Abstraction in Comics

Comics and sequential narrative can take many forms, and some artists like to push those forms to the furthest edges of what the audience might expect - whether that be non-sequitur stories, surrealist imagery or visual poetry.
Gareth A Hopkins, Peony Gent, Olivia Sullivan and Miranda Smart all take very different approaches to making comics, but all of them abstract the medium in fascinating ways. In this talk they discuss their work, how they approach making comics and why they choose abstraction as a storytelling device, followed by a Q&A with the audience.
