- A perfect way to greet the day... Listen to Fazıl Say's recording of the Sonata in F minor by Domenico Scarlatti, from his Morning Piano collection: w.lnk.to/sfmLY
Morning - Evening is an inspired project by the Turkish pianist, who presents curated assortments of pieces written or transcribed for piano to fit each of these temporal moods. On his selections for the morning, the pianist explains, "There have been mostly baroque and early classical works on the radio in the mornings since my childhood. I used to start the day with the beautiful melodies and rhythmic energy of baroque music. Therefore, I particularly wanted to have many music pieces from this period in the Morning Piano collection."

I love how baroque music can be interpreted so many different ways
Fazil's performance here is absolutely so beautifully tender. Trills to die for. My favorite interpretation ever.
IMO,, with this performance Fasil Say now OWNS Scarlatti, K. 466.
Since he is also a composer it makes difference
This Scarlatti sonata has such emotional potential that the performer brings out, that if Scarlatti were to hear it, he would probably faint. You simply can’t have comparable dynamics on a harpsichord. I’m sure that the Wanda Landowski and GlennGould aficionados are horrified - playing Scarlatti in a modern/late romantic style! Heavens! But for the rest of us, it is sublime.
music is romantic, and emotion, this is.
it is so unfortunate that most people still do not know that Scarlatti played both types of harpsichords namely cembali di penna (feather quill) and cembali di martelletti (with hammers) that is early pianoforte.
Interpretation is free. Love this one
To be up front: I have come to regard Scarlatti as the greatest composer, though I remain extremely fond of Bach and Mozart. But for me, Scarlatti is just in a different world.
Maybe he would from delight !
- SCARLATTI, K. 466 -
You can't see it.
Nobody can.
You'd never even guess.
Nobody could
because - well, you see, the thing is ...
I"m crying
from the Inside Out.
What a cruel thing to do, Domenico -
To make an Old Man Cry.
It's a Lovely type of Cruelty, though -
and so I forgive you,
and I thank you
because - well, you see, the thing is ...
Right now - at this very Moment,
I needed those Heavenly Tears.
Fazil, you are my biggest inspiration for my playing AND composing. Thank you for this sublime performance.❤
Just incredible, such a sublime rendition, so diverse and well built up at the same time
Sin duda la mejor composición de Sacarlatti. Tremendamente hermosa.
As far as spirit can go, this is magic
en sevdigim sonata !!!!! çok mutluyum su an
Saludos de Chile a gran Compositor y a gran Pianista
Great playing! I know how to play this piece, but I still work on it to improve my playing. I learned a lot from this performance, there are tons of idea that I can copy! For me this is the best K.466!
That's great I played this piece too. That is what is good about this world.
I was just thinking of learning some Scarlatti. This is now number one on the list. I have never heard this sonata played this way. Dear Domenico, please forgive me in advance!
Wunderschön!!
Bravissimo
Wow! Thank You! You are a great inspiration for the beauty of perfectly shaped phrasing. I can't wait to dig out my Scarlatti and set to work on expressing some of what you do. You are such a gift. And I also admire your compositions!
Tears drop where Fazil whispers.
BRAVO !!!!!!!!
memories of my youth . beautiful memories 🧡🧡🧡
It melts me
Pure and wonderful emotions
Bellissimo...grande
Um bom momento para reflexões !
We even can hear him singing !
This is so great, it lives forever with "Fur Elise."
Brilhante execução !!
I just started studying this piece last week, after recently discovering Scarlatti. I love his compositions! They are such fun to learn. This performance is really nice. Maybe not so Baroquish, but still lovely.
Çox gözəl! Fazil bu əsərin ən mahir ifaçısıdır. Əhsən!
Nothing wrong in those emotions, particularly played in such exquisite way
Glenn Gould doesn’t play Scarlatti Bach or Beethoven he plays Glenn Gould
Quel beau son !
Spellbinding!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! Bravo!!!
Douceur et poésie...... charmant 🎉
It touch the limits of expression
Grazie ❤
Cok guzel. Tesekkurler!!
Distile,fermente,dingin duygular...
watched with immensely tearful eyes..

That sounds like ...you are getting too old...and dementia ....
@@neversayneveragain3748 according to your poor linguistic skills of course .
@neversayneveragain3748 Nope. I've listened to other beautiful pieces, and they made me tearful. I'm not going to say my exact age, but I'm just going to say that I'm not old.

Only 2077 kids remember this 😢😊
Grazie.
Incrívelmente linda ❤
great
A great pianist and composer 👌
Yes.
Me encanta. Trabajo en ella
❤
Hayran olmamak elde değil...
If Domenico had lived 100 years later...
Fazıl Say, seni dinlemek seninle aynı ülkede yaşıyor olmak tanrının bir lütfu...
REVERENCE ✨️ ❤️
Grande Fazil, tocco stupendo.
Motivation
Great insight into the sentimentality of this sonata.
❤
Eccezionale. Period
exquisite.. wish we wouldn't hear his voice
I believe Keith Jarrett's Paris concert was inspired by this song.
hayatımda dinlediğim en şahane parçalardan biri.

🌺💐❤️💕💕💕
this musicalité is wonderful
I'm in another world. 😔
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👍
Délicat!
mind candy
Oh man I am weaping yea yea
Wladimir Horowitz could not have done it better. And he was one the greatest Scarlatti interpreters of all times.
Bravo B
Horowitz version is great too ! But this one IS awesomely beautiful
When finished, go watch Tiffany Poon play it.
I love Tiffany Poon's delicacy and sensibility, but the best rendition of this piece, to me, is the one of Yuja Wang. Unfortunately, there is only an audio version available on RUclips...
@@amanoutetue-miche6591 Everyone to their own taste. I have heard good things about Ms. Wang’s playing, and since it’s audio only, perhaps I’ll give it a try. I generally prefer my musicians fully clothed.
@@mencken8 🤣🤣🤣 does a bare leg or shoulder scare you? This woman doesn't give a damn about susceptibility of prudish people like you, and she's perfectly right! Poor you 😂
At the first listen its easy to confuse this as a Romantic Work
Um… no it’s really not.
nerd alert
what a painful evocation !
Like I think instead of making such face impression and whispers (to spice the performance up) he could at least play correctly not changing the dynamics. You can reply hateful comments, but to other musicians it’s just pathetically unfair to overestimate mediocre musicians
i'm another musician, his performance is great. I guess you're not a Horowitz fan since he also plays this piece like this?
I respect the pianist’s effort but I didn’t like the interpretation at all, it was mediocre and I believe lots of unknown musicians can play this piece way better. Warner need to find them instead of overestimating mediocre musicians
yeah got it, u r racist or just envy :)
There is a difference between you saying you do not like the performance, and saying it was mediocre.
u should listen to the first comment, it's good advice
Que genio es Scarlatti!!!
