@chronodriver This is my backyard trail. I have been riding Lawndale Trail for nearly 20 years and I never tire of it! Good job picking the right lines and keeping the speed up. If done right you can hit low 40mph in some sections-- it becomes a blur at that speed:).
I have looked at probably 100 videos today, and this is the FIRST one I've seen that doesn't have a bunch of annoying clattering music blaring in the background. Not every video needs a sound track. Thank you, sir. This earns a subscription, haha.
Nice man, great to see someone shredding lawndale like they should. It is literally in my backyard, hence I can point out three secret trails you passed on the way ;). You find yourself in sonoma again hit me up were always down for colorado...ans...
@chusshko Thanks it's actually an easy climb at only 5%, it's usually the warm up for the loop we do and the descent is the finish to the parking lot. As for the gearing it's maxed out at around 150rpm at about 30-35 MPH which is standard 22/32/42 and a 32/11 cassette.
@sgttaka007 That the Lawndale trail which is appropriately off Lawndale road. It is south of Santa Rosa towards Sonoma but before Kenwood on the right hand side. You go up the road about a mile and a half and there is a parking lot at the Lawndale trailhead. It's a great way to access the park because unlike the main entrance there is no park fee :) You can download an Annadel map of the park website, there are many options, it's a great place to ride...
I just road this trail for the first time (Diamondback Mission 2) yesterday and I wanted to put the bike through tests, play with fork/shock air pressure and just overall ride. Super fun trail!!! Great video but I think the GoPro could have been angled up a little more and a little less of the bike. I know how hard it is though to get it just right with no LCD screen. Looks like this is a better time of the year to go with harder pack from the rain. Yesterday was dry, sandy, and loose rocks.
@home11233 yes you have to pedal the whole thing if you want to have enough speed to rail the corners. The good news is that it means it's very climbable :)
Wow.... What a ride! You musta been wiped out after that. How long was that about 2 miles?? Looks awesome. How was the climb up?? Haaa.. what's the elevation?
@mcolburn123 Thanks, it's not that high, about 1400ft at the top of the park, that downhill is the very last thing I do at the end of a 23 mile ride so I'm pretty spent by the time I start descending let alone finish!
@gavra98 Thanks I agree... it was fun, unfortunately I don't work out there much anymore so I don't get to ride that trail anymore :( Don't feel too bad for me though, I live in Colorado (check my other videos :) )
@aguywitha I have tried several different positions, the chest mount gives a great view of the bike and a pretty solid view of the trail. Lately I've been doing a full face chin mount which is a bit higher and a lot smoother (but you see less bike). Check out some of my more recent videos (in Colorado) and tell me which one you like better. It's always good to have feedback :) Thanks
@pd101 the only answer for you at that price point would be craigslist. There are great bikes in that bike range that are a couple of years old. I would recommend a Giant, Santa Cruz, Trek or something like that. Make sure you ask for high res images so you can see all the components on the bike and their condition and take a buddy with you who understands Mountain Bikes. Used Mountain Bikes depreciate amazingly fast so it's a buyers market with pennies practically on the dollar... :)
Alas I don't spend much time out there anymore, back in Colorado full time... I really miss the great Nor Cal riding (not that Co. is bad or anything!).
Wow,this road is exellent:no any branches on the road, not like Russia(((( Why you did very big cadence on this semi-downhill route?Gear up! And,finally,I think it's will be very difficult to turn back on this route))))
@0kojack0 you should be able to watch in 720p on RUclips since they don't support the 960p format. It does, as always, look better from the original source at full resolution and no additional layers of compression. "Bruce" signing off! :)
@LeesOutdoorAdventure thanks, shot 960p 4:3 then trimmed in Quicktime Pro and that it. I know save in MP4 though this one is .MOV which is a bit more lossy and the sound get a step out of sync (why I switched to MP4).
@TheOlsMan123 personally don't have any experience there but there is a guy who posted he went over there and broke his arm! For me it's a slow corner, I worry more about spearing off into the Redwoods/rocks at a 30mph kink... neither good but the fast stuff has more potential for carnage
although this was taken in 960 do we only get to view it on youtube in 360p? (would the original video be higher quality if, say played on your laptop?) 3:25 sounds like bruce from family guy lol
@cal352 your kidding right!? that's exactly why mountain biking is so rewarding and so much fun! :) As for how dangerous... it's not, when you wreck on a MTB you get cuts and bruises mainly, when you wreck on a road bike you get road rash (best case) and maybe seriously injured or worse (if there was a car involved). MTBing is actually very safe considering the ridiculous level of fun!
@Deutscherfsbl Specialized Epic, the Trek is OK as a first MTB but to be honest you can get a much better bike if you go used for the same money. 1 or 2 year old MTB's are a great value especially if you are on a budget :)
@PVTKlim811 No Specialized Epic, my Colorado bike is a Santa Cruz Blur Carbon XC though, its in almost all my other videos (with the exception of Fruita Videos). It is a far far better bike than the Specialized Epic IMHO
@chronodriver People ask me the same question. I agree with you that because of the adrenaline rush you get when riding fast as fuck, and thinking "if I crash right now, I might break my neck (I don't use neckbrace, my parents won't bother paying for it lol (I'm 16, don't hate))" is what makes it fun, but I disagree with you that the sport isn't that dangerous. I've broken my ancle, given my knee a 3 inch long (quite deep) cut, and lots more. There's a reason we wear so much protection
hey guys a have a question.... so i been trying to go bikeing for a while now and i dont know what kinda bike i should buy can anyone help... these are the kinds of trials im looking to ride... need something reliable and if any no more then $500
Thanks :) GoPro actually makes the chest mount, works quite well though you will catch some grief from Seinfeld fans because it looks much like a 'bro' or 'manzier' lol

Awesome video. I did this trail today and it was AWESOME!!!!

awesome riding skills man! I kept leaning in my chair half of the turns :))
Great Trail, Great Recording...Very Nice!!!!

Way to charge it. Good technique. Favorite trail in the park by far.
Awesome.
Good ride--Lawndale looks great.
@home11233 yes you have to pedal the whole thing if you want to have enough speed to rail the corners. The good news is that it means it's very climbable :)
very cool!!! I would love to know how you attached the camera to your chest well enough to get such good footage!
Thanks Dude! :) I need to go back and ride there again, my work no longer takes me out there which is a bummer...
@kunalhuhu it's in Annadel SP, that trail is Lawndale, have fun :)
All I can say is Verrry Nice Handling, I thought at some Corners you went way too fast, but luckily you hit the brakes Before them! Thumbs up vid!
@gazsuper1600 it's a GoPro HD shooting 960p (4:3 aspect ratio) mounted with a GoPro "Chesty" mount.
@Dr4ch3nst3in the descent in the video is about three miles, it is the last few miles of a 24 mile loop
I always wanted to film my biking "first person" =) I like this!
Wow.... What a ride! You musta been wiped out after that. How long was that about 2 miles?? Looks awesome. How was the climb up?? Haaa.. what's the elevation?
@chronodriver k thx!!! im just getting into mountain biking, so im trying to learn all the cool stuff. thx again!!!!
@gazsuper1600 it is a GoPro HD with a "chesty" mount shooting 960p
@msujedi Yes chest mount, I have since moved on to chin mount full face (check my more recent Colorado videos), I like that even better.
@mcolburn123 Thanks, it's not that high, about 1400ft at the top of the park, that downhill is the very last thing I do at the end of a 23 mile ride so I'm pretty spent by the time I start descending let alone finish!
Buen vídeo compadre, Saludos desde Chile
I LOVE Lawndale!! Its my favorite at Annadel.
@opmike343 lol, Thanks, am I weird to think the bike and rider sounds are part of the viewing experience?
@gavra98 Thanks I agree... it was fun, unfortunately I don't work out there much anymore so I don't get to ride that trail anymore :(
Don't feel too bad for me though, I live in Colorado (check my other videos :) )
Thanks, you're too kind :) , the bike is an 2006 Specialized Epic Comp
@kunalhuhu thanks, it's in northern California near Santa Rosa
@aguywitha I have tried several different positions, the chest mount gives a great view of the bike and a pretty solid view of the trail. @Mtnbikedan24 Ouch, that hairpin is diabolical, lots of ways to crash, did you go over the edge or land in the rocks?
mezmerizing, might have to get me one of those cameras. nice one
Was this shot with a go pro? and if so was it mounted on a chest mount? Love the angle great video.

superbe descente et magnifique single merci

"Bruce" signing off! :)
@chronodriver sweet thanks cant wait to try it out
@Iano1233 No but might as well be (not a big fan of the Epic rear suspension)
@airsoftesneeto ha! thanks, liked your comment and you'll like the whole park, it has many great trails :)
@giannisometalas This is my backyard trail. I have been riding Lawndale Trail for nearly 20 years and I never get tired of it.
that looked like a pretty decent loop..nice
@LeesOutdoorAdventure thanks, shot 960p 4:3 then trimmed in Quicktime Pro and that it. I know save in MP4 though this one is .MOV which is a bit more lossy and the sound get a step out of sync (why I switched to MP4).
@Ke0V That's a 2006 Specialized Epic
@giantHUCKER1 no, it's a Specialized Epic Comp

@BruinBrass Thanks you are too kind! :)
@tonkatoyz1970 Thanks, camera is awesome, you won't regret it :)
GREAT video.
Cool video, I watched it twice.

@chronodriver thanks man! i will have fun!
@TheOlsMan123 personally don't have any experience there but there is a guy who posted he went over there and broke his arm! For me it's a slow corner, I worry more about spearing off into the Redwoods/rocks at a 30mph kink... neither good but the fast stuff has more potential for carnage

@chronodriver I love to go n ride bike with friends sometimes all day long, that's why I love long tracks
Thanks it's a 2006 Specialized Epic
Nice ride, bro!
@Deutscherfsbl Specialized Epic, the Trek is OK as a first MTB but to be honest you can get a much better bike if you go used for the same money. 1 or 2 year old MTB's are a great value especially if you are on a budget :)
Cool vid!! What bike are u riding? Rgds from Denmark :)
ten years to reply: Specialized Epic, for my Co videos: Santa Cruz Blur XC
Couple questions: where is this? Why do you chest mount it?(it causes the center of the picture to be on your forks instead of the trail it self)
@DreiLeaux Thanks and 2006 Specialized Epic Comp
@Albon2 yes, yes and thank you :)
@OWENDYKES32 WAS my work car when I was out there, fun little thing.
@chronodriver I've startled a few people up there myself.:) But sadly, I've been slacking off and not riding as much as I should.
thats the way gopro videos should be done no music no camera angles just a long video
@Josefista Thanks :)
@PVTKlim811 No Specialized Epic, my Colorado bike is a Santa Cruz Blur Carbon XC though, its in almost all my other videos (with the exception of Fruita Videos). It is a far far better bike than the Specialized Epic IMHO
Nice run man
@Mtnbikedan24 ahh crap, both huh? hope it healed well and you back riding at 100% :)
@pilviu Thanks, glad you didn't fall out of the chair! ;)
nice video dude

Way to go i would mtb but im poor so i cant afford this nice of a bike I guess thats why the web is here and thats why i subed to you
That was my Specialized Epic, now my sons!
@keefloe Thanks :)
Where was the camera mounted? The POV looks too low for it to be on your helmet. It looks roughly chest height.
@Mattmillerhahaha can be for sure, just not that time! :)
@chronodriver I live in santa rosa how do i get to that trail. and did u start where u ended?
@EvanJS5 is there talk of that?!
so fast, so epic.
way to ride over the wooden beam like a boss
awesome- go pro rules- nic eriding
@msujedi hey guys is there some good trails to go DH
nice, that was fun!
@Shahe5 wow errr thanks ;)
@borninusa98 so sad, used bikes are cheap though and you don't need anything fancy to have fun, we all started out on $20 clunkers at some point!
Thanks :) GoPro actually makes the chest mount, works quite well though you will catch some grief from Seinfeld fans because it looks much like a 'bro' or 'manzier' lol
Very nice, But some background music wouldn't be terrible?
