I couldn’t help but l when Steve said the S7 will be faster than the new Bugatti “Va-Ryan” as he put it. The S7 was fast but the only thing category that it beat the Bugatti in was the price.
Ryan Lange...The Saleen S7 that Steve is referring to is, I believe is the 2005 Twin Turbo model rated at 750HP, but could be Upgraded to 1000HP! The Top Speed was rated at 248MPH and 260MPH with the 1000HP Upgrade! Remember the Saleen S7 weighs just under 3000 lb.s and Bugatti Veyron is over 4000 lb.s, 1000 lb.s +/- makes a big difference when it comes to Performance! The 2005 Bugatti Veyron was rated at 1001HP with a Top Speed of 253MPH, but the weight was still over 4000 lb.s! This is, I believe why Steve Saleen offered the Saleen S7 TT upgrade to 1000HP to become the Fastest Production Model at that time in 2005 to 160+ MPH (Steve said it could have gone up to 220MPH at that time!) Hope this gives some Clarity!...God Bless!
The Fractured Fairy Tale of How Gas Saved My Life: Once a pon a time- many moons ago during a Riverside Raceway bonus National race, I blue flagged on the hilltop at turn 7, thus informing racers of track conditions with my flags. I sprung out my blue flag, informed the slower car of the two Formula Atlantics quickly approaching. Tim Coconus and Steve (Gas) Saleen were speeding towards me up the chute's hill. Gas set a perfect pik on Tim behind that slower racer, as it blocked the fast lane for Coconus. The lapped driver pointed to overtake on drivers left; Coconus wanted to stay ten/tenths. Dangerously, Coconus turned into Gas, and he was forced off the track driver's left, hit the dirt and lost control. Gas’ Formula Atlantic spun backwards up the hill, crossing the track, growing closer, and closer to the ARMCO barrier protecting me. I moved perpendicular to the errant race car, but when its spinning rear tires hit the barrier, the Atlantic would clime the ARMCO! Gas saved my life when he adroitly controlled his spinning FA and miraculously avoided the barrier that would launch his flying racer into my lap. And we all lived happily ever after: And the moral of this story Charlie Chan tells number one son: Flagman who protect by ARMCO get flat bier. And dats the truth, and I'm sticking to it.
I still want one, all these years later. A 2007 Mustang that looked like a 1970 Boss.
Whenever I get to see or wherever this Saleen S7, dunno why ....this song ""50 Cent Candy shop"" start playing itself in my mind!
