I have answers to how people who aren't partnered do this! Most trans people are very, very used to our friends getting / pursuing surgery- I've been out long enough that I remember before basically any insurance, much less state Medicare, funded transition care, and a lot of our community life was historically centered around fundraising so people could get surgery. We're kind of used to it collectively. Unfortunately: a lot of us also don't have family, and have a lot more relationship upheaval than I think cis people are exactly used to. But we do have usually lots of friends and acquaintances who are also trans- so mostly people who either are pursuing or have had surgery, or are at least sympathetic to and aware of how big a deal it is and what it looks like. So one thing that's very common is that the way people will set up meal trains for people who are having surgery, people will round up a bunch of their friends to come stay over and help with wound care, feeding, staying comfortable, etc. for the first couple weeks post-surgery. This is really common even with recovery centers- a big problem with surgery is that sometimes the surgeon does a great job but the nurses are assholes, and having a friend to stick up for you is important, but also, surgery is a big emotional process and very scary even if you're really excited for it. I've known people who've travelled to get surgery- this used to be more common before there was a boom in demand and thus training, and still is pretty common when people want a specific result or don't have a local provider who will work on them- and just bring their friends down to stay in a hotel with them for a week or two. This all gets more elaborate with surgeries with a longer, harder recovery time- I know lots of people are just running errands with drains in pretty soon after top surgery, meta or a hysto can be pretty intense until it isn't, vaginoplasty or phalloplasty are whole deals- and it's definitely more annoying, the way any kind of extended healing process is more annoying, to have to be doing most of it alone or with occasional roommate help than it is with a person who is down for extended care. But it's usually down to asking your friends and the community for help, and a lot of people manage just fine!
Also, Brie- mazl tov on the surgery! And thank you for calling out how bullshit the psych letter thing is and linking resources! More providers should just be like 'sure lol' and putting providers who do that in front of people so they can get the thing done is as important as making people aware of the option.

Only 8 weeks along and Brie already looks so good!!!! LOL at her friend's comment about the "anime eyes" but seriously, Brie is even more adorable now 🤩 Happy healing!!!! P.S. As someone who used to have a massive facial scar (which is now barely noticeable), I can't recommend Vitamin E enough! If you use it consistently, it will do wonders for scar healing! As a cis woman with PCOS, electrolysis IS A SLOG, BRIE, SO TRUE! I hope it gets less painful as your hair gets less dense, after 2 years I have the same problem with it being painful and sensitive skin. Thank you for being willing to share so many details about your transitioning process, your surgeries, and your recovery. We appreciate your openness and candor.
Not to be offensive to anyone - But i feel like there SHOULD be some therapy and doctor visits before determining that an individual can get surgery. Trans people are important and their experiences matter. We need to remember though, thats here are also people - especially young people, who are just confused and trying to find where they belong. i wanna preface this comment with the statement i mean for the following to be *nothing but helpful* and apologize if it is, in fact, not. i'm a trans guy and i just wanted to reassure Brie that her voice when she pitches a bit lower, is the same-ish or higher than mine pre-T. during instances where people only met me via phone, i often caused gender confusion. i realize that this pitch still may not be reflective of Brie's goals, but i did want to point it out because DFAB women can and do absolutely have lower pitched voices naturally (a point i'm sure you all know very well). also: Brie you look amazing! i love your description of FFS being about enhancing what is already there and de-emphasizing a few features. couldn't agree more
Brie I comment this on all of your surgery videos but make sure you drink lots of water girl!!! The recovery process is awful so staying hydrated is a must 🙂
I like that she still looks like herself. I mean that the changes are enhancing and not altering. I have seen some results that are drastically different and that could be their intent but I would find it hard not to be able to recognize myself. It’s awesome 👏🏼
Thank you so much for opening up so publicly and helping me be a better support and ally to those I care about who are or may go through this!! I know there are downsides to being this public and appreciate you doing this very, very much. Understanding more is so helpful for those of us who want to be helpful.
"Be patient and excited." That's such a comforting way of putting it 😭 Thank you so much for sharing your journey, Brie! It's amazing to see you become more comfortable 😊 Cheers 🎉
AMAZING results. so beautiful but like Brie said not super yassified. Brie still looks so much like herself, and the results look so soft and natural. looking so pretty 🥰
Brie, I love seeing your transformation and how much you've come into yourself! You seem so much happier and more confident. Yay for people being themselves!
Congrats on the tour Kristin! Wish I was closer/available to attend. Also Brie is so beautiful! I’m glad her transition as of this moment has been very happy for her! Loving this for both of you! Edit: Brie’s confidence is literally shining. I love her every time she talks bout her experience and how it’s going. Love love it!
Thank you so much to both of you for opening what is a very private and intimate situation and sharing for all of us. The entire time your honesty has given me different perspectives and I’ve been through this stuff. Anyone y’all are rock stars!
Brie, you look fantastic!!! I love the results. I hope the swelling goes down much sooner than expected. Kristen, I need to know where you got that dress. I need one.
Brie, that was the absolute best advice and you are so compassionate to share that. It's a really hard feeling in that moment and normalizing it and reminding us of our excitement is so wise. Trans joy is life giving. Brie you are such an angel for sharing your process with everyone. I know so many people in our community are benefitting from your experiences. You're the best.
Thank you for sharing your transition with us and answering our questions Brie! There’s a girl out there who has the confidence to pursue her own transition bc of you. You’re beautiful and congratulations on this milestone!
Brie looks beautiful! The thing I notice the most is just the confidence she carries herself with now. You can just see it in her body language. Shoulders back, no slouching, head held high. I’m so happy you were able to do this for yourself and that this experience has helped you feel affirmed. I can’t wait to see how you explore new clothing styles and makeup and whatever else you want and truly blossom into the person you have always been on the inside. It’s who you were always meant to Brie (be)!❤
Thank you for being so open about your journey and sharing with us Brie. It's great to see you without the bandages, I'm sure you're feeling a lot better now, and you're looking beautiful, so happy for you!🎉☺️💯 And congrats on your comedy tour Kristin, I hope you have a lot of fun! 😊
A lot of Kristin leaning into Brie while they face ahead or lean slightly away...Her former husband married her because he wanted to use her as a template.

I am so excited for you and how well you seem to be healing. Obviously it will take a long time, but you look so happy and healthy and it is so good to see you being so much more comfortable and confident in your skin. You go Brie!!!
I am lovinggg y’all’s videos right now, just watching so many from even the beginning of your content. Thank you all for being such a source of openness, kindness, and joy! You give me hope in humanity when I feel very hopeless sometimes. ❤️

Brie looks so beautiful! I can't wait to see how her face settles during the healing process. Thank you, Kristen, for taking such good care of her during the healing process
I recently had an injury on my forehead and the healing from just that few inch wound is SO intense! I can’t imagine going through a whole facial surgery; I’m so happy the pay off is so good! I also can’t get over how cute your twee little nose is, Bree!
Brie you look beautiful! Excited to see how things progress as you continue to heal, but already you look amazing and it’s fantastic to see how happy you look as well ❤
Mom of a (now adult) trans daughter here. I SO understand that knee jerk reaction of thinking someone asking about a psych evaluation might be trolling, but yeah you nailed it. It's absolutely normal, and understandable before making these big decisions or going into major surgery to make sure this isn't just an impulse decision that can harm them. I appreciate that care that goes into making sure the best decisions are made. It's just so important to find a doctor that's understanding to your personal situation, and can stand up for you if you run into any hurdles with surgical consultations. You guys did an awesome job and sounds like you had an amazing team behind you.
I love that Brie is in so many more video’s!!! It’s been amazing to watch her progress and get to know the procedures and dilemmas that’s come with them
Brie looks stunning, like herself still only elevated (which is the exact phrase I’ve given to my bridal MUA for my wedding). The further through transition the more her eyes sparkle and you can hear the happiness in her voice even discussing serious topics! I’m so happy for her

But it's usually down to asking your friends and the community for help, and a lot of people manage just fine!

also: Brie you look amazing! i love your description of FFS being about enhancing what is already there and de-emphasizing a few features. couldn't agree more
Brie I comment this on all of your surgery videos but make sure you drink lots of water girl!!!
I am so happy for Brie. I love everytime that she is in a video, I can hear how her voice changes a little more. She looks amazing though ❤
Thank you both for continuing to share your journeys with your audience. It's very generous of you. Your transparency I'm sure will help so many ❤
AMAZING results. so beautiful but like Brie said not super yassified. Brie still looks so much like herself, and the results look so soft and natural. looking so pretty 🥰
Brie, I love seeing your transformation and how much you've come into yourself! You seem so much happier and more confident. Yay for people being themselves!
I know you get this every time but thank you for being so open and transparent about your experience!!
Your voice has changed! It’s great ❤ you look so happy and I’m happy for you that are living your true life 🎉
Wow these were great questions! I never would have thought of half of those, thanks for sharing and teaching.
Brie is looking is so good!! Such a great journey to watch since the beginning! I love how supportive y'all are with each other 🫶🏻
Congrats on the tour Kristin! Wish I was closer/available to attend. Also Brie is so beautiful! I’m glad her transition as of this moment has been very happy for her! Loving this for both of you!
Edit: Brie’s confidence is literally shining. I love her every time she talks bout her experience and how it’s going. Love love it!
Absolutely love the Brie episodes because they are so informative. Thank you Brie for being so open.
I loved whenever brie was talking and Kristin would look at her so sweetly
Damn can we talk about how pretty brie looks and that her surgeon did an incredible job? She’s recovered so well omg
Brie looks absolutely radiant! 💓 I feel so grateful that y’all are sharing her journey with us. Definitely cheering her on!!!
It's great to see you without the bandages, I'm sure you're feeling a lot better now, and you're looking beautiful, so happy for you!🎉☺️💯
And congrats on your comedy tour Kristin, I hope you have a lot of fun! 😊
Brie looks great, and sounds great too! I know voice training can be difficult for people but she sounds awesome. Happy for her. 🩷
A lot of Kristin leaning into Brie while they face ahead or lean slightly away...Her former husband married her because he wanted to use her as a template.
Period. So sad.
I mean obviously Bri was beautiful pre-surgery but she looks incredible. Not just as a result of the surgery but because she seems so happy it's making her glow. Also, the makeup - absolutely love it. Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us ❤️
I am so excited for you and how well you seem to be healing.
So happy to hear Brie is doing well! She looks amazing, she's absolutely glowing! Congrats Brie!!💕💕💫💫
!!!!! i love how brie still looks like herself, but definitely more feminine, but in addition to that, she’s GLOWING and looks so happy❤❤❤
Brie looks fantastic!!! Congrats! Surgery can be absolutely terrifying even when it is positively life-changing. It warms my heart to see Brie doing well on her journey!
You look so beautiful! The most amazing thing is that there’s nothing about your face that looks “done” and you’re only 8 weeks post-op.
Brie is just a person that radiates positivity and love. I adore you ❤
Brie looks so beautiful! I can't wait to see how her face settles during the healing process. Thank you, Kristen, for taking such good care of her during the healing process
Its amazing how much she still looks like herself, just more feminine. That doctor did gorgeous work!
Thank you so much for taking time to answer questions. I loved listening to you both! ❤️
I recently had an injury on my forehead and the healing from just that few inch wound is SO intense! I can’t imagine going through a whole facial surgery; I’m so happy the pay off is so good! I also can’t get over how cute your twee little nose is, Bree!
So glad you had a good experience with surgery and healing! Im very very happy that you happy with the results ❤ love seeing ppl love themselves
Brie you look beautiful! Excited to see how things progress as you continue to heal, but already you look amazing and it’s fantastic to see how happy you look as well ❤
Love love love that Brie is sharing her journey with us, and its always delightful to see her pop in on the Kitchen and Jorn show! :)
I’m so happy for her
Brie, you were gorgeous beforehand, but you're glowing now! I'm so glad you're sharing your journey with us. I've learned so much.
