I absolutely love this tank, great gun handling, very good DPM, good gundep. I use it like a T-103, sort of a second-line tank, not a brawler for sure but not a bushwanker either like S1 or SU PM. Turret armor is good so its good for hulldown peeking and the reload is so fast it can outtrade almost everything in its tier. Im using it with rammer, vents and bounty turbo and had very nice results, like 4-5k dmg games, already have a lvl 2 Ace Tanker badge on it.

I dunno, I would rather play with a T8 SU PM, Skorpion G or GSOR with an autoloader. I can't imagine why I would ever choose taking the XM66F out of the garage if you have any or all of those.

Not to be a dick but it’s very easy to get ace badges on this right now. I got one with 2800 damage when the tanks first come out they have artificial mastery scores on them and it’s a lot easier to get aces.
Got it for 3 boxes so I don't feel bad. Just need to figure out how to play it. I have to say TDs these days aren't what they used to be. So I may just slap a turbo on it and go with the mediums instead. Heavies are no go, I got murdered immediately trying to play it from the front. And sniping, there's just better choices like the Strv. So maybe just gotta play it like a fat medium.
Ivan was tasked with coming up with a new tier VIII premium but he felt really lazy that day, so he just took an italian auto-reloader TD, cut off the auto-reloader and the armor, made it ever so slightly faster and management somehow thought it was a good idea
i don't really get why this was added to the lootboxes, considering it doesn't have anything interesting going for it, and you can get the same playstyle out of the T28 prototype with better armor, better gun and better turret rotation arc
We all know why they added this trash. It's to pad the number of tanks you can get so you have a less chance of getting the tank you want
This Ivan is still much smarter than the last one that made the dumbest tank in the game ever by a long shot last year, the BZ.
I love the turret depression, but penetration even with gold is very lacking. Against lights and mediums it can be a monster, but it requires a lot of work to be productive on heavies out in the open. I quite enjoy it in the urban maps, though.
it's one of the highest pen tanks on premium tier 8's. maybe you were thinking it was tier 9?

I'm running with improved aiming, optics and a rammer just to make it better at a distance. The pen is a bit low, but usable. Honestly I think this TD should have had the 180 degree turret traverse like the T110e4.
I can understand this tank just not working for you. I got some tanks like that as well.
But for some reason, this tank just works for me. I play it behind the heavy tanks, and in the front line when fighting against lower tier tanks, and take opportunistic shots when standing in the second line. I aced this tank like three times in a row yesterday, racking up around 4-4.5k dmg each game and a couple of frags.

@greener2497 when i got bz on day 1 last year i was getting around that and a few 6k dmg games, sure now not as high, but when a tank is new you can do alot better. He said he did that for 3 games which isnt unbelievable in any way

I'd have to agree with sniping from back. The hull is weak, turret seems to barely bounce anything (or at least, when it really needs to) ... but I enjoy it, and have a positive w/r over a few dozen games so far on NA. Initially I set mine up with mobility, but swapped out for some durability after finding out how fragile it felt. Feels better now.
Happy to have it, as I love the unique looking vehicles like this one, and I can always use another premium US tank destroyer.
It could do with a penetration buff to the standard ammo but yes it is no assault td
I think standard is ok but gold Penn should be better for sure
2. Line assault tank. It has armor but not enough to spearhead assaults, this gameplay is very similar to T28 prot.
For me the tank works very well. I play it more like a support heavy, so a bit more defensively and from midrange. You want some distance to make the armor work and to be able to disengage, then use the mobility to craft sneaky angles and use dpm to punish overextending or out of position enemies. But putting it in a bush to just snipe from would be wasting its potential, imo.
Crazy. I go very agressive with this mothertrucker and i bounce 90% of the Shots. For me its a Monster and i absolutly love it

You could try it with Improved aiming in slot1, mobility improvement T1, Vents + Steady hand directive. Gun isnt so trolling then, allowing you to be more aggressive.
I have had really good luck as a mid range hull down sniper, I don't go into the city usually just find a place to hide the hull. This tank sits low, so it's easy to hide the hull!

When this tank works it feels very good. One problem is that the gun is to close to the hull, so it is very hard to sit in ridge lines without getting hit in the hull.
Also, I think this tank has the highest drop rate as me and my son got this as the first tank drop and I felt sorry for him at first but he has had some good battles in it. But overall this Holliday drops felt the weakest in a long time...
Depends on what you like if drops were good or not. This year were fast tanks, not good armor. I find all of them fun to play. Sure this td was not the best one this year but still it's not total crap.
I got two ace wankers two games in a row with this tank, and an eventual 3rd a few games after that. I'm a bot player, but to me, this tank feels just right. Not brainless like the Vipera, but not incapable of pulling its own weight.
I really like the gun on it, and when hulldown, from a distance, the turret armor kinda works, as long as you're moving and dodging high pen HEAT.
The XM is not a miraculous tank, but it's a solid support sniperschnitzel with decent armor and a strong gun.

Guys, did you notice, that the christmas bonuses dont count for premium and rental vehicles? That's what it also sais on the description from WG.
So if you have maximum lever you can play standard tanks and they work like premiums.

Honestly, had the very same reaction as Skill had. I thought it's going to be a frontline brawler, but getting slapped around for few matches(To my surprise, as almost any shot penned me on the first line) I decided to play it from longer ranges and found the cannon slightly... Wonky to work with? It isn't the most accurate and it does aim for a long while. And to add, the 45 degree turret rotation each way seems really like it shouldn't be there. Rotation should be 90 degrees to each side. Overall it's definitely a TD that feels weird to play. It isn't as fast and agile as most sniper TDs, and is nowhere near sturdy enough to play frontline. I will play it more and try to experiment, but for now it feels like it's hard to find any place for the XM in a match.
this tank is actually a medium in disquise. play it like a medium and you'll see. medium range, flanker. think progetto, e50m, etc. vision, binoc and that experimental equip with turbo that also gives gun handling.
The only way i found how to use this tank , is to slap exp turbo, rotation , rammer and go with mediums or keep poking from behind your heavy tanks to not take 1 for the team . You cant fight heavys on your own with this hull, unless they are tourists
so basically any tank can fill the role of this td?

i liked the tank, but it seems to be pretty map dependant. on maps with somewhat decent hull down positions you can dominate. open maps are painful.
My Favorite WOT Tank, first 6 battles were all Wins and Top 1-3
I play it on ridge line, aced it in third game (Cliffs).

I max my XM66f gun performance and it will not troll you anymore once you get the accuracy to 0.3. Gun rammer, improved aiming, turbo equipment on mine. Modded for smaller reticle too. The gun just sings for me and is now one of my best credit earners along with the EBR and Even 90.
On console we have a rapid travel mode that goes up to 45
But Skill, it is not a t8 t110e4 ? 😅

I absolutely loved this tank to be honest but you need to find a good position to hide your hull and right part of the turret because it has 2 weak spots and then you can play it agressive and it shreds you opponents with 3.2k dpm ;)
One trick pony, in how many maps you have situation like this?
TS5 is better and Turtlle too.

I think the main problem of that tank is the turret arc. Unlike the other American tds with turret they got the flexibility while xm66 plays like italian tds.
Sounds just like me and the T-832. Strong turret, weak hull, show your upper plate for a moment and everyone will shred you.

this tank reminds me of the vipera, trollish gun handling, its a tank destroyer with good armor (on the turret at least), but the vipera can´t play like a td staying far away on the back, because of the poor accuracy, at least it can decently brawl
I see this as another t103, its strong but you have to be very active and pay close attention.
XMF is amazing IMO
What I absolutely dislike is the hitpoints. Coupled with the risky armour, you have the survivability of t44, not of defender (as it would look at first sight). I like its dpm and mobility but deffinitely not easy to play. Which is very good, prem tanks should be vulnerable.
it needed a litle more angle of the armor and we could have had a new 279(e)
I got this in my 7th box and played it 3 rounds and liked it. I play it like the italian Td on hull down positions.
It is a worse TS-5. If it would be the same then u can complain about OP armor.
1. XMF still has a great turret when u use gun depression
2. Has great Dpm
3. Okay mobility compared to TS-5.
It is hypocrite and silly to complain about a tank that is actually balanced, has weakspots on the turret etc. when in a healthy game u could imagine that maybe turtle and TS-5 would receive nerfs. I'm am sorry guys, but what are we even talking about.
Balance-wise, this years lootboxes are probably the very best we have had ever since holiday ops got introduced into the game. No progetto 64s, no EBR 75 fls, no obj 703s, no skoda 56s, not one single OP tank or anything that comes close to that level of competitiveness.
Be happy and hope that WG maybe gets that we do not want any more BZ 176s into the game
well said. we all know which tanks need toning down for the health of the game and a more level playing field. Hopefully Wg start looking at the game issues in 2024 instead of creating a cash grab premium or another in game advantage to grind .
Balanced Tech tree Vehicle should form the baseline for all new vehicles in the game. Imagine having to nerf 50-100 premiums/reward tanks.
Edit: 50-100 , just a guess how much power creeped tanks we have, spread across all tiers

I just got this in 4 boxes for £0-87p total. Together with 14 days prem 500k silver the Redshire cat and a bauble :). Not bad for less than a quid even if it is poor!
I think you're wrong about this one Skill. This tank plays almost exactly like the Chi-to SP, which you rank epic. It's one tier higher than the Chi-to sp, so the stats are a bit different. With my set ups, the alpha and DPM are higher with the xm vs. the chi-to sp, the lower hull on both are weak, the upper armor of the chi-to sp is a bit higher, but the xm has a turret, and that turret is domed, so it still blocks/bounces more than my chi-to sp does. Also, if you can prop the front of the XM up on some rocks, with the -10 gun depression, you can effectively hide your hatches. I approached the XM66 just like the chi-to sp. I think I run the same equipment, and I play it the same. If I am top tier, and I can find a hull down position, I know i can be int he front. If i'm not top tier, or there is no hull down option, I stick to the back until later in the game. The gun handling of the XM is excellent. Again, very similar to the Chi-to SP. I've only played 8 battles so far, but even with losing 5 of those 8, I'm still sitting on a 2.18 damage ratio, 2.6 destruction, and a .54 use of armor. Not bad considering 5 of those 8 were also 8-10 battles and I was a bottom tier crapper. If I can show up and do 218% dmg, and kill nearly 3 tanks a game on average, and block over 50% of my hp in dmg... and do that as a bottom tier tank most of the time over 8 battles, I think the tank is pretty solid. I don't know, maybe people just haven't figured out how to fight it yet. Maybe in a few months, I'll change my mind. But for now, I love this tank. If you just got it, I recommend watching skills videos on the Chi-to SP. Use the same equipment, and play it in a similar fashion. Only... account for the fact that you have a limited turret, and better gun depression.
i would rate it for me 7/10 and the DMP is realy good
Its Alpha is mediocre, DPM for a TD is less important imho. Its rare for someone to just sit in front of your gun allowing the DPM to be useful, except maybe when your mopping up at the end of the game and don't mind taking a few hits.
In PC it's a tier 8 TD and in Blitz it's a tier X TD
I played 7 games with it last night and lost every game. That was not the tank's fault. 5 of the games I placed in the top two on my team in damage and experience, easily got fire for effect three or more times over. Those games I played from mid-range or back. I played two from the front, mainly because me and a couple team mates went to one flank and the rest of my team went to the other and guess which flank the enemy sent 8 tanks to overrun us and still beat my team on the other flank. In those two cases I still finished in the top half of my sad team. Now I am not even a good player, but when I am pumping out 3500-4000 damage I am OK with that. The gun did troll me a few times but what else is new, especially when WOT wants you to lose you can figure some of you fully aimed 50 yard shots are going to ghost right thru the enemy.
Wow the very first shot in the video just went outside the aiming circle. I have it to sometimes, most common with poorly aimed shots but even if the aim is bad it should still not leave the circle. just wee gee spaghetti coding I suppose

I got all of them except for the Tiger Maus and to be honest, I cannot make this tank work for the life of me. Definitely going to trade it in when a trade in event comes around. I have more fun playing in my turtle or TS-5 than this thing.

Ofc no suprise, cuz TS 5 and turtle can be considered OP compared to balanced tech tree tanks or a tank like XMF. The community only wants really good vehicles and they hate it if WG tries something weird/ unique that's not OP at least. However when something is crazy OP we idiots complain and cry to WG about balance.. lmao.

@@sir_vikingbeard5842not really. None of the tanks in the Box is op but a few of the are good to have. I got the type, its far from på but very fun to play. This tank is just boring. People complain about boring tanks if they are balanced.
@@imonshrooms6866that's ur opinion. XMF is not boring considering u have really good dpm for a tier8. With its armor profile, which is still good if used probably (skill issue for many), u can play it like a support heavy. However this playstyle is really hard to master which is why mostly it's only super unicums who can pull it off. If u snipe with XMF like some CC's would recommend, that's simply the wrong playstyle if u want to get the best games. Instead those CC's should admit they have yet to learn how to play the tank perfectly, instead of recommending everyone to camp like a bot. No wonder people would find that boring.
Edit: no offense to any CC, but generally speaking. If u have good dpm, the best way to use it is to get close to the HP/ the enemies. 121 also doesn't have great armor however heavy line based gameplay is still the way to go.

can someone let me know if WG change anything within last 2 years in World of Tanks. I came back and it looks like shooting mechanincs is changed. I had multiple fully aimed shots sail god knows where . To day i managed to bounce of wtf auf IV , and of the ligh tanks ( fully aimed at stationary target). The game is no longer enjoable, You aim and shit goes wierd places. I understand when i play low level with crap crew( fully aimed shots miss side of tiger that was filling whole aiming circle...
So, Skills don't much like this TD! what a surprise! its a passive sniper or support TD ... not a push TD, and its Gun Pen is more like a Medium, and slow,
WG don't like sniper TDs much either (needs cover which WG removes each patch) only heavy Armour vehicles and 'Suprise' HT for brawling that's the new 2020-23 meta from WG.
So no overpowered tanks this time ? Wow :O
I have this tank and T-103. It is kind like T-103 with worst armour, worst gun (imo 440 every 8,6s alpha is better than 400 every 7,6s) not full rotation turret but with better mobility than T-103. I like this tank, XM66F is not so bad. Hull is tragic, thats true.
WG makes it easy for me to decide not to buy boxes this year. 😅

felt like a decent tank to me playing against it. Quite a bit of gun depression, good turret armor (with cupolos though) and quite fast.

Probably his mindset of this tank is that of a tier 9-10 but it's just an overall good tank at tier 8 that needs to abuse the gun depression.
Why should it be worse than Borsig?
Well skills pissed cause it didnt hit, if he would switch turbo with accuracy it may be better, if your sniping in the back might aswell dont use turbo.

I was disappointed when i received this tank... but game by game I actually think its not a bad tank. Dpm is crazy, and gun hits, it's not this slow to be honest. It can bounce on turret. As minus i would say it doesn't have 360 degree turret. My guess is skill will love it whenever he's going to mark it!
This tank was the first one that I got and I'm not disapointed as weird as it sounds lol. So far my average dmg is 2.9k and I played 34 games so far. When enemy team doesn't have something with low pen or just no hull-down tanks I push. I don't know it's kinda mix for sniping and pushing. Probably map and enemy team is the factor on how to play the current battle. But I like the tank. It's not broken but it's not bad if you know what you are doing.
This tank was made for quickly grinding credits. You can get in and do 2-3 k in damage and get out with your credits. DPM is legit. Armor is not.

Gun could be soo trolish and this weak spot on the right side of the turret is soo big - you can almost face tier 6 light and be pen in the turret directly 😂

Sadly this is the tank I got from 45th box.... It was the least wanted for me and I'm not a fan of GSOR too... I would be happy to get any other one but luck sometimes is not our side(((

But but Skiiieeel, agree tank Is average In every Way -average gun, average armour, average mobility. Penetration Are weak compairing with other TDs. But tank has its own magic. IMO its first really Versatile TD. Love it, and sure you will love IT when you get 3rd moe on it.
This is fast, single-shooter Italian TD with weakspots. I like it very much.
