    These videos have been so easy to understand and I appreciate how wonderfully articulate you are. It’s also refreshing to see and hear that you are not so animated like some of the other investing steamers on this app. Thank you!

      Hello. Vanguard is a low cost platform through which you could invest in the S&P500. You could consider Nationwide, First Direct and Natwest for the high interest savings account. Hope this helps!

      @@theplaylabchicago thank you so much! You should be able to invest with Vanguard in the US. I believe it is based it in the US. I would assume high interest savings accounts are available in the US too. It would also be worth checking tax rates, laws and interest rates where you are!

    but an investor needs to reach critical mass in terms of net available income and even though many investors look like they have cash many are geared to a point that their cost of debt is greater than investment return.

    I have 30K sitting in premium bonds, would it be better to invest this in a stocks and shares ISA or Vanguard?

    • @KiranKaurFinance
      @KiranKaurFinance Год назад +3

      Money will generally be safer in premium bonds, as there is no risk to your capital. Investing in stocks and shares puts your capital at risk, but as a result the returns are likely to be higher. So it depends on your risk appetite, whether you want to put your capital at risk and whether you will need the money in the near future. I hope this helps!

    Everyone is saying we should invest not only to make a profit but also to 'beat inflation'. But why is inflation even happening? To my knowledge it's when the government prints their own money because they don't have anymore. I've heard people's anger about that, but to me it makes sense cause you can't just 'close' a country.
    So the country prints money because they don't have it. Why don't they have money? Well it could be an emergency and the situation just requires more than they have like a global pandemic or even war. And so, where do they get their money from? Well... people's tax.
    So, in other words, the common working man with an income which compared to that of a wealthy person is next to nothing, gets his money depreciated by the simple reason being that the ones that are doing so well that they could help their country without compromising too much of their life quality, don't pay what they're asked for.
    On one hand it's unfair that you're basically carrying the country but on the other hand who should, the one that's getting paid 12k a year? Should he get taxed 20, 30 or even 40%?
    I'm not saying you shouldn't ask for what you've won through your own hard work, but while there are constant reports of inflation, maybe just then pay your full amount of tax, because otherwise the % of inflation is like a tax that the government is forced to put EVERYONE through. Even the ones who are getting paid less than 12k and the ones that pay the most usual 20%.
    I'm not saying that you singlehandedly are causing this, BUT, it certainly would help reduce the amount of inflation if everyone and every company were paying the full amount of tax. It should be said that the government should also be using this money wisely but that is another subject.

      Printing money (quantitative easing) can be one of the reasons causing inflation but what we've been experiencing over the last few years is mostly because of push-inflation. Because of reasons such as wars (i.e. Russia & Ukraine), Covid and Brexit in the UK, goods, services as well as the workforce became very scarce. When there is high demand and not enough supply, then the prices go up and this is called (push-) inflation.

    What puts me off stocks and shares ISAs is being told my money is at risk and I might only get 8% after 5 years, minus fees and taxes.
    I can make 5% tax free per year in a cash isa.
    Why would I invest and lose out.
