Hey Antonio! I recently tried a -2 contacts and it seems so much clearer than my -1.5 prescription. But I just got my eye checked at the optometrist and -1.5 was what they recommended. Is a difference in 0.5 going to make a large difference in my vision?
Does that explain why my contact prescription feels weaker than the glasses ? I just got contacts today. And, I noticed that I can’t see as far when I got contacts on, but see more clearly with glasses.
Hi Antonia, thanks for the great video. Lately, I had a big doubt hence stumbled upon your video. Yes u always start with the same axis. Your lenses can turn to a different axis when the lenses comes in to the eyes. So if u feel like u can't see good with your lenses, contact an optometrist then we can see if the lenses are sitting on the 175 axis or not.
This explains why I cant see through the contacts Ive been given, I am long sighted and have been given a weaker prescription. so its 1.5 and 1.25 for glasses, but given 1.25 and 1 for contacts. should I get same strength as glasses or go higher?

I started using contact lenses yesterday, in my eyeglasses I got -3.25 in both of my eyes but on the optometrist they gave me -3.50 in my contact lenses and my vision is a little bit blurry with them, that should I do?
So contact lenses have a weaker power because it's closer to the eye but I noticed that my doctor increased the strength of my contact lenses compared to my glasses. Why is this so?
Hello Antonio I just bumped into your video. I’m planning to get contacts. My right eye is -1.75 and my left is -1.50 Should I get contacts the same prescription as my glasses?

I don't understand my eye prescription says I'm -3 left and right, but according to my glasses -4.75 on right and -4.50 on the left. which one should I use? eye prescription or glasses?
The Right eye should be fine with a -2.25 but looks like the left eye could benefit from using a Toric lens, best to see your optometrist for a fit for that one

Hello dear I have astigmatism but i couldn't cope with cylindrical glasses so i use spherical one with power of 2.25 and 2.5 . What power of contact lens should I wear?
Hi, I have keratoconus and just got fitted for scleral lenses and everything seems bigger like I'm seeing through a magnifying glass, are you saying that this is what things really look like? I can see scars, pimples and pores on peoples faces as I'm walking by them and much worse I can see myself in the mirror. I do not like what I see.
My glasses are 3.25 in one eye and 3.00 in the other eye and I simply get the 3.25 in both or 3.50...I do find when I get the 3.50 in both I have to use readers to see some fine print and when I use the 3.25 in both eyes on contacts I can read fine small print.
I would recommend getting a fresh eye test as that will take into account any minor astigmatism you may have, which is not shown in the contact lens prescription!
most eye doctors do not have you wearing 2 different strengths in contacts when they are that close...they will prescribe a -4.00 in both eyes as the brain compensates the difference.
Im confused as my prescription has both SPH AND CYL does this mean I can't use contacts? (Sick of my baby pulling my glasses off my face lol) Right: SPH -1.00 CYL -0.75 Left: SPH -0.50 CYL -1.50 Not sure what I'd order Would very much appreciate a reply please and thank you x
You can use contacts but you’ll most likely need to use Toric ones (made a video on this as well), and because your prescription is less than -4.00 you won’t need to convert the vertex distance calculation like I did here! 😀
Useful video, thanks: but from 1:25, I found the way you place images of glasses & lenses over the columns of the conversion chart very confusing! (image of glasses at left / lenses at right, when chart seems to be the other way; and column headings don’t help! Vertex? Sphere?)
I know this is a late reply to your comment, but maybe it will still help. Lol. This chart is based on a "vertex distance" (the distance from the eyeball to the eyeglasses lens) of 11.5 mm. The middle column is the "sphere" prescription of the eyeglasses. It is written in a positive form or absolute power as prescriptions can be in negative or positive. If your eyeglasses prescription is negative, you look to the left beside the "sphere" column for your contact lens power; if your eyeglasses prescription is positive, then you look to the right beside the "sphere" column. Example: my eyeglasses prescription for my left eye is -7.75, so I look at the "sphere" for 7.75 and since it is negative, I look to the left of the "sphere" to get my contact lens prescription, so it would be -7.12. The contact lens prescription would be rounded to the nearest 0.25 increment, so I would use -7.00. Hope this helped!
I am now using monthly (cooper) contact lens. When I wanted to change to daily disposables, my doctor prescribed a reduced power. Why would this be so ?
So under 4 diopters it shouldn't matter? Because I just ordered some contacts just to try them because I hate my wearing glasses, I only have a glasses prescription ,which is -1.5 and -2.0
Hi, so my glasses prescription for my right eye SPH is +0.75 and CYL is +0.75, axis is 95. The store i ordered my contact lens from sent me a higher power though. SPH is +1.75, CYL is -0.75 and axis is 180. Do i need to exchange it or have they sent me the right power?
Hi can you help. Im wearing a glasses and i know my grade vision is 75 both left & right, but I don't know what grade of contact lenses to order. What do you think suitable graded lense for me?
Sorry Jiwoo but I’m not exactly sure what you mean by 75, the measuring standards are different across countries so I’ll need to know what you mean by it
Hi i was having this problem for a year now since i started wearing glasses in 2:35 mim you can see that there is a blue and orange colors around alot of things i have been seeing this things every time i wear my glasses so do you know are these thing and why am i seeing them also is there a treatment to them and if i wear contact lenses in the future will i still see them and what is the name of them
Hey Carlos! It appears you are experiencing some chromatic aberration. This is when the wavelengths (or colours) refract at different strengths (blue bends more strongly than orange) and therefore you will see small bands of yellow and blue. This happens more when you: 1. Use a higher refractive index for your glasses lenses (but sometimes you just have to use a high index if your prescription is too high) 2. Your pupil size is too wide (I often experience this when I dilate my pupils using a mydriatic). Unfortunately in terms of pupil size there’s not much you can do but for the glasses I believe contact lenses should help minimise chromatic aberration. Give it a go!
Hi I have a question my eyeglasses prescription is SPH Cyl. Axis PD OD -1.25 -0.50 010 63 OS. -1.00 -0.75 162 I use them for distance what would you recommend for contacts.
For the right eye a -1.50 seems appropriate, but due to the left eye having some astigmatism I would consult your optometrist to see if -1.50 would also be appropriate or you may have to use a toric contact lens design!
Just got exam for both glasses and contacts. For the contacts, one eye was too strong so they adjusted it. In the mean time they already made my glasses. Is it possible this same discrepancy (one eye too strong) was made in the glasses prescription?
I hope you reply to this: The other day my eye doctor said that getting my prescription for contacts changes with different brands. My prescription contacts strength is 3.00 on the right side and 3.75 on my left eye. Is it ok to use the same prescription strength on a different brand of contacts?
My glasses prescription is left -1.75 right -1.50 what do u think I need to get for my contact lenses I just ordered some and I’m scared I got the wrong prescription

so if I want to buy contacts online, I'll have to convert my glasses prescription(-5.00 and -4.50) to -4.75 and -4.25 and when the website asks for my power, I put the contact prescription?

With a relatively high prescription like this I think it might be best to consult your optometrist, I can give you a number but if the vertex distance is wrong then I’m afraid it’s going to be inaccurate

Really depends on both the glasses and contact lens prescriptions!
Usually the Rx for contacts is lower on the sphere than the eyeglass RX b/c of how much closer it is when on the cornea. Maybe the BC and a .25 bump in the corresponding eye may be better. The only way is to be able to try different combinations. I wouldn’t trust any Rx from a lab when you don’t feel it’s natural after giving it some time. Hope this helped!
I am now using monthly (cooper) contact lens. When I wanted to change to daily disposables, my doctor prescribed a reduced power.
Why would this be so ?
Hm not a hundred percent sure maybe the dailies didn’t come in your prescription?
So under 4 diopters it shouldn't matter? Because I just ordered some contacts just to try them because I hate my wearing glasses, I only have a glasses prescription ,which is -1.5 and -2.0
I’ve -5.25 for both eyes what would would be my contact lens power?
-5.00 sounds about right but with high scripts it’s probably best to get it seen by an optometrist
How do I find my contact lenses prescription?! Do I need to see eye doctor
Should be on the box but if not you can ask your optometrist too
Hi, so my glasses prescription for my right eye SPH is +0.75 and CYL is +0.75, axis is 95. The store i ordered my contact lens from sent me a higher power though. SPH is +1.75, CYL is -0.75 and axis is 180. Do i need to exchange it or have they sent me the right power?
with a plus cylindrical power the mathematics becomes a little complicated but simply put it is the right prescription
@@AntonioTheOptom thank you so much 😊🙏
hey, my contact lens prescription is tied to a brand of daily lenses. would I have to get a different prescription in order to change to monthly?
Hey antonio, could you please tell me if glass number is +3 and +2.25 then what would be the contact lens number
Hello Antonio. My prescription for eyeglasses is SPH -1.75 on both eyes what would be my contact prescription? Thank you.
My graded eyeglasses is 250 what would be the equivalent of it in contact lense. Thank you!
Should be the same! 😄
Hi can you help. Im wearing a glasses and i know my grade vision is 75 both left & right, but I don't know what grade of contact lenses to order. What do you think suitable graded lense for me?
Sorry Jiwoo but I’m not exactly sure what you mean by 75, the measuring standards are different across countries so I’ll need to know what you mean by it
Hi
i was having this problem for a year now since i started wearing glasses in 2:35 mim you can see that there is a blue and orange colors around alot of things i have been seeing this things every time i wear my glasses so do you know are these thing and why am i seeing them also is there a treatment to them and if i wear contact lenses in the future will i still see them and what is the name of them
What contact Len will a person with glass -6.00 wear
I would personally go for -5.75!
Antonio Hong Thanks 🙏🏼
No worries fam! 👍
Hi thx for all the informations. I'm -0.50 and I got lenses with -1.00, will this cause me eyes problems?
Yeah best not to use an inaccurate prescription 😁
My glasses prescription is -5.00 in right eye and -4.00 in left eye. What would be my contact prescription?
I would say it comes close to -4.75 and -4.00 but best to get it checked by your optometrist first!
Hi I have a question my eyeglasses prescription is SPH Cyl. Axis PD
OD -1.25 -0.50 010 63
OS. -1.00 -0.75 162
I use them for distance what would you recommend for contacts.
For the right eye a -1.50 seems appropriate, but due to the left eye having some astigmatism I would consult your optometrist to see if -1.50 would also be appropriate or you may have to use a toric contact lens design!
@@AntonioTheOptom thank you so much I will go see a optometrist.
If my contacts are -2.25 should my glasses be the same? The eye doctor gave me glasses -2.0 and its not as clear as my contacts?
Go speak to your optometrist about it I reckon 👍
Just got exam for both glasses and contacts. For the contacts, one eye was too strong so they adjusted it. In the mean time they already made my glasses. Is it possible this same discrepancy (one eye too strong) was made in the glasses prescription?
If my glasses power is -2.25 and -2.75 will the power for contact lense will be same??
What power will be of -8 and 7.75
I hope you reply to this:
The other day my eye doctor said that getting my prescription for contacts changes with different brands. My prescription contacts strength is 3.00 on the right side and 3.75 on my left eye. Is it ok to use the same prescription strength on a different brand of contacts?
Hii my RE = -0.50
& LE = -4.50
What will be my contact lens prescription?
My glasses prescription is left -1.75 right -1.50 what do u think I need to get for my contact lenses I just ordered some and I’m scared I got the wrong prescription
Should be the same ! 😀
@@AntonioTheOptom okay thank you so much !💞
Hi, can you please help me convert my prescription glasses to contact lenses? Please I really need it. T hank you so much!
Left eye- Sphere: -4.50 Cylinder -0.75 Axis-180 PD-32
Right eye- Sphere: -4.75 Cylinder -0.50 Axis- 10 PD-30
Heyyy if my glasses prescription for both eye is -2.25 what would that be in contact lenses!?
Should be the same ! 👍
So i have -2.00 for glasses that means i should take -1.50 for contact lenses?
No, because your prescription is lower than -4.00 😃
So you would use -2.00 for contact lenses still
@@AntonioTheOptom thank you for the reply dude you're great
HarisH no worries dude ! Thank you for watching 😃😃😃
How can get this coz my father is lose sight four years ago
Hi, my spectacle prescription both eyes is +7.00ds,what will be the contact lens prescription, if I want to order for contact lens?
so if I want to buy contacts online, I'll have to convert my glasses prescription(-5.00 and -4.50) to -4.75 and -4.25 and when the website asks for my power, I put the contact prescription?
That is technically true but it is best if your optometrist checks the vision and fit before you use the converted power as contacts!
Did you buy online contact lens?
@@snehapatil5221 yeah
Is it true that we can add plus 200 in our grade if we have astigmatism? Because toric is very expensive
That’s is not true
Please help,my sphere for both eyes is 5.75 and cyl 0.75 for right and 1.50 for left. What would be my lens prescription?and what should i put on the website when they ask about power while buying online contact lens. Please let me know and thanks for this video.😇
With a relatively high prescription like this I think it might be best to consult your optometrist, I can give you a number but if the vertex distance is wrong then I’m afraid it’s going to be inaccurate
@@AntonioTheOptom currently I won't be able to consult, you can tell me I'll try and see if it works for me, please it's a request.😇
@@snehapatil5221 no sorry 😄
@@AntonioTheOptom Ok fine, but thanks for replying, appreciating your efforts and your videos are great.😊
So my eye glss prescription is -0.25 and -0.75, it would be the same for contacts??
You got it!
hi! my right eye is -3.50 and left is -3.75 for glasses. i was wondering what i should get my contacts prescription as? thank you!
Because it’s lower than -4.00 you should be fine to get the same prescription for your contacts!
i was kinda scared i ordered the wrong prescription number. thank youuu!!
Amira Mohamed happy to help! 🤗
if you were to get a -3.50 in both eyes you would be fine...my doctors takes my -3.25 and -3.00 and has me wearing -3.25 in both eyes.
Me too! I’m so glad I saw this comment thread
Antonio help! I went to my optometrist today for a prescription on glasses my sphere for glasses is -4.50 on both left and right. For some reason he wasn't doing contact lense prescriptions. What would you suggest that I'd be on contact lenses.
It is best to see your optometrist for this but the vertex distance calculations work out to be -4.25 in both eyes for contacts
@@AntonioTheOptom Right on. Thank you much.
