They have lent the money to the state, the state has increased the debts. No bank debt involved.

I think that the "mainstream" parties in the UK are gripped by austerity mania, they can´t think about problems any other way. To give the new government their due, one thing I think they will be better at than the Tories is day-to-day running of government departments, but that´s not enough to sort out the big structural problems the UK has. There are plenty of decent policies we could implement that wouldn´t cost the government a lot as you say, i.e Corbyn´s policy of requiring companies to give their workers shares and seats on the board of directors is a great one. Another good policy would be to give workers protection from unfair dismissal after 6 months instead of two years. I think it´s utterly ludicrous to think that any employer needs two years to decide whether or not someone is competent enough to do the job.

Final salary pensions are not available to blue collar workers and youngsters leaving school and university. Changing the UK by changing our constitution is a bad idea. Labour is looking to "progress" through the dilution of British culture and the installation of hard left policy. The reason we are in such a bad place is due to Labour. The changes they have made have been, mostly to the detriment of Britain, not for the better. Even though Labour has the Trade Unions at its heart, they will help the farmers, food makers, and manufacturers first. The only way that the UK can trade with the EU, is to enter into the common market and the custom's union. They need not join the political union. All it takes is the safety of food, goods and products that businesses already understand. Get trade working with the EU. They have the best universal standards that have never been rejected by the rest of the world.

The minimum wage was an absolute disaster for those of us who were young and struggling when it came it - it pushed wages down considerably, and we could see it happen before our eyes. Before, you'd go into a job centre and there'd be a range of pay and competition - if they were serious they had to pay up. Suddenly everything was stuck at the (too low) national minimum wage, and there was no variation or choice if that was your only option. Employers gave everyone the same blank answer - "it's the minimum wage", end of conversation. Worse, it created a huge illegal pay market, where people paying cash in hand for off-the-books jobs (off the employers' books i mean) were always paying less than it, whereas previously they didn't really know what to pay. Peoples wages in markets went down and down, not just in 'real terms' but simply down - by the time you counted in the 'unpaid' hours people were working for four pounds an hour. A minimum wage either has to be at a reasonable level, which of course it never is. But tbh, i had sympathy with employers too who needed flexibility to get their business off the ground, sometimes times are tough and you have to drop a wage, some times it's good you can pay more. The minimum wage was and is a straitjacket. (And then there's National Insurance, where hope you do a video on that - because nothing, absolutely nothing, is more of a handicap to starting new businesses, or getting a small job, than that. Introduced as a Lloyd George slight-of-hand to get it through, now just a lead weight on everybody).

Minimum wage wasnt a benefit. It has consistently outpaced the natural market wage growth. People like to talk about raising the floor because it makes them feel good. Raising the floor might seem like youre lifting people up, but in actuallity minimum wage is a net, a net more find themselves caught in and yet more feel drawing ever closer. I worked in electronics 30 years ago. It used to pay roughly 2.5x what a shelf stacker would earn, now the difference at tech level is about 8k. Its not worth the additional education and years of training to earn 8k more. Many on building sites and other industries not doing piece work are in the same boat; their wages barely rise year on year while the net draws ever closer
Thought I'd add another thing. Remember the days where someone who had done badly at school or possibly dropped out could get a job sweeping the floor, and if they showed enough interest, and enough grit they could land an apprenticeship. Minimum wage took that away. It now costs too much to take someone on to do a menial job the skilled workers should be doing themselves anyway Talk to people your own age or older and ask how many used to get their break that way

Even though Labour has the Trade Unions at its heart, they will help the farmers, food makers, and manufacturers first. The only way that the UK can trade with the EU, is to enter into the common market and the custom's union. They need not join the political union. All it takes is the safety of food, goods and products that businesses already understand. Get trade working with the EU. They have the best universal standards that have never been rejected by the rest of the world.
We have kept most EU standards as we need them to trade with EU, and as you say most of the world. The nearest to what you are saying is the EEA. But free movement of goods requires free movement of people. Some people on here don’t like that. Farage said he would never take us out of the Single market and Customs union.

Labour want to look at the Canadian model,of massive childcare subsidies….Canada have worked out it’s possible to make childcare very cheap and the increase in parents working brings in more revenue than childcare costs.
Labour want to negotiate reduced trade barriers with EU, esp on agri foods.
These are all ways to make positive change without huge cost

In the 1980s labour despite having huge union following did nothing to stop the outsourcing of most of our industry. They also did nothing to stop the Poll Tax for people who were made unemployed. They thought it was fine that some one who had millions paid the same amount of poll tax as the newly unemployed. Teaching our children that they can be any rainbow colour they want to be is a crime against humanity.
And when blair came in he started the invasion of britain which is the source of most of our problems today such as housing costs, energy bills, inflation. Have never understood how the left have this huge blind spot when it comes to immigration despite being more sensible everywhere else

Skilled workers of course earn more than that so aren't affected.
it's the unskilled and the non working migrants who then have a decision to make.
Implementation is easy. NI register contains the details. A simple DB query, and the letters/emails go out to employees. The money rolls in next month.
Next, all economic migrants should have to fill out an annual tax form. We then send the demands out for any short fall.

Labour will not be around much longer
The minimum wage was an absolute disaster for those of us who were young and struggling when it came it - it pushed wages down considerably, and we could see it happen before our eyes. Before, you'd go into a job centre and there'd be a range of pay and competition - if they were serious they had to pay up. Suddenly everything was stuck at the (too low) national minimum wage, and there was no variation or choice if that was your only option. Employers gave everyone the same blank answer - "it's the minimum wage", end of conversation. Worse, it created a huge illegal pay market, where people paying cash in hand for off-the-books jobs (off the employers' books i mean) were always paying less than it, whereas previously they didn't really know what to pay. Peoples wages in markets went down and down, not just in 'real terms' but simply down - by the time you counted in the 'unpaid' hours people were working for four pounds an hour. A minimum wage either has to be at a reasonable level, which of course it never is. But tbh, i had sympathy with employers too who needed flexibility to get their business off the ground, sometimes times are tough and you have to drop a wage, some times it's good you can pay more. The minimum wage was and is a straitjacket. (And then there's National Insurance, where hope you do a video on that - because nothing, absolutely nothing, is more of a handicap to starting new businesses, or getting a small job, than that. Introduced as a Lloyd George slight-of-hand to get it through, now just a lead weight on everybody).

Minimum wage wasnt a benefit.
It has consistently outpaced the natural market wage growth.
People like to talk about raising the floor because it makes them feel good.
Raising the floor might seem like youre lifting people up, but in actuallity minimum wage is a net, a net more find themselves caught in and yet more feel drawing ever closer.
I worked in electronics 30 years ago. It used to pay roughly 2.5x what a shelf stacker would earn, now the difference at tech level is about 8k. Its not worth the additional education and years of training to earn 8k more.
Many on building sites and other industries not doing piece work are in the same boat; their wages barely rise year on year while the net draws ever closer
Thought I'd add another thing.
Remember the days where someone who had done badly at school or possibly dropped out could get a job sweeping the floor, and if they showed enough interest, and enough grit they could land an apprenticeship.
Minimum wage took that away. It now costs too much to take someone on to do a menial job the skilled workers should be doing themselves anyway
Talk to people your own age or older and ask how many used to get their break that way
