Plaka is a small seaside village located on the northeastern peninsula of Lemnos. The beach of Agios Stefanos is next to the village and is a beautiful long sandy beach with deep blue water. Around the area of Plaka, the earth is covered with a mud that many people believe to have health benefits. Take a mud bath or slather it over your body and wash it off when dry. Also at the edge of the bay is picturesque lighthouse. The ruins of a medieval fortress, Palaiokastro, are also nearby. There is evidence of an ancient city buried in the sea.
