Just brilliant. I have DungeonDraft, but I never thought of using it this way. Next you can try is Dungeon Alchemist 😉

I've always liked this, and wish Inkarnate had the same functionality. Donjon i really good for all things random.
In terms of maps, Dyson Logos has loads of maps on his website (does the black and white ones from the WotC adventures) and they're all available for free to use (could be a non-commerical thingy).

there's a mod for dungeondraft that allows to import maps from watabou and it will auto generate walls, doors, light, stairs, and a few other things, it's really impressive.

Sooo- Uhhhm, the grid should have been left on, because when you use it as a template it doesn't export the original map, just what you drew in Dungeon Draft. So the grid would make it easier to position and line it up, and when you export it- no grid! Also, could have sworn I used a tool at some point that added walls based on contrast, and you could drop a donjon map in and generate the walls based on where black and white met and it could detect the lines as doors- but I cant remember what it was- I think it was back in FVTT V9 era.
Oh you could also match the resolutions and then when you import it to use as a guide you wouldnt need to do any aligning, it would just... fit, perfectly. Measure twice cut once! XD

Yeah, you're right - saving with the grid just adds the grid for tracing, and not the end map. My mistake.
I mentioned an extra, optional step, and then never said what it was - which was scaling the map so the matching is more transfer... Doh!
