The Dendrobium amethystoglossum is a tall Dendrobium species which is a common sight in many serious orchid collections. More about it here www.orchidspeci...
Since I don't think I am 100% on top of its care, I will just share with you my observations on this orchid. The spots on the leaves came with the plant and the new growth developed them too. On the internet I can find a few images with similar looking plants, but other plants look better, so I will give it some more research.
I find this top be a typical rest Dendrobium, but it doesn't need a very drastic rest or dormancy. It loves water and nutrients in the growing season and will bloom beautifully in spring.
Flowers don;t last long though, but the display s gorgeous!

Just realized a white background was not a good idea for white flowers.. not sure what compelled me, thought I'd focus more on the green parts but nope lol but will be careful next time! Sorry!
MissOrchidGirl hi, I have the same black coloring on the Conner in most leaves, I still don’t know what causes it.
RickL has a lot to say about Browning tips. He also does hydro and talks at length about magnesium, calcium and other deficiencies. Just a suggestion as I figure you already know about him.
I would really like to now what caused the black spots and black leaf tips, please let us know when you find out!
Красота ! ♡♡♡
HI Danni, I am in Paphos next week, any recommendation where I can buy orchid supplies/see some orchids possibly? We don't have anything where I live ( in a desert 😅)
Hi Danny, I have a dendrobium linguela and I’m not sure if it is actually rare because when I bought it the eBay seller said it was a rare species, is it true?
Just wondering if you ever figured out what was causing the black spots/black leaf tips? I bought one of these about a year ago and it was beautiful and green no black areas. But now its looking more like yours and I can't figure out why. I don't think its salt build up bc i rinse the orchid media every other watering. I also fertilize with the repot me MSU fertilizer for orchids.
Hi Dani, can please share why the were black spots on the leaves and some look shriveled. Also what’s the potting mix for this. I want to make sure that I’ll be using the right potting mix because I don’t want the flower to come out with a different color (Which happened to my other dendrobium. Thanks!
hello! does this type of dendrobrium needs to stay in a fresh place during winter?
Were you able to find out what causes the black spots on the leaves? Mine has the same 😔
You mentioned about Dendrobiums not being rare orchids - maybe you could consider making a video about your most rare and expensive orchids?
love the pendant blooms !! thank you so much for his video danni , i'm getting a few dendrobiums and i'm slightly nervous about whether i know enough about their species, because each is a species. So this video was a really good refresher on dendrobiums, i really needed that ! btw : still working on getting you an orchid , i was thinking of getting you a novelty orchid like a cattleya schilleriana which i couldn't keep alive , and i was interested maybe if you could ?! it would be fun to compare notes ... or maybe somewhere down the line , you could do a video on it , how to bloom it if you are successful in doing so!! haha .. i was just thinking of something interesting for your channel! xoxoxo Leah
I just love this orchid but shame about leaves hope you sort it out .All the best with sorting orchid out .
It isnt very amethysty, but it sure is pretty. Looks very exotic. :)
Good luck in getting this big girl healthy. Can't wait to see her progress.
Beautiful flowers though. I would love to have one.
Hi Danny could you perhaps use a different (darker) background almost everything disappears into the background ;-)
Yep I realized after filming :( will be careful next time, sorry!
Thank you ;-)
Hi Danni, ive just ordered one of these, wish me luck. Xxx
Good luck!
