Tamil version is merged with the nature and colors very well.. . it is more soulful and earthy.. Hindi version is more romantic and hot.. Tamil was sung by Hariharan and hindi is Sonu Nigam both are really good.
Tamil version focusses on different colours in love. The dresses, background and lyrics all state each colour at a time.
As an indian from North,the South was more soulful ❤❤❤and now I'm learning Tamil poetry language 😀 ❤

It's a crime that you couldn't understand the tamil lyrics! The colors are "colors of love" All in reference to the lady's ( Shalini, actress) attributes. Green being her approval of their love, red being in reference to her temper, blue being the color of her eyes (don't worry she does have brown eyes, just made up for the lyrics) and black being the color of her hair and white being the color of her conscience. All of this he was singing about, hence the outfits etc

This song is less about chemistry and more about praise of the feminine beauty from a male's point of view. He compares different aspects of her outer as well as inner beauty with different colours of nature. And so, Tamil version does the justice. Bollywood just have to add the sexy aspect in everything. In my point of view it ruins the originality and pure aura of the art as physical love is not everything. Anyways Maddy's charm and talent anyday over anyone else ❤️❤️❤️. Shalini's natural beauty justifies nature's beauty depicted in this song. Words are much much more elaborate as far as exploring the beauty of each colour is concerned. This beauty is of a higher level.

Tamil Vowels and Consonants are called as Soul and Body. The grammar is based on how a Soul and Body involve in creating sound. For example a soul cannot directly contact another Soul, it has to contact through Body only. Similarly Body cannot create sound by its own. Body is just a medium/material. The Tamil vowels are common for any language in the world. Example B,C,D,G,P,T,V has E sound in it and F,H,J,K,L,M,N,S,X,Z has A sound in it and Q has U sound in it and Y has I sound in it. W - double U (UU) it has U sound. R has “ah” sound but this is not in english as a separate vowel. In fact “ah” is the base for all proper sounds created from mouth. Do not consider shh, iff sound which, these are not in Tamil.You can create lot more sounds like these from your mouth, but those cannot be taken as proper sounds since you cannot have a proper consonent(body) position. Yes, Consonants are just positions of the mouth/tongue/lips. If you tell “ah” continuously meanwhile close your mouth and open you will get “Amma”. If you tell “ah” continuously and stop while you close your mouth and start again while you open you will get “Appa”. “iP” and “iM” are same positions only difference is “iM” is nasal. Similarly Vallinam and Mellinam in Tamil follows.
The Tamil grammar/language is based on how Soul and Body interacts. Tamil: Uyir ezhuthukkal (soul letters) are natural sounds that Humans make. Examples...
ஆ Ha - when one gets pain
ஈ Ee - when one laughs
ஊ Uu - when one drops unexpectedly (whoops)
ஏ Hey - In anger or when one alerts (Hey! watch out)
ஐ ii - when one exclaims
ஓ Oo - when one understands (Oh oh! now I understand)
ஒள Ouu - when one fears of sudden pain (Ouch!)
These expressions are common to any Human irrespective of language or region. Because these are natural sounds from inside us out of natural expressions. That is why these sounds are called as Uyir (soul) in Tamil.

I'm going to try my best to put this into words, but the Tamil version was done with far more care. The cinematography is very Mani Ratnam, and the song's just a masterpeice. The relationship is less overt than the Hindi version, and was very spiritual in the film.
Overall the tamil version is more original, and the remake is just a copy and paste. They had no reason to keep the colours with the Hindi one, it has nothing to do with the lyrics, wheras in the Tamil one, hes equating her to the colours of the earth.

It has more clear pronunciation and words aa compared to tamil because tamil is one of the oldest languages in world and Hindi is just made out of so many languages (Majority sanskrit)
And Hindi is also ranked one of clearest Language in the world . But at last it is just personal preferences, who grew up listening what and also Music doesn't have any language

Both versions are powerfully blend in their own way
The problem with remake is without music the song is gibberish..its only in sonu's voice tht it sounds gud, and if u skip the yei ye from sonu, the song is just s*it..but when average Joe tries to sing it except for sathiya nothing sounds gud..It's like random words tried to fit in the music.. And the song is abt colors in tamil, relating each colour to his loved one. .. So nice observation..

Those of us from north can truly appreciate the lyrics. The poetry is so very well written it's just amazing.
To me tamil sounds very harsh to me but at least I'm willing to understand that it could be because I'm not familiar with it.
To me, tamil version talking about colors sounded like a children's song (again this might sound better to a tamil speaker, coz translation is not always good)
But I don't get how talking about colors to his lover is nice or better
whereas in hindi the poetry language used to compliment his lover is so elegant.

I think both versions are equally good and have their own color. I like both versions. they have amazing chemistry both Rani Vivek and Madhavan-Shalini couple. both films are the same hits. If the remake is not good, it certainly won't be successful. so please respect both versions without badmouthing one of them.

Pachai literally is the name for green in Tamil. Niram is the word for colour. The title is in Tamil, that's the original.
Manjal is the word for yellow & like orange, is the Tamil word for turmeric.

Both are good but I like hindi version more. The chemistry is off the chart. This is one that remake of south indian movie I like.
I went through the comments and there are so much toxicity. Guys people have opinions, she can like whichever version she wants. It's different perspective, all of saying about this n that about Tamil, I live in bangalore, I'm from Delhi. To my ears tamil sounds very harsh (not that it is harsh) I've told to my tamil friends and we've joked about it that you speak it's as if you're scolding someone. And he was cool about and made jokes about hindi.
