  • The Bible speaks about predestination, election, grace, and salvation. However, Calvinism brings confusion to the terms of salvation and when salvation is delivered. See our most recent seminar’s lessons applied in this lesson titled, “Calvinism’s Confusion.”

I haven’t watched this yet and I believe Calvinism to be Biblical. That said, I desire most whatever God’s TRUTH is. In the same way, before I became King James Only I am willing with an open mind for you to Biblically show me that I am wrong and lead me to whatever is truly supported by Scripture.

      which verse and chapter???

    • @AVKingJamesBible

      @@Moodboard39 here are a few.
“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.”
      ‭‭
      Romans‬ ‭9:15-16‬ ‭
The Bible literally says “predestinated” and also speaks of being “elected” or of “the elect”. When read in the correct Biblical context it means just that.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.”
      ‭‭
      Romans‬ ‭8:29-30, 33‬ ‭
“having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
      Ephesians 1:5
in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:”
      ‭‭
      Ephesians‬ ‭1:11
      Jesus also said….
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
      ‭‭
      John‬ ‭6:44‬ ‭
Jesus was absolutely clear, you must be “drawn” by God to be saved. Even your “decision” to believe is work of God Himself. And yes, this verse means exactly what it says.
      Also,
“John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭27‬ ‭
      Also,
“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”
      ‭‭
      Matthew‬ ‭16:17‬ ‭
      Again Jesus said,
“And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.”
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭8:10‬ ‭
      Also
“I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.”
      ‭‭
      John‬ ‭17:6‬ ‭
“And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.”
      ‭‭
      John‬ ‭17:11‬ ‭
“While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.”
      ‭‭
      John‬ ‭17:12‬ ‭
      **Them that thou gravest me**
I would point you to the following passage. Ask yourself, who are you and I (the clay) to say to God (“The Potter” in this passage) “Why hast thou made me thus”? 👇
“Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?”
      ‭‭
      Romans‬ ‭9:18-21‬ ‭
God made one “for honor” and one “for dishonor”
I know that might make some people uncomfortable, but it’s what Scripture says. Be thankful and find comfort in being chosen! 🙂
“Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, That he may dwell in thy courts: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.”
      ‭‭
      Psalm‬ ‭65:4‬ ‭
** whom Thou choosest** and **causest to approach unto thee**
      Also,
“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
      ‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭
“who were BEFORE OF OLD ORDAINED TO THIS CONDEMNATION”….. I don’t know how else you interpret this passage other than that some were in essence “marked” FOR condemnation.
      Lastly,
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
      2 Corinthians 4:3-4
Note: This passage says that the “god” of this world (referring to Satan) has blinded the minds of them that believe not. In other words, Satan has caused them the be spiritually blinded so that they don’t believe the gospel.
Scripture is clear that Satan is more powerful than any mortal human being. This logic dictates that only an act of God can remove the spiritual blinders on a person, thus allowing them to believe the gospel. This understanding of Scripture would then make perfect sense when comparing it to John 6:44 when Jesus says that no one can come to Him unless The Father draws him.
      Remember…..
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
      ‭‭
      Isaiah‬ ‭55:8-9‬ ‭
This is by no means an exhaustive list of passages supporting the doctrine, but it’s enough to make the case that it IS biblically supported.

One quibble, Calvinism and dispensationalism are not mutually exclusing. I'd actually argue that on election they should in fact be in agreement for consistency sake. I think the speaker at one point claims that God has chosen a people, but doesn't choose individual people. Think about whether that really makes sense? The flip side is the reformed guy that sees election and preservation of the saints, but somehow sees Israel as having "lost their salvation". As to "mid-acts", Charles Baker clearly affirmed election. Harry Bultema, another "mid-acts" great, also affirmed election. John MacArthur, modern church freedom-fighter, is also of course both dispensational (though minimally) and calvinist. It's hard to believe that this isn't known by this speaker.

The people Paul is talking about being “in Christ before me” are part of the little flock of Israel or also known as the believing remnant of Israel that believed Jesus as the Christ. So with that being said there are two ways to be in Christ that the Bible presents, 1st is by a covenant relationship through the nation of Israel which is part of “prophecy” which we today are not a part of. The 2nd is by God’s grace through our faith in the gospel found in 1 Cor. 15: 3-4, which once we believe that gospel today immediately puts us into the “Body of Christ” which is the new creature Paul talks about, also which is the “mystery” he talks about throughout his epistles. Hope this helps

We were not chosen before the world began... We(everyone) were chosen in this dispensation to be saved IN HIM, by his grace he chose to save those who will believe on him through FAITH.
"Chosen IN HIM before the world began"
Seek him by FAITH in HIS works for righteousness and not by offering him YOUR works for righteousness!
    Romans 10
4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness TO every one that believeth.
    Romans 9
30What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
    32Wherefore? BECAUSE they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

If Jesus wasn't going to return soon( which scripture points it was near, very near) and didn't, why it seems like if it was urgent...?? Than not to come as he predicted?? Many scripture proves that the Christian thought jesus return was fast approaching. Even paul felt the same way. I don't think they had a clue about the future now. All cars, trains, technology,
And even Peter quoted prophecy claiming it was the end. Why? Make sense if he thought the world was going to end and Jesus would return. Why would Jesus say those things to give them many hopes up and preaching and going through all the trial for him not to return??? Would it matter if Jesus said I'm coming in a 100 years? Or u won't know when. But he did gave prediction and signs what they should expect. But none of that occured.

    “Whosoever” disproves Calvinism
ALL we who know God is love, know from 1 John 1:5, that "in him is no darkness whatsoever"; and we furthermore know, from 1 John 1:26, that "All that is in the world, the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."
God foreknew his blessings for both - those, in him, would also be blessed with the same blessings he chose for those he foreknew - Israel would be his people (Jacob's people), as well as whosoever believes in him, through their belief in Jesus Christ - the firstborn unto Salvation, whose co heirs are - all who believe in him.
"Whosoever," as John 3:16 states, is without one "but" added to it, but what is stated in it "shall not perish, but have eternal life."
Calvinists have confused foreknowledge with authorship, and this argument just proved that God is light, in him is no darkness whatsoever, man is responsible for his sins, and thank God for Jesus Christ, in that, through him alone we can have eternal life - "WHOSOEVER" believes in him.
Paul, in Galatians chapter 5, argues over Peter's blindsightedness of the circumcised and uncircumcised by stating "I wish they were cut off," (Galatians 5:12 - meaning - those agitators would both be excommunicated as well as, disemboweling themselves), and with such boldness, he demonstrated God’s hatred of SELF-righteousness, versus his love, shown in his mercy towards sinners turning towards him, whose reward is Salvation, sealed the Moment they believe in he who forgives the sins of the entire world, as clearly shown in Ephesians 1:13-14, illustrating the role of the Holy Spirit, sealing the promise and blessings of eternal life, for whosoever believes:
“13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”
John Calvin's understandings stemmed from his incorrect assessment, as he argued from his premise: "We are doomed from the womb," from which Calvinism is argued.
No, we are not “doomed from the womb;” for, "whosoever believes" proves otherwise… Please pray for those who believe otherwise - that “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus,” Philippians 4:7

I believe in election and predestination. I'm NOT a Calvinist. I follow no man OR any set of doctrines that I don't see clearly in Scripture repeatedly expressed by the WORD of God, Jesus.
God being sovereign is all over the scriptures. The dream that Nebuchadnezzar of the statue of the four kingdoms....should let you know the God not only knows what's going to happen in the future but he had declared it to be so to make his purposes come to pass. Psalms declares He raises Kings and takes them down. And man plants his ways but God directs it. We also know that God knows each one of us intimately from heaven because Jesus says the Father in heaven knows even the numbers of hair on your head and that if he takes care of you better than the birds and flowers if the fields... how much more will he take care of your spiritual need for salvation and growth in his truth let alone your everyday needs. God does think of us so much. Verses such as in Romans 8 when it says that God will work all things together for good to those who are called according to his purpose (spiritually and our life here).... He works all things out that means he is involved from beginning to end. I love the way you teach but brother you are wrong here about predestination and election. You may be right about Calvin and what he believed being somewhat erroneous. But ultimately God is in control by knowing things beforehand but also has predestined or predetermined them in advance such as the salvation of some. Keep in mind we are all dead and have sinned there's not one that was righteous but because God wants to make his glory known and exalt his love and mercy he has predestined some to everlasting life even though they deserved hell like everyone else. So it's not so much that God is predestined some to go to hell but that he has by the work of Christ redeem some out of hell. This teaching is hard thats why Paul explained some folks had in his day asked why does God find fault with us if we're all sinners and unable to do what is right...Romans 3:3-11 KJVS
For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? [4] God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. [5] But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) [6] God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? [7] For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? [8] And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just. [9] What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; [10] As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: [11] There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
He further explains while we are all dead by faith someone will live...Romans 4:16-17 KJVS
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, [17] (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Hear God is speaking of to Abraham about what God will do!!! God will make people of Faith out of Jews and gentiles. This is not just for knowledge but declaring things that will happen that God has willed. Plus here Paul is condemning the hyper -calvinist who says "well God has predestined me to heaven so I'm free from working out my salvation with fear and trembling" and those who say well if God is just gonna judge/condemning me then why don't I just keep doing more sin.... These are not what Paul thought but a TRUTH OF both ends: God is provincially working out everyone's salvation while still leaves it up to man to believe and hold them accountable for the decision he made with the gospel.
Jesus also explained this over and over in the book of John.
Why did the Jews not believe? Did God not predestine or prophesied that they wouldn't that he would make them jealous do the salvation and the relation to the gentiles would have with God through Jesus in the last days? The Jews saw Jesus they saw his works they heard his testimony yet still do not believe. Jesus said the flesh prophet of nothing it's not by the will of man that one beliefs is not what their intellect being stirred up but the spirit has to quicken you or make you alive. If the father does not make you born again you cannot be saved! A decision you make does not make you born again first you have to be given a heart of flesh which the holy Spirit does. There's not one man on this planet have left himself will be born again on his own. God acts first. God the Father gave children of Men to God the son. This is election and predestination. The Human heart can't handle the 'who' is elected to eternal life question. biblically speaking it doesn't matter!!! we should preach the gospel to all and whoever responds with faith and keeps believing till the end is the one who is saved from the beginning. Is calvinist used predestination election as a way of having a surety of salvation that is a problem or surety is that Jesus has done the finished work and that we believe today. In Jesus also said examine whether you bear fruit worthy of the Gospel if you are a believer. Predestination election are truly heaven's doctrine. God is in the heaven he does whatever he pleases. Our job is to believe in the Gospel of Jesus today.
    John 6:35-40,44-48,65 KJVS
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. [36] But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. [37] All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. [38] For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. [39] And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. [40] And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. [44] No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. [45] It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. [46] Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. [47] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. [48] I am that bread of life. [65] And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

I don’t think that there is anything in me that could have faith in God, except the Holy Spirit. So, I believe in regeneration before faith. Is it unjust that some are predestine to salvation? Yes, from our view it is unjust. But it is also unjust, from our vantage point as humans, that some are born into a Christian family with all the opportunities to be saved, while others never ever hear about Christ. I have also met people that were strangers to Christianity and suddenly felt compelled to go to a Billy Graham meeting, where they met Jesus. On the other hand, I have prayed for my children for almost 40 years, but they are still totally indifferent to the Gospel. So the question I have never got an answer to is this, if I am not predestined to be saved, is it just luck that I am born into a Christian family in a Christian country?

1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Timothy4:10..................who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. 2 Corinthians 5:.........that if one died for all, then were all dead. Question??????Why would Christ die for all and not save all. Question?????Who is more powerful, Adams sin for all or Christ died for all???? If many will stay dead?????why does it say death where is the sting. Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces;.....

There's nothing confusing about all men being sinners and spiritually dead. And God must regenerate them in order to be saved. God is sovereign in salvation in calvinism. Man is sovereign in salvation in anti-calvinism...thats the confusion.

God appeared to Moses in a burning bush. John the Baptist had the Holy Spirit in his mother’s womb. Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus. Jesus chose the Twelve. I’m not a Calvinist but it sure looks like God chooses to, at the very least, influence some towards salvation and others He leaves alone.

God chose those individual for a message to be delivered through them. He did not chose them as individually for salvation. Through foreknowledge could he have known they would believe and that they would be faithful stewards? Yes. But he did not chose them so that they mite believe and be saved.
Jesus called unto him his 12 disciples in Matthew 10 of those that were already following him. The twelve were already following Jesus since Matthew 4:19 before he chose them as Apostle In Matthew 10.
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
      Matthew 10:1 - AKJV
When he gave them power and then he named them Apostles in Matthew 10:2
      And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
      Luke 6:13 - AKJV
Paul said he obtained mercy not obtained salvation.
who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but 👉I obtained mercy👈, because I did it 👉ignorantly in unbelief👈. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause 👉I obtained mercy👈, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should 👉hereafter believe on him👈 to life everlasting.
      1 Timothy 1:13-16 - AKJV
Paul was not saved in unbelief he obtained mercy while in unbelief. When Christ appeared to him he then believed on Jesus Christ.
Faith produced salvation. Which should hereafter believe on Jesus. Not before chosen to believe.
that we should be to the praise of his glory, who 👉first trusted in Christ.👈 in whom ye also trusted, 👉after👈 that ye 👉heard the word of truth,👈 the gospel of your salvation: in whom also 👉after👈 that 👉ye believed,👈 ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
      Ephesians 1:12-13 - AKJV
You trust, you hear, you believe for salvation. Notice the words after ye heard, after ye believed ye were sealed not before.
For by grace are ye 👉saved through faith;👈 and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
      Ephesians 2:8 - AKJV
Faith is what justifies someone not because they were chosen.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
      Romans 4:5 - AKJV
John did not have the Holy Ghost in his mother womb. Read the verse again.
And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and 👉Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:👈
      Luke 1:41 - AKJV
John leaped in her womb Elisabeth was the one filled with the Holy Ghost.
The verse below says John shall be filled with the Holy Ghost not he is filled with the Holy Ghost and it is from his mother’s womb not in his mother’s womb.
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and 👉he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost👈, even 👉from👈 his mother’s womb.
      Luke 1:15 - AKJV

@@shannonhamby9720 God chooses who gets saved and when. Human free will is a terrible lie. Ephesians 1:1-12 makes that fact very clear. You have to distinguish between relative and absolute in scripture. We are not saved by our faith, we are saved by Christ’s faith that is given to us. We admonish people to “believe” because we don’t know whom God has chosen but we should understand that no one comes to God on his own.

@@CraigT104 here is some absolutes for you that are relative to this dispensation of the grace of God.
Here is speaking of what you MUST DO TO BE SAVED when the question is asked and Paul gave him someone to believe in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
and brought them out, and said, Sirs, 👉what must I do to be saved?👈 And they said, 👉Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ👈, and 👉thou shalt be saved👈, and thy house.
      Acts 16:30-31 - AKJV

      Romans 3:26 - AKJV
He is the justifier of them that where chosen? Your not justified until you have faith in Jesus and you can’t have salvation whiteout being justified by faith first.
but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, 👉if we believe on him👈 that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Therefore being 👉justified by faith👈, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

You were not predestinated or chosen have to everlasting life no you had to believe on him that the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to get everlasting life.
Ephesians 1:1-12 is for the faithful meaning they have already believed in Jesus by verse 12 and 15 that says who first trust in Christ, and heard of your faith. The predestined is those faithful already saved and are chosen because they first trusted in Christ to be in him to be in the body of Christ which was part of the mystery hidden in God. The body of Christ was what was predestined.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to 👉the faithful in Christ Jesus:👈

These people that are being written to are already in Christ and have already had faith in Christ.
that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first 👉trusted in Christ.👈
      Ephesians 1:12 - AKJV
The only way to get in Christ is by faith not by him choosing you to be in him which is what you add to the verse. The word TO BE IN HIM is what you add and imply to the verse.
according as he hath chosen us 👉in him👈before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
      Ephesians 1:4 - AKJV
The chosen us is the faithful believers in the body of Christ and He chose us that believe in him not to be in him.
in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
      Ephesians 1:13 - AKJV
No your not special God did not chose you but God chose his son and those that would believe are in him and those are the chosen from the foundation of the world are apart of the body of Christ not chosen to be in the body of Christ. Your just like everyone else you have to trust in Christ, hear the gospel, believe the gospel and then after that you are seal not chosen to be in him and not chosen to be sealed.
Don’t just stop at verse 12 keep going to verse 15.
Wherefore I also, after I heard of 👉your faith in the Lord Jesus👈, and love unto all the saints,
      Ephesians 1:15 AKJV
Their faith in the Lord Jesus explain verse 1 and 12-13 of why these were chosen in him not to be in him.
Verse 5 says he predestinated those that believe unto the adoption not predestinated us to salvation. Those spoken of in the verse already have salvation by their faith.
having 👉predestinated us unto the adoption of children👈 by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
      Ephesians 1:5 - AKJV
The only way you become a child of God is by faith in Jesus Christ.

It is a disgrace and a sin to leave out words from a quotation to falsely accuse someone of believing the opposite of what he actually believes.
Here is the complete quotation of what the speaker chose to read starting at the 26:22
III. Nevertheless, we must beware of the diabolical imagination of Servetus, who, while he designs to extol the magnitude of the grace of Christ, or at least professes such a design,
totally abolishes all the promises, as though they were terminated together with the law . He pretends that by faith in the gospel we receive the completion of all the promises; as though there were no distinction between us and Christ. I have just observed, that Christ left nothing incomplete of all that was essential to our salvation; but it is not a fair inference, that we already enjoy the benefits procured by him; for this would contradict the declaration of Paul , that “ hope is laid up for us. " ( e ) I grant , indeed, that when we believe in Christ, we at the same time pass from death to life ; but we should also remember the observation of John, that though we are now the
sons of God, it doth not yet appear what we shall be ; but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him ; for we shall see him as he is .” ( f ) Though Christ, therefore , offers us in the gospel a present plenitude of spiritual blessings, yet the fruition of them is concealed under the custody of hope, till we are divested of our corruptible body, and transfigured into the glory of him who has gone before us. In the meantime,,
the Holy Spirit commands us to rely on the promises ; and his authority we ought to consider sufficient to silence all the clamours of Servetus. For according to the testimony of Paul,
" godliness hath promise of the life that now is , and of that which is to come ; ” ( g) and therefore he boasts of being an Apostle of Christ, " according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus." ( h ) In another place he apprizes us that we
have the same promises which were given to the saints in former times. (i) Finally, he represents it as the summit of felicity, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. ( k)
Nor, indeed, have we otherwise any enjoyment of Christ, any further than as we embrace him invested with his promises.
Hence it is, that he dwells in our hearts, and yet we live like pilgrims at a distance from him ; because " we walk by faith ,
and not by sight.” Nor is there any contrariety in these two positions, that we possess in Christ all that belongs to the perfection of the life of heaven, and yet that faith is a vision of invisible blessings. Only there is a difference to be observed in the nature or quality of the promises; because the gospel affords a clear discovery of that which the law has represented in shadows and types.

Rc sproul is a calvinist, he believes in limited atonement. That means he doesn't believe certain parts of the Bible. Calvinism is man's philosophy. Calvinists presuppose calvinism when reading scripture. This causes errors such as believing "chosen in him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless" means "chosen before the foundation of the world to have faith and be saved"
