Great video! Just to ask, do you know how the foynes limerick line restoration is going on? I saw your last video and was wondering had there been any progress?
If the former Roche Pharmaceuticals Plant in Clarecastle in Co. Clare can tidy up their operations. Surely Rusal in Aughinish can do the same without looking for excuses to expand this toxic dump on the edge of the River Shannon and within 60km of the Atlantic Ocean
Its a waste by product from smelting bauxite ore in the manufacture of Aluminium . You are correct that the red colour is caused by the high iron ferrite contained within the mud
@@dronehawkA needed evil unless you are Hot Press. I would rather secondary and primary sector in the west rather then being in other countries out of side and out of mind
It’s byproduct of the chemical process it’s not smelted. The ore is treated with caustic and lime and cooked in tanks to extract the alumina. This is the waste. Horrible stuff, be great if someone could figure out an application for it. It’s an amazing site, thanks for the great video.
Thanks for sharing, great video and shows what the media never shows, but us locals live beside. It’s going to cost billions to clean up this toxic mess when it closes, and it will close at some point, and then we’ll do the math and realise it cost tax payer more money than ever generated from the site. Irish planning allowed the expansion of their toxic pits at the same time as denying a cheese factory in the midlands due to climate change, but this ok, bonkers policies.
Oh, friends! What is the capacity of this plant, eh? 2 million tons? In Russia, in protected areas, in the border territories on the Gulf of Finland, they want to build exactly the same "miracle" with a capacity of 4.9 million tons! Oh, "congratulate" us! And also, at the same time, "congratulate" the Finns and Estonians!!!
@@dronehawk The owner of Rusal, Oleg Deripaska, is under EU and US sanctions and has been linked to various criminal activities including Russia's war in Ukraine. The profits from this single operation and others around the world directly fund the Russian military.

@@dronehawk Thanks man! I did see somewhere that track laying should be beginning in March or April, But I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Where's the profit in that ? Or should I say , their profit in doing that.
@@dronehawk the EPA should force it on them to clean up their mess ….
Extraordinary landscape - is the red due to iron or peat?

Explain to me again why the Greens won't let farmers harvest peat?
Explain to me why the west should be nothing more than a glorified bank.

I cannot believe what I see each time I fly along the foynes railway project. How this toxic dump is allowed baffles me

Maybe try googling the reported health problems of the surrounding area around this plant . Should give you a warm feeling inside
Would you give us some links, please
I believe that the owners of this plant at Russian.
Rusal yes should be nationalised
Is this company under EU sanctions?
No don't believe so.
