    This was super helpful, thank you. A couple of follow up questions - can you use this export to run the report for every customer individually and save those individual files with the customer's name from the customer name field?

    • @599CD
      @599CD 9 месяцев назад

      Yes, that's what's covered in the Extended Cut, and since you remember, you should go watch that. I think I used the customer ID, but you could very easily use their name.

    Can we use ACCESS as CRM/ERP software for a tiny company? Adding client names, details, contacts, receiving orders, generating cost estimates in PDF, generating order confirmation in PDF, adding ops-related data into ACCESS? Can we use ACCESS as a cloud version and anyone from the organization can access it through OneDrive?

    My understanding is populate the data into the PDF template and generate the different reports. It is not simply populate to create the new file

      Populating existing PDFs requires the full paid version of Acrobat, which I do not use.

    What would the VBA code be to export a Report to a "Save As" dialogue box that would allow you to save the report as an Excel File? I a using Access 2007-2016 version and have not been able to find anything on Chat GBT that works

    Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Normally, I'll set my reports to open in print preview. If I export to "PDF or XPS" using the Ribbon, the PDF will automatically open after it's exported. Is there a way to do this using the method you've shown us here?

    Thank you so much Richard for the valuable lesson. This is part of what I need. Is there any possibility that you can have the digital signature field in the automatic pdf conversion? Ex: a database is developed to show all differernt tasks assigned to different users. Your video shows that the button could automatically generate the pdf converted from the report once clicked. Is it possible that pdf (that has the name of the assigned user) include the assigned user's digital signature too? thank you so much Richard.

      The only way I could think of to do that would be to use two subreports and then export them together as a single report.

      If that's the case, export to a temp table first, and then use the temp table to create your PDF and Excel data - it will be the same.

      Use the same criteria to generate a REPORT. That's what you export. Reports are for printing or making PDFs. Forms are for use on the SCREEN for data entry.

      You really can't do that with just Access. You'd need a PDF tool to merge two PDFs together. You could try using a Report with Subreports.

    Hi Richard,
    I'm having one problem with this, otherwise it's working great, I can't believe it was just one line.
    After generating the PDF I open it up and the images that aren't embedded in the report are not shown (they get their filename from a text box on a different page). These will show if I opened the report and use the Print to PDF option but not 'automatically' generating the report.

I only check RUclips comments maybe once a week, so do me a favor and post this in the Access Forum on my web site: 599cd.com/AF. Be sure to include all of the details and post screen shots if you need to. I've got a fantastic group of admins on my site that love to help answer questions, too.
