This entire playthrough was very good. Brutal moments and unspeakable horrors, sure... but it was a very rich and intricate story with a very interesting narrative and was honestly made way better just through your commentary! I'm certainly shocked by the plot twist at the end and personally I too have theories on it. One thing I wanna point out is how Tim (papa) mentioned the experiments starting 10 years prior. At the start it's noted that Lily is 9. This would mean the original Lily was somewhere around 19 years old. I'm presuming that she escaped either by carrying extra rope and climbing from the drain pipe after reaching it, and with the length of the already made rope she probably had enough to climb down before the drain flushed her out. Or perhaps the original Lily escaped by running through the woods until finding civilization and therefore some people to trust. When she mentions her boyfriend it made me think to myself that maybe a friend's parent or his own parents found her after escaping and cared for her, raising her like their own. There's also a possibility of her stealing papa's car and driving away, hence why he has no car or vehicle in their driveway. I actually don't think his co-workers or family were helping in the experiments at all, maybe he wrote those notes and placed those similar mentions of them around his property strategically to confuse and throw off the cloned Lilys, wanting to avoid making the same mistakes twice. He also probably had the room full of mutated and deformed clones as a sort of waste bin for whatever didn't come out anywhere near correct, as he did mention some clones developing mutations. And another theory is that the skeleton of Lily covered in maggots was the first clone who died that playthrough, as the captions to that death mentioned maggots eating the corpse. And sure that could just be any random clone covered in maggots however that skeleton looked rather fresh. If it was an older skeleton it'd probably have been more white in hue with far less maggots. The skeleton we saw was yellowish, covered in gristle and writhing with maggots. Then there's another one I think makes more than enough sense... the Lily at the very bottom of the well screaming for help at the start who is later revealed to have been a clone that broke its legs... what if that was a Lily who survived the fall down, since there's no logical way papa could've gotten back the rope, chains, etc that dropped down with her when she fell. Perhaps, in relation to my other theory, after cutting the rope he pulled it back up. To avoid another Lily escaping from the drain pipe. And my final three theories on this are that the well was the point of trauma where all Lilys suffered and died. The original having escaped ten years prior, had retained that memory. She probably remembered the deaths of the clones the same way they had and once the final clone had managed to remember her original, now grown up self's phone number she was able to remember everything else, including the location of her old home, and the well. And the VHS tape that papa skipped a part of is some sort of time paradox, as it has grown up Lily's phone number in it, almost as if either papa made the tape, or the original Lily edited it before her escape. And finally I have a theory that before the original Lily could escape, papa somehow managed to get a sample of her blood or lock of her hair... SOMETHING that could retain enough DNA to create fully fledged clones, and once the original blood ran out he had to use clone blood, which would honestly perfectly explain the deformed and mutated clones. They are clones of clones which is basically inbreeding, but sciency, I guess... anyways I hope this wasn't a waste of time to read and I sincerely hope you're enjoying your week and day!
