Right after this performance, Rob and the 3 girls sat down for an interview and Rob was an absolute gentleman speaking very highly of the girls while the girls looked at him lovingly and with admiration. I became a fan of his because of this performance and the interview. Then back in 2020 or 2021 in an article, Rob said he would love to collab with BABYMETAL on some new music.🤘🦊🤘
so much respect for him in that interview and how he made sure Babymetal was the important part and didn't try to steal the lime light of the interview. also he respected them at the end of the songs where he bowed out to them and walked away so again not taking away from Babymetal.
Great reaction, you could just see the sheer joy on Su-metal's face.😊🦊 That was a fun occasion and one they still remember enjoying as well as Rob Halford's encouraging words in the interview afterwards to "Stay Metal!" - a message they took to heart.🤘 The appalling camerawork didn't help with completely missing Takayoshi (and Moa as well perhaps) doing the guitar solo while Mikio (RIP) and Yui hit a couple of power chords. The camera also managed to miss Takayoshi and Moa down on their knees and lying back in "classic metal guitarist pose" (instigated entirely by Moa of course) as they played (I've seen a fan cam which caught that). Yui and Moa did say they had been practising hard and were very nervous about playing guitar live. I don't know if they did play live in the end, but they did have access to two of the very best teachers to help them prepare if they were going to in the form of the Kami Band guitarists Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Takayoshi Ohmura - and I wouldn't think the main riff for 'Breaking the Law' is the hardest to learn. Moa could play a bit, Yui was a beginner so it is more likely Moa was playing than Yui. They both had custom three quarter size limited edition ESP Babymetal mini arrow guitars for this. Rob bought the jacket and his outfit specially for this performance to match BABYMETAL's signature red and black colours and in the interview afterwards Rob (absolute gent) was full of praise for the girls describing them as "Fearless heavy metal monster ladies" ... that made them giggle. They were only going to do 'Breaking the Law' originally, but Rob said he was enjoying rehearsing with them so much that he said "Let's do Painkiller as well", so they put this mash up of the two songs together. At the end of their UK tour supporting Red Hot Chilli Peppers later that year they did this mash up of 'Painkiller' and 'Breaking the Law' again, but Su did all the vocals by herself and Chad Smith from RHCP was all dressed up as a Kami Band member and was playing drums ... and with a special birthday surprise for Su at the end - there are a couple of fancam videos of that if you're interested. Not so long ago Rob Halford said he would love to collaborate again with BABYMETAL, but this time to record a new song with them in Japanese.
Good call, Chris. Yes, all 4 guitars on that opening riff. And yes, when that riff comes back around near the end it does not sound as fat. And after the riff Yui was just strumming along with the main chords. Moa, who does play, was doing quite a bit more. The heavy lifting was left to Mikio and Ohmura. Great job by the kamiband. Pretty good for a bunch of Jazz/Fusion musicians. Fun to see Sam having such a good time.
Glad to see that Sam had as much fun as they had on stage. As for Moa and Yui playing the guitars, whilst Moa can play the guitar a bit (but admits that she doesn’t practice enough lol) they were probably just pretending (you can see their guitars hooked up but either muted or very very low in the mix). It’s still cool that they put in the effort and especially Moa had a lot of fun doing it. Yui was always a bit shy and introverted, so she probably didn’t feel as comfortable but either way fun nonetheless. Rob did an interview afterwards together with the girls for AP (I believe) which is also fun and shows how much respect they have for each other. Check it out if you want to: ruclips.net/video/KwqrMD9U76g/видео.htmlsi=0dozi35MPJOAajj4 Btw this was 2015 at the APMA awards xd.
This is kind of a rare thing not just because it's with Rob Halford, but because you get to see Su-metal just grooving on stage and not doing choreography, also Yui and Moa (kind of) playing guitar! Moa was learning guitar, but she has admitted that she doesn't practice enough. The guitars they are playing are ESP E-II Mini Arrow Babymetal signature model, which you could buy for a while. Takayoshi Ohmura has played the full size ESP E-II Arrow-7 at a couple of Babymetal shows.
I think they are playing, but however are at 0 in the mix. It's clear they picked something easier for Yuimetal than for Moametal. A couple of weeks after Yui was supposedly spotted at a guitar teacher claimed someone on Twitter.
I always struggle to get past the point in the video where Su plays air-guitar with Rob. I keep rewinding (is that word still used?) and watching it again and again, because I enjoy it so much. Makes me smile like an idiot.

This was amazing performance by babyMetal but Yui Metal and Moa Metal where using stage props guitar 🎸 but still I’m sure they later on learned how to play guitar for real I miss Yui Metal hope she doing well I’ve been supporting babyMetal for 10 years now and Su Metal voice is just amazing like always babyMetal one of the best bands in the world 🌎 cheers 🍻 😊🤟🇯🇵🦊🦊🦊

Rob Halford is one of the first to support Babymetal together with Metallica and Dragonforce. Even Slipknot Corey Taylor and Corey's son is a huge fan of Babymetal. This show took place at the annual Alternative Press Music Awards (APMAs) in Cleveland Ohio in July 2016. Babymetal shared the stage with Judas Priest frontman and Metal God himself Rob Halford. Together, they sang Judas Priest'slassics “Painkiller” and “Breaking The Law.” Halford and Suzuka Nakamoto aka Su-Metal scream well together. Watch the performance and feel good about humanity. Babymetal started the show with "Karate" from their Metal Resistance Album. In "Breaking The Law" both Yuimetal and Moametal play their custom "ESP Mini Arrow Guitar" together with Kami Band (Mikio Fujioka R.I.P 2018) & Takayoshi Ohmura, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Judas Priest legend Rob Halford has revealed that he would love to collaborate with Babymetal. In a new interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Rob remembers performing with Babymetal at the 2016 Alternative Music Awards, where they played Judas Priest's Breaking The Law and Painkiller. Rob Halford thinks BABYMETAL is one of the most unique metal experiences in the world right now. Not only their appearances, their style, and everything that surrounds them visually but they’re an incredible band as well. Rob Halford met the band a couple of years ago in America and they’re so passionate about metal, they know everything about metal music and they’ve created a very special feeling and experience within the entire world of metal. They work extremely hard to create something unique and I think it’s paying off and they’re doing such an amazing job. I was watching the new music video for ‘Starlight’ and even with one member leaving, they still sound great.” Rob Halford joined BABYMETAL their appearance at the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards in Columbus, Ohio. He performed two PRIEST classics“Painkiller” and “Breaking The Law”. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇬🇧🇸🇬#notacult.
I would like to see you react to babymetal's Awadama Fever and Meta Taro. Awadama Fever started it all for me. There is a great live video with a kami band intro. This song famously mentions a mint flavored time machine in the lyrics. I use the beginning of Meta Taro as my ring tone. Sumetal at one time picked this song as her favorite. It's about a heavy metal spirit from another galaxy. How cool is that.
I had forgot Mikio was in this video. 😢 damn. After this aired, ESP came out with the BM Mini Arrow 6-string and the BM 6&7 string Arrow guitars. The eBay price is $% nuts.
Will you guys check out Metalverse? They are an offshoot of Babymetal. They released an official music video (live) a few days ago called Crazy J. Very different from Babymetal but they also use the same Kami band. Worth a look.
ruclips.net/video/lcdm3br1bd0/видео.htmlsi=69GjJ_7Ab_8kInfc Here's a version of those songs without Halford and just Su having fun being the front woman without choreography
Crappy camera work (who points AWAY from the guy doing a guitar solo?!), bad sound work, the MC's were cringe in the beginning, dead crowd....BUT.... It says a lot about the energy, the absolute fun the girls, Rob and the Kamiband were having, to make this performance still be this good. You should check out a performance where Su sang Painkiller and Breaking the Law with Chad from Red Hot Chili Pepper on the drums, mostly fancam vids, but it's totally worth it, especially at the very end. 🤘🦊🤘
You guys should check out the interview with Rob and the girls from after this gig at KwqrMD9U76g :) Yeah, Moa and Yui were probably extremely low in the mix.. but I like to think they got training from the kami-band and at least could hear themselves in their own in-ears. Moa has played acoustic guitar later with BABYMETAL
Moa and Yui weren't playing on this, but is there anything more adorable and fun than seeing the two of them rocking out with their miniature flying vees? Moa has played acoustic guitar in live shows since this video was shot. And, of course, Yui has stepped away from the band, so who knows what she's been up to?
Hello. The guitars that BABYMETAL playing is made by ESP, BABYMETAL signature guitars....
ESP is the Go To brand of metallica since late 1980:s aswell
Yui, bless her heart, is going with the flow and making the best of it. Moa on the other hand is living out her rock god fantasy.
Joining in with the singing 😮 is that a first . safe to say you guys enjoyed that great reaction 😀
