I’ve been watching Jan for many, many years and have enjoyed every single episode. My advice is to look up anything you don’t know. RUclips is an entertainment platform and an educational platform which is fantastic for everyone. Worldwide creators educating the masses learning from wonderful creators.
Good day Jan,wishing you a safe and a positive Monday and week.Sure, enjoy your videos. You or your videos are never boring. First thing I see is your smile😊. Tom in Minneapolis
Glad you have gone back to using the “opener”. Always enjoy your content. I too grew up on a dairy farm. Things have sure changed! Your neighbor from down south, USA.
Wondering what you use for parasites as ivermectin isn't allowed to be used in any dairy cattle. We use it on our beef cattle as long as they aren't going to slaughter within the specified time period.
Hahaha! A dairy farmer having time off? Never gonna happen, my friend! They are cut from a different cloth and they have more stamina and strength than most humans will ever muster up … and they love every second of it!
Their oldest cow ( 20-24 years) is in retirement in a barn. The udders/boobs, they do stretch with use. Cows do have big udders when they’re being milked, or calves are on them. What part of this is cruel? This is nature.
I am a city man who enjoys views of your dairy farm. However, I decided to enter a comment of frustration. You often use inside shop talk that is oblivious to me. One minute into your latest video and you speak of "drying off" a cow. I had to go look that up before proceeding. Do you not know when your jargon reaches only a limited sphere of people? Should I not subscribe to your channel?
With all the various You Tubers & the different types of content creators it becomes really tricky to not over do & duplicate the explanations of specific topics they cover. Jan or his sister Neline have shown on previous videos the steps of drying off cows by doing the two part injections of products into the cows utters. I don't believe there are any You Tuber's that have the time to produce extra long videos to fully explain each & every subject that may previously been shown in another video with more detail. We each have the ability to subscribe to or not to various videos depending on an individual's interest level . A person can use the "Search Button" within the You Tube app to search for specific topics and by typing in the words "Drying off cows" various videos will appear with one of them being a video by Neline on her channel "A Dairy on the Prairie" produced about 2 years ago that show Jan & Neline doing this procedure in more detail. In my opinion a bonus to the videos that both Neline & Jan produce is that their videos are produced without the ongoing mention of sponsors that seems to be overdone on some channels.

👍🇨🇦
Great video. Thanks.
👍🏻🇨🇦🤟🏻
Healthy animals are cheapest to keep (and most expensive to buy) so yes prevention like ivermectin pays itself back.
Prevention also works in humans. Good diet and exercise and some medical treatments
That's a lot holy smokes
As a sheep farmer in a country where they can be outside all year, enjoy learning about dairy farming.
First 11 seconds
Damn you!!! 😂
How old is your oldest cow?
If I’m not mistaken, it’s in the 15-17 yr old range. Hope that helps 😅

#24 needs a big red bow on her tail!
Deadly dairy.
Jan, I'm sure you already saw it , but big white cow (3:11/14:05) in the video looked lame on the right back foot/leg.
Have any pictures of the old barn setup
He has a video: ruclips.net/video/EemKj0GoSXc/видео.html

Hahaha! A dairy farmer having time off? Never gonna happen, my friend! They are cut from a different cloth and they have more stamina and strength than most humans will ever muster up … and they love every second of it!
What do you use for pest control mice rats?
Cats. They also had a guy come out and put some commercial grade poison around their feed mill.
Curious if any cows get hit by machines. It seems like you have to drive around them all the time.
The cows soon learn to get out of the way of the big machines. And the people are pretty careful around them, too -- going slow and cautious.
Just wondering if you have any time for a social life?/girlfriend??
Ivermectin for everyone has had good results in human populations too.
The "oldest cow in the barn" has a huge udder which looks painful. How is this not cruelty?

When calves are 1 week or less they get 2 liters of milk twice a day.
Little princess throws the cruelty word without educating yourself...... Cruelty is stupidity
It is cruelty all of dairy
@ Troll go home
How disgusting it is to watch you exploit these animals as slaves to be milked for human consumption. You should be ashamed of yourself

He has explained the process of drying off cows a few times 😊
If you had followed his channel you would know by now what he is talking about; just saying…..
Part of the fun is looking up the things I (as a city person) do not understand.
Hey, look at you. You googled "drying off a cow" You'll get the hang of it, city boy. Your words, not mine
