I am a third-year student in architecture school, and I've been working on assembling my portfolio during this winter break. While I was initially excited about the break to dedicate time to my portfolio, I hadn't anticipated the challenges of this process. Determining which projects are my strongest has proven difficult, and maintaining consistency has been a struggle due to the diverse nature of each project. Love your videos! They've been so helpful..
The main part I struggle with when just looking at my portfolio is the idea that I could make it better in a way but don’t know how. Maintaining a cohesive style throughout all the projects, especially when u work in groups at the university is hard since everyone has their style and I’ll never have all the projects in the same style. So the rework to keep the same style is very time-consuming. Btw love your videos! Hope to see you in Milano or elsewhere soon!
thanks for the comment! yep I totally get it, it's not really easy being cohesive at first. And sadly the solution to many of it is redrawing many of the images and plans! Could you comment your email again please? I think youtube eliminates them, if it doesn't work then perhaps send me a DM through instagram with the screenshot of this comment and I'll send you the download link.
I really struggle with the layout/composition of my portfolio and making it all look consistent throughout all of it. Sometimes I design the spreads of one project in a way that I think looks good, then I do another project, and when I look back they end up looking really different haha. I'm still working on that but your content helps me a lot!
I loved how you explained in each of your videos, and you have inspired me to compose my portfolio. By the way, I'm about to start my 3rd year in Interior Architecture in about 3 months, so I aim to secure an internship to fill the gap in this long break. I, myself am a beginner to the whole Adobe software and a template might be a big help for me and to kick start ideas in my head. to build my portfolio I also have a hard time putting which projects are best and making the portfolio stand out as a 2nd year student who only has done a few projects.
Thank you for your amazing videos of inspiration! I have been working on my portfolio for the past 3 days and it is indeed hard to start in the first 3 contents, and somehow thinking at the back of my mind (I think I can do better than what I am currently doing) so it's really hard to move on per page especially when the perfectionist inside keeps messing with your head. Thank you for sharing even if it's just the TOC. It really shows how you guys care to share strategies even if it's the smallest detail to do.
Designing a portfolio creation system is the thing that changed it all for me! before I just winged it, now I have systems in place for each step. Could you comment your email again please? I often find it challenging to maintain a cohesive visual style across all of my project graphics since my projects vary so much in scale and architectural style. It can be quite a demanding task to revamp them, but I believe the effort would be worthwhile. Thank you, as always, for your fantastic video!
cohesiveness is the no 1 issue! for sure. Could you comment your email again please? I think youtube eliminates them, if it doesn't work then perhaps send me a DM through instagram with the screenshot of this comment and I'll send you the download link.
Hi Steven, I also struggle with creating a consistent style in my portfolio as for each project in uni I explore a different style and approach to displaying my work to see what i enjoy the most and what I am best at.
The biggest struggle for me is compiling a graphic language that looks visually appealing and also synthesizes well with my projects. However, I think the ideas presented here could prove helpful! Thanks!

I definitely struggle with a consistent aesthetic across all my project graphics. Feels like a big lift to go do a bunch of rework but its probably worth it! Thanks as always for a great video!

Hi Steven, what a nice video, great inspiration! Something I struggle with is to create coherent style throughout my portfolio(s), so I hope to use the templates as inspiration to work out a matching TOC for my design projects!

Thanks a Lot Steve 🙂😊You re best. I struggle with the style of my portfolio images. This is a simple fade or gray color, not an HD image type. How can I enhance them and make them visually appealing?

The biggest struggle for me when making my portfolio is when I try to find a font that fits my design and what I want to show to the public, also when I insert an image and I can't scale it well.

I struggle with putting in the part where work is not related to architecture and design but more related to policy making and reports for technical recommendations.
it's hard to say specifically, really depends on who you are sending it to, what is your objective, etc. But when a portfolio exceeds 50-60 pages I would say it's too much
Well, I wondered because most jobs want a portfolio who has around 10MB. How many good pages do you think that it should fit in there? Around 20 to 30? @@ShowItBetter
Hi Steven, informative video as always. I commented yesterday (1 day ago) but unfortunately, it seems like RUclips deleted my comment since I included my email. I was asking for advice, I am currently reworking on my portfolio, and I am trying to figure out which project should be the first one (opening project). I have a commercial building design which is my best work so far and I have a residential design that just got completed being constructed and I am wondering if should I add my best project as the first one on my portfolio or should I add the completed residential building as my first project?
the best one for sure! and then the completed one. Usually you want to have the more wow projects towards the beginning, and towards the middle, projects that add layers of complexity to your profile.
