prayer Like a swaying of the wind Bell will change it's way to ring by what the heart is filled Like a pouring rain on land Like a stroke of thunderstorm Hear the bell ring again No way out of this sanctuary Solos: midori / twin Preaching racists, pretending to be good Wanting to rule other's, filled with greed Screams of hearts always wasted and left out Visciously, bring the innocents to death What is ugliness What is foolishness You can't measure with your eyes Like a song of prayer Like a swaying of the wind Bell will change it's way to ring by what the heart is filled Like a pouring rain on land Like a stroke of thunderstorm Hear the bell ring again No way out of this sanctuary Who's the monster Who's the man Asking to my instinct What makes a monster What makes a man Asking to my instinct Who's the monster Who's the man Asking to my instinct ----- lyrics: asami music: Mao arrangement: Mao & LOVEBITES (haruna, midori, miyako, asami, fami) album: LOVEBITES EP II 08/28/2024 ---
Of the 5 songs on this new EP (Lovebites EP II) the 3 songs that at the moment are audio only (Where's Identity, The Bell in the Jail, Someone's Dream) are my favorites. It will be great when the Metal Queens do all these song live.
This is what happens when the bass prodigy you chose becomes fully involved in the composition and recording process. I’m the only person who seems to think this, but listen to the guitar passage immediately following the solo and tell me it doesn’t remind you of U2.
I agree with you take regarding the bass. One of my (slight) complaints about many of their earlier studio recordings in that the bass is just a fraction too far back in the mix. Since Fami has joined the band, the bass seems to be featured a bit more and is also a little bit further forward in the mix. So I'm happy.
Lovebites is pure musical poetry. this song is great and the new EP is amazing. Lovebites forever
Lovebites always come out with the best product. Love it too.. thanks 👍🤘
Yes, EP-II is just epic. Brilliantly composed and greatly executed. I just love it.

LOVEBITES - The Bell In The Jail lyrics & credits:
Bell in the Cathedral waking up cities
Fishers out, flowers lined, ready to start
High above behind the stoned wall
From the small window, watching the crowd
Whisper of Gargoyle, my heart is dancing
Dreaming of the world outside
Like a song of prayer
Like a swaying of the wind
Bell will change it's way to ring
by what the heart is filled
Like a pouring rain on land
Like a stroke of thunderstorm
Hear the bell ring again
No way out of this sanctuary
Solos: midori / twin
Preaching racists, pretending to be good
Wanting to rule other's, filled with greed
Screams of hearts always wasted and left out
Visciously, bring the innocents to death
What is ugliness
What is foolishness
You can't measure with your eyes
Like a song of prayer
Like a swaying of the wind
Bell will change it's way to ring
by what the heart is filled
Like a pouring rain on land
Like a stroke of thunderstorm
Hear the bell ring again
No way out of this sanctuary
Who's the monster
Who's the man
Asking to my instinct
What makes a monster
What makes a man
Asking to my instinct
Who's the monster
Who's the man
Asking to my instinct
