    প্রগতিশীল থেকে হঠাৎ প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল হওয়ার গল্প ৷ কিন্তু বিপ্লব যাদের রক্তে তারা এই পরিবর্তনকে সহজে মেনে নেয় না ৷ তারা সারাজীবনই লড়াকু থেকে যায় ৷ এ ফিল্মের আর একটা নাম হতে পারত "গোত্রান্তর" ৷ একটি অসাধারণ ছবি ৷ চিত্রনাট্য ও পরিচালনা চমৎকার ৷

    • @romykundu6162
      @romykundu6162 3 года назад +1

      It is not that we are a diluted community. Most Bengalis stays outside Bengal now. That's one reason. Another might be Hindi film industry surprisingly have maximum successful Bengalis. I admit that we like more Hindi movies. So those who act in Bengali movies are also Hindi movie fans actually.

    • @raunakjoy
      @raunakjoy 2 года назад

      Bro, Sourav above has made a very valid point. And it's not true that most Bengalis live outside Bengal or Bengali speaking areas today. Infact, 85% of all bangla speakers in India live within West Bengal. Another 10% live in Tripura (which is majorly a Bangla speaking state) and Assam (where Bangla is recognised as an official language in the three districts of Barak valley). Another 4% or so live in Jharkhand and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (where again Bangla is official language). So, by any yardstick, not more than 1% of total Indian Bengali population lives outside of Bangla speaking areas. Yet, our film market hasn't reached its true potential, especially given its humongous base population. Quality isn't definitely the issue. After all this is the state that has produced the most number of best filmmakers in the nation in the form of Ray, Ghatak, Sen, Sinha, Dasgupta etc. Even today, the likes of Aditya Vikram Sengupta, Atanu Ghosh, Kaushik Ganguly, Srijit Mukherjee, Shiboprasad & Nandita, among others, are making some extremely fine films. Still, in terms of market reach, we remain far behind. And that's simply because, unlike the South, we don't patronize our own cinema. We go gaga over Hindi films, inspite of the fact that for most years of our cinematic history, Bangla cinema has always been ahead when it comes to quality films (and that includes even so- called commercial films)
      How many Bengalis are aware that between 1931- 85 i.e. for over 50 years (that's half a century btw), around 200 bangla films were remade across the country in various industries - be it Hindi, South, Marathi or Odia. In contrast, Bangla cinema in the same period, only made 1 remake from other fellow Indian film industries. Even later, films like Pratikar, Choto Bou and others, which many of us make fun of quite unfairly, were remade in South and Hindi. But, we never encouraged such makers of original albeit formulaic/commercial films. We only derided them. Consequently, our industry got bereft of such makers and many of our producers had to resort to remaking from down South - a sort of reverse traffic from what was seen in the past. But this is besides the point.
      Point is we don't support our own artistes, our own industry unlike South. Can anyone imagine a Bangla remake of 3 idiots or Dabangg working? No one can - because guess what almost all of us have already seen those films in the original- and so a remake will invariably fail. But Tamil and Telugu remakes of such films have not only been made, but also turned out to be big successes, which just goes onto show how much they love their own industry, that they don't even see arguably the two biggest Hindi hits of the last 12- 15 years or so. And mind you, this is in the times of globalisation!!
      In contrast, we surely are a diluted community (as our friend stated above). We run after the hype of Hindi cinema (yes, some of our brothers and sisters have and are still making great contributions in the field of Hindi cinema - but that's not the reason why we follow or patronize Bollywood) in the hope of getting more acceptance from our peers and come across as more pan- indian, which is rather funny. I say funny, because as intelligent beings our focus should be on quality, not hype. Also, the beauty of our nation lies in its diversity. If some people had to lose out on their own identity to come across as more "National", then surely the entire essence of our beautiful country goes for a toss. And that's a tragedy, brother.

      I think it is a reflection of the way most people in any society view movies, regardless of industry (Bengali,Hindi,Tamil, Telugu, Kannada,etc.). Masala movies with action+comedy+chocolate boy-girl romance+item song has outperformed thinking person's movies with a realistic story, be it in theatrical box office collection or RUclips views. If you don't believe me then just go check the highest box office collection movies of last 30-40 years. To give you a perfect summary example, Mithun Chakraborty is a 3-time National Award winning actor but he is best known for "Disco Dancer". That is the saddest part. Maratha Mandir will continue showing DDLJ even 26 years after release but a theatre is yet to show Swades or Dil Se or Chak de India in the same continuous matter. Bengali arthouse films are suffering because most people have been conditioned to watching Mithun'da or Bumba'da (later on Jeet and Deb) dance in gardens, hills, lakes, beaches and discos with heroines and fight alone with 15-20 goondas and have no patience or maturity to watch a real-world story with realistic acting. And producers are gradually getting discouraged by box office figures from financing an arthouse film. It's not that our masala film actors are bad actors , in fact if given a realistic everyday role under a capable director they can give a good (even great) performance too, but they are too few and far inbetween. Lack of visibility of these old good movies leads to lack of knowledge about these movies which in turn leads to lack of people searching for these movies. We are lucky that it is now available for free watch on RUclips. Instead of getting busy blaming things out of our control (which is waste of time), I believe the best we can and should do is spread word of mouth and share link between friends and acquaintances about these movies so they are not forgotten.
