Mountain roe deer. Hunting equipment test. Zeiss V8 and Sauer 101 Highland XTC

If roe deer hunting is exciting in itself, doing it in high mountains gives you an extra bit of emotion, uncertainty and difficulty.
We will travel to the most intricate parts of the Sierra del Norte de Guadalajara to enjoy two roe deer stalkings in a unique environment, where we will take the opportunity to test Sauer's new carbon rifle, the S101 Highland XTC.
The search for increasingly technological, light and precise rifles has led Sauer to design a middle-class model in which these three premises are combined in a single weapon.
Adapting the renowned action of the Sauer S101 with some interesting modifications and premium finishes, they have managed to obtain a rifle of only 2450 grams in its standard version.
Thanks to the incorporation of a robust and light aerospace carbon stock, and the implementation of a fluted and cold-hammered barrel, a weapon weighing just 2.4Kg is obtained, which despite its light weight, will have a contained recoil thanks to to its balanced construction, design and the absorption properties that carbon incorporates. In addition, the S101 Highland XTC incorporates the Ever Rest System, its bedding assembly that guarantees precision even after thousands of hunting days in the most demanding weather conditions. A Dura Safe direct drive insurance system, where the firing pin is activated by an ergonomic button. Its 60º bolt is fast and smooth, built with 6 lugs that sit directly in the barrel, making it more precise and safe. The extra wide shape of the trigger and its direct action, with an adjustable pressure from 950 grams, provides more precision at the time of the shot. Its charger is removable with a capacity of 5+1 (standard) and 4+1 (magnum) and includes a removable ring system, allowing you to adapt the Sauer carbon bipod directly to the weapon's prop.
