    Many years ago I knew a man that traded in all kinds of things such as this. He sold me one of these for fifty or twenty five dollars. This was back in 76 or 77. Never could quite place where it came from until now. One of the reasons he sold it to me cheap was because some dummy chromed the blade and brass plated the hilt. He wasn't going to waste any time on it at that me. Sold me a few other things. One of my children played with it and lost it in the woods. For some reason that pissed me off. LOL After Hurricane Elena I had some bulldozing done and found it. Most of the chrome is gone and so is that brass plating. When I first got it I examined the blade and realized it had been sharpened a lot of times as something like a touch over one fourth of an inch has been sharpened away and the shape now tapers quite a bit more as you get towards the end. That sword has a lot of stories I'll never be told for sure. When you held it up, I stopped the video and counted the ribs on the grip. 28 just like mine. Thnx. Nice video.

    Was in Imperial Germany a typical police wespon, also first german security guards used it.

      @@kultofathena6217 Yes you are correct it technically is a hanger not a cutlass as it was used by infantry not sailors 😂😜

    I thought i remember reading somewhere that this particular maker leaves the blades on the soft side. A saw a skallagrim vid with a similar sabre that showed it wasnt quite as hard as it should be and the hilt can loosen with use. Has this been addressed and fixed?

      how is the distal taper? Comparable to a historic one or just cut from a steel sheet like most replicas?

    • @danjohnston9037
      @danjohnston9037 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@TrueFork I'm just an amateur, but there appears to be no appreciable taper.

    • @TrueFork
      @TrueFork 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@danjohnston9037 that's what I fear, I have an original (though in poor shape) and the spine is 8mm at the hilt, 4mm in the middle and 2.5mm just before where the false edge begins. The taper makes a completely different balance
