These siphons were designed by a brilliant Engineer called 'Ganesh Iyer. They are called Ganesh Iyer's siphon. I learnt about this during our education trip when we were engineering students. I visted this in 1966

There were several villages that were submerged in the backwaters, but all those villages along with their temples were relocated in and around the Yediyur. My "Mane Devaru" was one among them, it has been a while I visited the place!
