At the time of this comment, Mr Stich had 1,100 likes and 11 "not likes". that is 99% liked. That is 1% dislike. unbelievable. Not only that, I think this video series was early in Mr Stich's online teaching. I bought one of his lessons and Udemy that he did much later. He gets better as he progresses in teaching you tubers. For someone just starting out trying to learn to solo by learning scales, boxes, the fingerboard, CAGED, pentatonic scale boxes. et al... Mr Stich teaches little piece at a time and eventually you realized that it all comes together in the end. You have to get each piece, which by themselves don't seem so great, but when they come together you then you get the prize. Main point, this guy is not a false profit..follow him through this series and then get his lessons from Udemy. Just looking at one piece of the puzzle and the trying to put it together with pieces you got from someone else is not so useful. get the pieces, Stich it together and end up with a beautiful quilt that you can keep adding to. This is good stuff. Thanks Stichman!

I've been searching for months for someone I could easily understand and relate to. This guy has it in spades. I've watched countless videos from many instructors and you're right, Mr. Stitch is the real deal. I'll definitely be progressing through his teaching. I'm convinced this is the way to do it.

I need to buy this course immediately. Stitch’s videos have validated a lot of things I thought about playing guitar that others had told me were “stupid” ideas. And I love his presentation and tone 😍😍😍

Him, the German guy and a collection of the rest. Thanks Stitcher for all you do. I'm 69 and gradually going beyond my Mel Bay upbringing (I actually played at a guitar event/contest in Houston at about age 13 and looked up to see Mr. Bay as my judge!) I'm also an ex-teacher and I also appreciate all your teaching chops.

I learned a while back (from a non-Stich vid on scale notes that notes have "gravity" depending on their location relative to each other. The 7th note, for instance, has a natural pull towards the root (8th note in the scale) This is a nice conceptualization for understanding what Ian was referring to here.

WOW! - I just played around with this and took off! - I can hear so much SRV and others just experimenting with 5 to 1 thinking.
The light bulbs turned on when I realised that the 5 chord back to the 1 chord in songs is the strongest resolution sound in harmony (plagial cadence ?) - and it's exactly the same with the single 5 to 1 notes!. I don't think I'd have figured this out in years. Errr... Well I hadn't ! lol
Respect Ian - A massive leap forward for me buddy.
You really are the genuine article - Jules

I've been hopping about between a number of channels in RUclips. Being at an extremely beginners (baby) level, I stumbled into your channel. I commented that I'll need to come back in 30 years time to get to an average level of playing guitar. However, you responded saying "try the CAGED PRIMER PLAYLIST", which just after the first two videos, I have learnt so much (the what, how and why...). So simply explained that even a non-music player like me is understanding it so clearly! I can't thank you enough. I will now continue with all the remaining playlist now :-) Thank you very much.

You sir, are a genius. I've played for 20 years and spent a small fortune trying to unlock the secrets of the fretboard. I never quit bc I love music but i had resigned to the fact that the gods of blues and rock just wanted me to strum chords my entire life. I have learned more in two youtube videos from you than i have from all the people I've known in my life combined... I played with a backing track today and almost cried because it came close to sounding like actual music (I may have overstated my emotional response...but also maybe not). i now own your master class. I feel like I should send you a gift basket or something.

Finally, someone explains it. :) Will you explain how the 3rds are used too? Like more fundamentals on how the 7 notes are used to build tension and make melody, and have that moment in a solo where the notes feel so good and right, and why they work? Seems like its a blend of knowing where the notes of the chords of the song are so when it the chord hits a C, you can hit a C or its 3rd, and also knowing when to use the numeric notes over certain parts of the progression, so that when you arrive at the C it has an incredible amount of resolve, but it still feels abstract to me. The way you explained the roll of the 5 took the abstraction of it out for me.
