- This video is sponsored by Archtop Laminates oy. They make professional grade Archtop hollow body guitar kits. The model I build in thise video is 33s.
This was a really fun project! since I’ve always wanted a hollow body guitar.
I recommend this kit for those who already have some experience in guitar building or for people who have an experienced luthier by their side during the build.

Huge respect showing all the struggles with finishing.. turns out a beaut in the end ❤
That's why you do ALL of the drilling before you apply the finish. I think every guitar builder figured this out the same way.
Cool build! Pretty cool kit. Nice work getting through all those finish problems!
Well done Jukka! Seems damn near perfect to me. Really enjoyed the video, thank you for sharing. Keep on rocking! 🤘🏼
🙏
it is just a shame that these kits don't come with a neck. if i have to manufacture the neck, i might aswell make the laminates for the body :/
the guitar you build is very cool! really like the look without f-holes
Beautiful job. Love the headstock.
Beautiful work!!!
What a journey
Excellent job 👍👍
When professionals leave their mistakes in, it makes an idiot like me hopeful
The clean tones from the custom sound so nice.
Профессионалы делают свои ошибки незаметными.
Nice. I’d put a pickguard on it. Great job.
Awesome looking guitar! 🤘
unbelievable! 😮
"oli hyvä refleksi" 😂👍🏻👍🏻 Nice save
FANTASTIC
Great
The piezo cuts frequency because of its impedance! So when you turn it on it basically acts as a capacitor (anybody correct me if I’m wrong). I have made the same on a strat. Only way around it is with some active electronics. If you roll off the volume pot however, you should get mostly pure piezo sound
you are right, man! it acts as a capacitor!
Beautiful
Thank you!🙏
Miten kaunotar. Onnea Jukkis ;-)
There is no meaning of kit, if neck , fret board etc are missing and we have to split sides on bending machine, none of home builder has these machines at home, you have to improvise your kit , so a home builder can build this beauty at home with out having expensive machine.
How much time for building this instrument?
it felt like it took forever to finish this as I messed up the finish of the guitar so many times and had to wait for the varnish to dry, I think I spent 3 months building this guitar even though I was also doing other projects on the side✌️
@@SuperGuitarProject thank you!
Damn phones. Kit made in China? Hopefully not but what isn’t made there these days. Which is why the only choice I’ve seen so far is cut everything yourself. Hope these are made in the USA or any place but China. It’s a geopolitical thing and I’m tired of sending them money so they can build their military. Ok, on with the show. Thanks for this. Finland, man I hope they make this kit there and not just a reseller. Sent them an email. Thanks. OK so I watched to the end and seeing that you built this in Finland is very cool and gives me hope that the body was also built in Finland. I won’t go this way if body made in China. Glad you posted the mistakes as well. Top to wavy, needs more prep time to get smooth. So did you take some old Seymour Duncan pickups and rewind them? Novel approach. Hard for sounds to come through RUclips. Piezo pickups would be good for the Boss or Roland sound effects and no need for add on kit but it means using the same jack. Not sure how that’ll work with the other devices but hey it could be ok. Great video to learn from. Thank you
No f holes on a semi acoustic?
BB King had Gibson build his later Lucilles that way to dramatically reduce feedback. I think they still make that option.
Just buy the kit and don’t forget add some half a million bucks tools with shop :)
Waw
Can you build one for me
What did I see? You had issues, and over came as required, then you wax potted the Pick Ups, no chance Harley Benton (feedback pickups) will hire you. Nice one.
I always tought the electronic instalation in the semihollow guitars is so stupid. come on make a holly s@#$% hole in the back of the guitar and there you go.
not a hollow body
Good looking guitar.
You managed to overcome difficulties and, better yet, had the courage to show them in video, so we can learn from your mistakes.
I reckon most of them should have been dismissed if you had drilled ALL the holes in the top before finishing.
Another thing that baffles me is that you decided to omit the f holes. I don't know if that detracts from the overall acoustic sound of the instrument, but definitely should have made installing the controls a lot easier.
I assume you did it on purpose to get a more modern look, so hats off to your ingenuity to make the installation work.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Incredible job. Not many people could have built that guitar.
Thanks! this kit may not be the best for beginners, but if you already have some experience in guitar building or you have person you can ask for help if needed then it’s definetly possible!👌
I never saw a semihollow guitar without the f holes. It's unforgivable
Look at BB King's Lucille, it has no "F" holes in it.
Awesome
Superb video!! a pleasure to watch, I've been a master cabinetmaker for almost 30 years, this was my first guitar build video, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you for sharing.....(subscribed)

Did you install the ground wire? I missed that if you did..
Just what i was looking for. Amazing job on this one
Superb work
Hyvä hyvä, Jukka! Tosin kyllähän osaava luuttumies kokoaa paljon halvemmallakin itselleen soittokelpoisen kepin, 490€ on jokseenkin suolainen hinta koivun siivuista. Mutta eipähän sitä valmiiksi rakennellunkaan kepin hinnassa ole muutakuin ilmaa.
Nice work, well done, congratulations! One question... did you model the top and the back only with the baces? I built an acoustic and would like to make a hollow with the same construction typology... thank you very much and again very good!
No, they were actually pre modeled by archtoplaminates and their laminate press. I just construcrted pre laminated top back and sides on this project.
@@SuperGuitarProject ok ok thanks =)
Buenas Rodri.
Too expensive for me. I can make one for a lot less money. It is a nice kit as far as the body goes. But the kit does not come with the fret board and neck woods. Plus, the cost of shipping to the USA is expensive as well. Good video, just not going to spend the kind of money they want. I made my version of an ES335 from scratch. Sold it last week. Was thinking of making another one. Thought a kit would save me some time. But I won't be buying this kit.
Смотрел от начала до конца, как заворожённый! Какое счастье когда идея воплощается в жизнь, да ещё и в виде такого прекрасного инструмента ! Мастер с большой буквы М.
Полуакустика без эфов это нонсенс.
Wasn't packed very well.
What kit and from where?
I think you should not passively mix piezo and magnetic pickups because of the impedance differences. So I would either add an active buffer/mixer circuit or give the Piezo it's own output. When I do this, I route the piezo to the right channel of a stereo jack. Like that if you have a mono jack plugged in you'll have the mag pickup. If you plug a stereo jack you can route each pickup through it's own processing chain / amp
Theoretical you are right, but in my guitar it works good. As far as i can see, the potentiometers should be wired the other way round, so the amp always sees the same resistance and the signal goes to the middle. I would also try a high resistance for the poti at the piezo (1M)
Awesome job!
What is the best way of wiring both humbucker and piezo to the same out put giving option of blending between the two?
hi that's an interesting question but I haven't figured it out yet, my best guess is that I need to use a stereo guitar jack instead of a normal jack
@@SuperGuitarProject Okay thanks.
The way I wired this piezo worked alone well, but when I added humbuckers It didin’t work the same, possible solution could be using stereo jack with three wiring spots, and wire piezo ground/hot to that third spot. I haven’t tried it out yet but I’ll try to fix the electronics in future
@@SuperGuitarProject This is very helpful. I'll try and let you know
Great work. Very impressive. Enjoyed the video.
Mr. Jukka, Despite the difficulties you faced making the guitar, it is truly a masterpiece. I'm also impressed with your ability to use the tools you have. I think you are a master of your work! Excellent!
@@EssEnn-p3c Not a master yet, but im glad you liked it😃 thanks!🙏
GREAT JOB, WELL DONE
Like a Gibson 335.
