After 20+ yrs my husband has finally said I can have chickens! I'm so excited. I've wanted chickens my whole life. When I went to check out coops on Amazon, Tractor Supply, etc., I just couldn't believe how small the runs were! Thank you so much for sharing your tips. I love your set-up. Please, if you could, share more about how you take care of your chickens &/or other animals, gardening, composting tips.
Thanks for the update, my daughter is thinking of getting chickens and asked that I build her a coop. I now have some great ideas and hopefully, she will be impressed. So, thank you! By the way, you're a natural in front of the camera. You should expand your channel RUclips needs more women ( and Mom's ), like you. :)
Hi Amanda, Thanks for doing a 2 yr. update. That's exactly what happens is you learn what works and what works even better given your coop, your chickens, goals, location, weather etc. Everyone's needs are different depending on everything being considered. I have Red Tailed hawks and owls around here but to my surprise they have never touched my chickens, not even the Bantams. Raising happy chickens is kind of like raising kids, you discover that the 2nd, 3rd, 4th child goes by smoother and less stressful. Not exactly sure why I would think of that analogy, Lol. Anyway, you're doing a great job. Enjoy your chickens, fresh eggs, and hopefully you have lots of positive comments. Thanks for sharing, Jeff
Have you considered putting your compost pile inside your run? That will add a lot more insect diversity to their diet, provide a little exercise, as well as produce better compost.
Your Coop looks amazing, it was your video what inspired my backyard coop. I had a bad incident as well but it was because we didn’t secured the wire mesh right well to the ground. Mr. Hawk did pay me a visit and took all my 3 little hatched 🐣 and it was very sad. I started with 16 hens and after fatalities and additions I now have 26 chickens including the roosters. Thank you for sharing! Stay safe 💛
I miss our chickens. We stopped raising as we dont have much green around... Had to buy feed and its costly and when i buy the Organic free range eggs its only 3.50 a doz and i did the math and im saving money and added time to my life...
We had issues with aerial predators. On the Red Tool House they mentioned getting some australorps. They look like crows to the predators and they will not bother the chickens. It has worked for us. We even have a red tail hawk witting on a wire less than 100 years away for a while now and it has nto bothered out chickens. Another bonus is that australorp lay well and seem to be good chickens too keep.
Thank you so much for the update! Your design was great to begin with but there are always things that one ends up wanting to change. Thank you! Best wished for your pregnancy - oh, just checked the date - Best wishes on your new child!
Might keep an eye on nature trying to grow over your run ... Could get heavy enough to collapse it ... Noticed your garden layout has changed a bit ... Less noticeable ... Good choice ... The bigger run gives them more room to exercise ... Ever think of partitioning off the last 10 - 20 feet of the runs and growing grains for the birds ??? You could let them in after harvest until you are ready to plant again ...
We love your chicken coop design and 2 year updates - we live out in the country and have field mice and rats - do you have any trouble with them getting into your feed? And those making comments to add compost to the chicken runs - wouldn't that attract them more?? We have some baby chicks and are working on a good design for our coop - any insight would be helpful!!
Have you been successful with using the bird netting for aerial predators? We have some over our coop as of recent but it doesn't seem like the netting would stop them if they really wanted to get in the run. Thoughts?
Gday Amanda I am going to get chocks first I have to build housing for them. I I am still doing research on that and other things so I watch your videos I have found you are very good and very common sense I I was going to and still are going to do how you're done the run fully covered in over the head to keep out predators so I have picked up on your idea of the open door it's great. Congratulations on the coming event do you know if it's a boy or a girl thank you very much I'll keep swallowing
Love your feed and water system!

Really nice job! You clearly care for your chickens, that's so good to see.
Nice setup
Great update my friend. Thank you for your wonderful channel. ...GOD'S JOY...
ingenious..espicially helpful if you need to go away for a couple of days..you don't have to have someone come by twice a day to care for them ..
Loving your videos as we are about to leap into keeping chickens on a small scale in Costa Rica
Thank you for this update! Am also thinking for 10 years now to build a scoop & run. Time to roll up the sleeves :)
Hi nice coop. I wondered what you do in the winter for the water for the chickens. Everything will freeze in winter. Thanks Robert

nice update ! thx
What's the plastic material that you said you used around the run area in the winter?
Compost in your extended run. They break it down so quickly.
After hearing your chicken names in episode one....when it comes to naming your baby, please leave that up to your husband.
What makes you think he didn't have a say in the chickens? He's literally the one filming the video.
when it comes to naming your baby, please leave that up to your husband.
I think the names were jokes due to the color of the chickens.
About how much PVC pipe did you attach into the new feeding can in the new video?
Your coop looks great
Have you been successful with using the bird netting for aerial predators? We have some over our coop as of recent but it doesn't seem like the netting would stop them if they really wanted to get in the run. Thoughts?
We haven't had any incidents since the bird netting was installed
Great Job Amazing
Did you eat Shaquandraday? 😮
Thanks for the update!
Nice update and like the new additions. Did the plants in the first video turn out ok?
Yes our cousin's had a bountiful harvest lol

Is your pond deicer a float deicer or submersible?
I like the coop, but in our area we would have bear visitors after those garbage cans with chicken feed in them.
Hi Linda
goddess..
Omg congratulations is it a boy or a girl.
Where is the weed
