Thank you. I came across your channel when I met the instruction to place stitch marker (then slip stitch marker) in a pattern and had no idea what it meant. You made it clear and simple. Once you know, it's obvious, but when you don't, it seems the patterns are there to confuse us!
I feel sort of foolish. I’ve been knitting for almost 30 years and NEVER had to do this before. My teacher passed away decades ago. I know it seems sort of obvious, but thank you for making this video so even middle-aged dogs can learn new tricks. 😉
Thank you so much! I found a pattern for a shawl that I would like to try, but I didn't understand the terms yarn over, place marker, and slip marker. Now I am good to go =)
Why didn't you just place it on the right needle to begin with? Seems like a waste of time to put it on the left side and the slide it over a moment later. Or am I missing something?
I don't understand what the marker is actually marking if it keeps traveling up each row. The "mark" keeps moving so why mark at all? It has been many years since I have knitted and I am trying my hand at brioche knitting that will probably finish me.
I understand that these stitch markers are great for making increases, like YOs to make eyelets. I was trying to make a shawls with eyelets on it, and I tried my best to keep the stitch marker in place, but for some reason, my eyelets appeared to be out of place. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?
When you are using many different sizes of needles, the accessories are made to be "universal". So the larger marker can accommodate larger needles as well as smaller ones. My set of "solid" circle markers came with several sizes of markers, I try to use the one that is the most similar to my needle/stitch size.
Little videos like this make my life SOOO easy as I am learning to knit simple projects like mittens. THANK YOU!!!
Thanks, I wondered how to use the round one, thinking it would get stuck in the knitting. You've cleared that up for me, great.
I agree!

Thank you so much. I can crack on knitting with my pattern now.
Super helpful. Many thanks!
I like those sharp needles you are using. What brand are those? My Joann's only sell bamboo wood circular needles that are quite blunt

If I couldn't buy a stitch marker, would a safety pin or small rubber band work just fine?
yup!
If the instructions say as follows: cast on 100 sts. 1st to 200th rows incl: Sl 1, k across; does that mean to Sl on each row?
Yes
What's the point of a stitch marker?
how/when do you move stitch markers when there is a yo, especially when a purl st. is after a knit st.?
I am wondering how to do the following please k1 pm k18 pm k2 sm k18 sm ki (this is the start up row for decrease in socks) thanks
What is the difference between a SM and a SLM ? Anybody?
Thanks for that. I wondered why the rings are so huge and it appears there's no reason. It's a bit awkward to knit with them.
There are smaller ones that are less awkward, and you kind of get used to them after using them for a while.

thank you, it had me wondering too.
