I have an insert that is easy to transfer when I change bags. The struggle is real to keep my purses from becoming a black hole. When I sort my clothes for the next day, that is when I swap the bag and ensure I have everything needed for the next day. Not always foolproof! Lighter colors make better inserts because the lighter colors make things easier to locate.

I enjoyed this video! I giggled when you were looking for your organizer. So, cute your reaction. My messy story is: I had my purse on the table corner at lunch with my friends. I went to the restroom. My friends saw my purse was messy. They knocked it on the floor and left the contents spill out. I came out and had to crawl on the floor and gather my mirror, lipstick, and belongings. I was horrified. They taught me a big lesson that day. Organize. Take care of my belongings. My friends are fun. We help each other climb up!

The inserts are genius! Pre-pandemic, I switched purses daily. Now I use only my large tote. I agree that an organized bag is calming.

Ms. Lovely Marie-Anne: It has always been a challenge for me to find the most accommodating bag to carry as I have worked in at least a dozen call center and always needed a bag that was large enough to carry an enormous headset and seemingly reams of papers of training materials. Most of the time I would carry my own medium sized purse and a semi- large tote as well as a small lunch/ dinner bag... Well - made bags are an absolute ‘ must ‘ for this type of work. My hat goes off to anyone who takes on this endeavor and I wish them the very very best of luck . Again, thank you.

Bonjour! I tried purse organizers some years ago when they first came out but those ones were all too heavy. So I now use several small, brightly coloured cosmetic bags for necessary stuff. Probably these newer versions are much lighter!
    My funny "messy bag" story:
Taking the subway home very late one night...after a long night's work -professional vocalist - I had changed into sneakers and stuffed the uncomfortable wire bra into my large tote with music, makeup etc. Shuffled over to pay my fare and immediately dug around for money and flipped the lacey black bra into the air...well, the ticket-man got quite a jolt 🤣🤣🤣. Still had to pay, though. 🥴
Marie-Anne, I do enjoy your videos, merçi !

Lovely purses! I have gone to small purses. The most important part of a purse or liner for me is to have a light color inside. Dark colors become so difficult to peer into… like a cave of wonders that is much larger than the outside of the bag!

I love that the organizers are light. When I am on top of it, I use various sized cosmetic bags that have compartments. Some of my bags have a bunch of their own compartments. I really love those organizers. I will be purchasing a couple. Thank you.

I usually carry a tote size bag and use a purse organizer. It is so easy to change purses with it. It also keeps ink marks out of your hand bag. If you protect the inside of your bag, it helps hold the resell value. I also like them because some purses have dark linings and it is hard to find things. If you get a lighter organizer, it makes it easier to see things.

My Husband bought me a black nylon bag organizer, when he was on a transAtlantic flight & saw it in the flight mag.
I wasn’t simply touched that he thought of me, but it has made my Life so much easier. It was in 2010, so the prices are SO MUCH CHEAPER now, than then. Now I’m motivated to maybe get a few more of different sizes.
That said, I wish it had more *structured sizes*, because it is basically a sac with pockets, so it does let things *fall under* the organizer… all the pockets, the zip side pocket, the key ring tether, all quite excellent. I have a bed for the organizer, so it gives me a chance to check what fell out..

I minimized what I take with me on a daily basis about 10 years ago when I rid of all my handbags except for one tote. My driver's license, proof of insurance, medical and credit cards, photos, calendar and computer are all on in my phone. Sunglasses, makeup, water-bottle, tissue, change of clothes/shoes are in soft carryon bags in the two cars ( as this is how I travel for now). The only drawback is that I have to be sensitive to not misplacing or losing my phone, but I feel the the freedom of clutter out ways the risk. The one tote I kept will now sport one of those great inserts you shared with us to use when I decide to travel by other means. Such a great video, Marie-Anne.

Hi Marie-Anne. Bag organisers became a must have for me. I was going crazy, not being able to find things at a glance. It makes it easier to spot what you’re missing too once you start using them. I have synthetic ones which are easy to slip in and out of bags, although I like to have space around them anyway, not tight fitting so that the handbag doesn’t lose shape, like you showed with the light grey one that accommodates pleats or folds of the bag. With totes, something like that can be a bit small, so I have a larger one as well. I like the felt ones you have. I did actually look for felt when I was looking for mine but couldn’t find one. Felt will stay put neatly in your bag. If you’re someone who carries liquids a synthetic waterproof one is good, although I find the pockets hold liquid bottles nicely. As to your question, I think a burgundy insert would look nice. A lot depends on what you’re putting into your bag. For instance if you have a black purse/wallet it’s easier to spot in a light insert. I think inserts are great. The messiest thing for my bags are receipts! They’re so big these days, too big for my wallet. I even put in a little leather envelope style purse that I had, to put receipts in but when I’m shopping I don’t usually put them straight in there because I can’t fuss around with that when people are waiting.
I enjoyed the video. Thank you Marie-Anne!

I have mostly very small bags which fit my 5'3" frame best - but still manage to lose things, especially keys! I'd like to get a bit larger tote for some occasions at which point I must get one of these organizers!
My most recent acquisition is a vintage 1950's needlepoint handbag in mint condition (and it was so inexpensive!!). I'm very excited about it!
I think the darker blue color would be great for your satchel as it will blend in from a side view into the bag. No doubt, you'll find the perfect color, whatever it might be; your taste is exquisite!

This is a great timesaver to use the inserts and to have them researched out, bought, and shown in a video. Fabulous! I have utilized the links already on Amazon and the prices are really good. My worse messy handbag story is finding money and jewelry in the pocket of a handbag and I spent months looking for the jewelry and forgot about the cash until the day I decided to donate the handbag to charity. I opened everything to clean it up and voila. So glad I looked.

I agree a messy purse is stressful. We carry much more stuff in USA in our pursues: like our sunglasses, our reading glasses, our make up bag, our mask, our phone, our mints our lap top , note pad, pin , rosary, keys, henkeshift, floss, eye drops, nail file, Tylenol, sanitizer, business cards. Organizing all this wont be easy but I agree inserts will help!

  • @tilialindenbaum3114

I do have little „units“ which are carefully packed and curated. I can quickly put them from one bag to another. I only grab the units that I need for the occasion ahead (and for the bag I use). Because they are individually packed, I don’t need extra storage. I just throw them in. This system was suggested by the book „Simplify your life“, written by Tiki Küstenmacher. It serves me so well since more than 20 years. The units are: keys, wallet, small zipper bag with essential cosmetics (like desinfect, lip balm, tampons, tissues), a really small umbrella, my smartphone and a face mask. That’s usually it. If I go out at night, I only take the nessecities: keys, phone and wallet. If we travel, I have another slim pouch with a foldable bag, a swiss knife, stain remover and maybe some sunglasses. 👜

Hello, I'm happy to have "discovered" you thank to Jennifer L. Scott, and I have thoroughly enjoyed several of your videos. This particular one on order in the handbag solved a problem for me: not that I don't have a bag organiser, I have several, but they are FLOPPY! They get on my nerves almost as much as if there was nothing. Even though everything has a place, as I like my bag to be, reaching inside the floppy organiser proves difficult. I have ordered your large felt one, which can see holds its shape very well, and I'm sure it will make retrieving things much easier. Thank you!

      Dear Janelle,
That is so funny. It reminds me of my kitty in my car. She was sitting on top of my big purse and I thought she looked so adorable. The next day at Nordstroms, I reached in for my wallet and I pulled out . . . a cat turd! Augh! She had crapped in my purse in the car. What could I do in front of the saleslady? I said to her, "Would you like this Almond Roca candy?" "No thank you," she said. "More for me!" I retorted. It really did look like an Almond Roca, but how embarrassing.

I can be messy sometimes in my life but with my bags I am almost pathologically tidy. I can’t stand pulling stuff out to find things. I don’t need an organiser for any of my current bags because I tend to go for structured bags and things don’t tend to move around. But they are really good for keeping the shape of floppy bags so if I ever buy one of them I will definitely be buying an organiser.

when I lived in a small Scottish village that was an hour and 20 minutes by bus from the city I worked in, I had a backpack to not just lug work stuff and lunch but to also carry home groceries that the local shop didnt always stock. It was really heavy - my biggest "oops" was finding a multipack of tinned tuna that had been lurking in the bottom for probably several months. Now I live in a small city in the north of England and have just a small shoulder bag and a tote for shopping - life is so much easier if you dont have to factor in commuting, I have a couple of small zipper type bags I use to keep things organised but I love (LOVE) those bag inserts

When I worked, I would do house calls on Fridays…stethoscope, BP cuff, Oxygen Sat meter, prescription pad, note paper, iPad, phone, pens..I had a big bag. I didn’t want a backpack. I always use the pockets of hand bags, so I buy them with many pockets. I stopped using totes because they get too heavy to carry...hurt my shoulder. Now, I've even stopped carrying handbags of any kind, and use the pockets of my clothing. I've pared down what I carry to the very minimum. If I need to carry more, I will carry a small body bag, with plenty of pockets in it. On the times I need to carry documents, I have a couple of different satchel that are thin.

As time has gone by, I can no longer carry a larger heavier purse, I carry a small lighter bag now. All I can put in it are my little money bag, my phone, my lip stick or gloss and some throat lozenges, keys and glasses. But I did love those "kitchen sink bags".

As usual, chic and sensible at the same time. Thank you. I like a handbag with a lighter color lining. It makes it easier to see what is in the bag. I needed an insert for my le Pliage. Alas, I wore it out. I adore my new MZ Wallace Metro tote deluxe. It is super lightweight and has a ton of pockets and a strap to attach your keys. One of the outside pockets has a zipper on the bottom--- unzip and it is a sleeve that slips over a wheeled carry-on handle. As I get older, lightweight is key so I stay away from leather totes. I miss them, but something had to give.

My pet hate is handbags with black lining as you can't see anything inside and it's even worse if it is night time, so I like light or bright coloured organisers or even a pattern as it makes your things stand out. I change my bag a lot so it makes it very quick to swap from one to another. 🙋

Great video as always Marie-Anne. I have some issues and solutions for bags. First: I avoid heavy bags and bags that have a black or dark lining as I can never find anything. Even if the bag itself is black, the inside must be a lighter colour. I need a bag to be light and fit well over the shoulder (if I am using it over the shoulder). I prefer bags with minimum 3 inside pockets - but not divisions, because I can never remember which side of the division I put things. I put make up in an inner big pocket, and pens, stick lipsticks in one pocket. And tissues, wipes and disenfectant gels, tweezer, nail file, etc. in the other inside pocket. In the main body goes my wallet, glasses, any books, keys and phone. I prefer bags with a good outside pocket. I have tried those bags that you can put in, remove and take to another bag: It all starts out great, all nicely in the "bag-in-the-bag", so exciting, neat and very 'feng shui'. But before long, all hell breaks loose and I wind up having stuff in the 'bag-in-the-bag' AND stuff in the inside and outside pockets of my bag. So becomes quite caotic and I just prefer for the bag to have the right pockets! Wonder if anybody else has had this experience! Love your video! Thank you!

I have an organizer for my medium size bags. I love the fact that I can simply take it out of one bag and drop it in another. However, it doesn't work if you have considerably different size bags. Even though mine in satin and light weight, I find it still adds more weight than I like. I prefer a handbag with one larger compartment rather than one with 2 or 3 compartments. I had one with 2 zippers and I was always opening the wrong zipper.
Another trick that I learned from a woman Nikki, on another channel is to use multiple small bags inside. For instance, I have several makeup bags (sometimes they come free with a purchase). One can be to hold electronics like chargers ear buds etc., another for makeup, a third for tissues, hair ties etc. You categorize them as you see fit.
I would choose a Burgundy or Navy insert for your cute bag. I think a darker matching color will stay cleaner looking.
I will check out some of your inserts. Thank you for the suggestions. It's nice to share ideas.

I have 3 different inserts that I use when I carry a "tote" or "backpack" type of handbag, and my favorite has a large zipper that closes the top and protects the content from spilling out (on a train or airplane, for example). However, now that I commute less frequently, I have streamlined what I carry daily, and can use smaller handbags. Most of them are satchel style, with top handles and removable/adjustable straps. Instead of using an insert with pockets, I organize my things in zippered pouches: one to carry the keys, phone, card case, and 2 reusable shopping bags, another that holds my reading glasses, sunglasses, and a pen, and a third one to carry a little bit of makeup, a perfume travel atomizer, hair ties, bobby pins, and feminine products. I take them with me in that order of priority: Number 1 always comes, regardless the bag I'm wearing that day, Number 2, almost all the time, and Number 3 is optional. If I'm just making a quick stop at the bookstore or the pharmacy and know I won't be needing to touch up my makeup or hair, I can take pouches 1 and 2 in a small crossbody and leave pouch #3 behind.

My tip is to make sure your purse has plenty of pockets, then keep all of your non- urgent things in the pockets, such as pens or deodorant. I keep my phone and wallet in the main body of the purse, so that way I am functionally only reaching for two things as opposed to sifting through what feels like 50 things. My bonus tip is to buy travel sized duplicates of the things you carry day to day and keep them in each purse. That way, I only have to move over my phone and wallet.

My handbag is a modest size leather Coach tote. It only has a couple of pockets inside, so I got a purse organizer with more pockets from Amazon and now I can find everything in seconds and I can switch my things from one bag to another easily by just removing the organizer 😊

I have always preferred “organiser bags” for these very reasons. Unfortunately there is not so much variety so these insert bags are excellent. However it’s never really been a problem for me, because I’m one of those people who, once I find what they like (ie handbag, shoes, cardigans, trousers, dresses etc ….. will order identical in all different colours! lol)
Regarding your black/burgundy/cream handbag I personally would opt for a burgundy insert bag, simply because it will blend in more with the burgundy area of the bag.
I’ll definitely be interested to see other’s opinions.
I really enjoy your videos. Definitely a Chic Expert!

I just empty out my purse everyday. I have a little tray that I put all my stuff in to keep it clean and organized. That way I can change out my purse whenever I want. I also use two small bags that keep certain small items tidy.

Thanks for the fun video, I always mean to sew my own organizer and don't get to it. Now that I see those light felt ones, I want to try them instead.
I would prefer a dark blue organizer for the small satchel, or burgundy.

Those organizers are really smart! ❤️ I think the burgundy color for the small satchel insert would be my preference. Maybe cream or white will soil easy and draw attention away from the satchel when it’s opened, because the lighter color draws more attention. Just my opinion. 😉

Speaking of handbags, I was wondering if you could do a video on handbag brands that French women carry? And is an Hermes bag something you aspire to buy?

My bag would be full of receipts for months. Now I just carry the essentials for me it's my wallet, keys , pen, and lip balm. Now with Cooties 19 an added hand sanitizer. I do my best to not add too much more than that and receipts will get discarded at home or sooner. Plus I love bags with somewhere to clip my keys inside so even if my keys are at the bottom I can still find them easily. Thanks for sharing. :)

For the burgundy-cream-navy handbag, I would choose an insert in navy, black, or burgundy. I prefer them in dark colors, unless the inside of the purse is very, very light, in which case I like matching the lining.

I love the insert. I've never seen them in the stores. Are they only available online?
What's nice about them is that you might change purse but the inside won't vary too much so you can remember where everything is as it's being repeated from purse to purse. Need to find my self some organizers. 😘. Ty. This will help a lot.

Hey Marie-Anne! I like the multi-compartments of this style organizer. I actually use a zippered cosmetic bag inside my handbag to contain loose things. It works well for me. To answer your question about what color organizer to change to, I suggest the navy to match your handbag so it will blend in and not show from the side. Hope this helps! 💕

Really great idea. My everyday bag already has lots of compartments and I tend to use just 2 little cross body bags for leisure. I have a rattan tote bag that could do with an organiser. I try to carry as little as possible as Ive had a frozen shoulder for alot of this year. X

This was great advice, thanks Marie-Anne! I have ordered 2 of the organizers one large and one medium, not the same brand as yours, I bought the ones that had the compartments for water bottles on either end, to use or to take out, all from Amazon as well. Merci'!

i prefer smaller bags and use an assortment pouches for organisation. One for makeup, one for chargers, one for pencils, one for crap etc. I can add and subtract pouches as I need or don't need the items in them. I know many bag people use the samorga organisers that are made for specific bag styles, but I only gave 2 totes and that's usually for shopping or for carrying extra layers. Those organisers should be in light colours so you don't look into a dark void :D

Those inserts are really nice to keep organized but also to keep accidents from ruining an expensive handbag. I have really pared down what I take but I do keep small items like medication in a cosmetics bag and pens etc in another then just transfer between purses. I like a separate pouch or ring to attach keys to as well. prefer a lighter colour interior of any bag so I look inside to see my other items easily.

I keep all the smallish things like lip balm, tissues, etc. in a small sack and my mobile in an outside pocket. The rest are big, self-contained items like full-size wallet and planner. Il marche bien comme ça!
