The jog wheel (the edge of the CDJ platter) speeds it up/slows it down temporarily for beatmatching. Think about it like a wheel with a weak motor that makes it spin but imagine it has a Diff on it so you can slow it down and speed it up; it will return to the same speed. Pretty much to make the beats flow together. The platter (the circle on the top of the CDJ) allows you to move through the track quite fast to get to the right part or to scratch like a vynil record. watch some CDJ vids.
with actual vynil, you can use the pin in the middle to slow/speed up the spin of the record temporarily but only slightly. You can also use the edge of the turntable platter but don't do that as it can damage the turntable. The vynil itself sits on a slip mat so that it can turn when a greater force than the turntable is placed on it, i.e. your hand so you can speed it up/slow it down significantly or make the scratch sounds. The tempo slider changes the speed that the record is played at
I'm not sure why a great DJ mix turned into a controversial argument over which is a better DJ, perhaps you should turn the light off, turn this up, sit back and appreciate a good mix, they both achieve great mixes ,and its great to see that they work together to make some great music happen, Keep it up cotts, you've got fans everywhere : ) -W.A

Oi Cotts! Any chance you could do an uptempo D&B mix? Noticed some of the first minutes sounded a lot like some of the old Pendulum beats which got me thinking that a D&B mix from DJ Cotts would be epic nice!
