Underlying health issues, diagnosed or undiagnosed, can make those otherwise very safe hot springs deadly. I am sure she must not have known about an undiagnosed health issue, the most likely reason. So very sad. Prayers for her oved ones.
My condolences to her family and friends. Poor lady was still young. I imagine she must of had an unknown heart condition. Rest in Peace.

Perhaps the constant X-class solar flares this past week caused some sort of geo-magnetic or tectonic changes, down below the surface.
I read something a few years ago, about a guy and his two dogs, that routinely visited a certain hot-spring & went swimming. That one last time, the dogs jumped in as usual, and then started screaming in pain. The guy jumped in to save them & get the dogs out, but realized that the normally nice & warm hot-springs,were now super-hot.
Both of the dogs died, and the man himself was covered with serious burns. SOMETHING had happened geomagnetically/ tectonically, that changed the temperature of the hot-spring water greatly. I bought a laser temperature gauge after that, but that still wouldn't give temperature readings from deeper down.
Perhaps this same thing happened at THOSE hot-springs. RIP to the woman, and condolences to all of her grieving loved ones.

Sorry you were so distracted with shoulder shrugging that you couldn't make sense of what was happening in the story. That must be a terrible way to live. I'm praying for you.
