The silvery solenoid in the battery compartment where the positive terminal is connected is the power cut-off solenoid. It is activated by positive supply from ignition switch. You can bypass it by connecting the battery terminal directly to the other end where a similar heavy gauge wire is connected.

A simple test with the voltmeter to see if power is coming out the other side would tell the tale. This ain’t that difficult…… I’m guessing that jumper was to activate the cut-off solenoid….

Sorry this one would not run for you.
When you get into wiring and electrical things could be a lot of things wrong.
Think this one will just have to be.
You and Wiley did your best. Just press on to the next one.

A couple of years ago my cousin bought a 1997 Komatsu PC300 LC-6 that was sitting in the woods since 1999.
My cousin purchased the excavator from the widow of the original owner and she told my cousin that her husband purchased the excavator brand new shortly after buying the property it was abandoned on. He purchased the excavator to clear the property and build their log home. The excavator sat all winter and when summer hit her husband fired up the excavator to start digging a pond and within minutes the machine lost oil pressure and the oil was everywhere. Her husband figured out the block froze and cracked amd coolant filled the crank case when he fired it up and that was the last time the machine was used and it was never repaired due to her husband having a stroke and he never recovered enough to do anything. The house was too much to maintain for the widow and she couldn't live alone anymore so she was selling the house and the excavator had to go. My cousin purchased the excavator from her for $5000 and had a week to get it off the property. We pulled the engine at the property using a tree with a pulley and the winch on his truck. The engine in that excavator was a rebranded 8.3 Cummins so I found a core engine for sale and used what I could from the original engine. We installed the engine and fired up the excavator without any problems. The excavator didn't even have 300 hours on it and everything was like new except for the wear and tear from sitting in the woods for over 20 years. The machine cleaned up very nicely

I noticed in the 1st video that the fuse cover was off inside the cab. Plus you said there was an issue with the engine not cutting out. Did you check the fuses to see if the owner had previously removed the fuse/relay for the fuel pump to cut out the engine? Just a thought. Love your content

Hank, did you check the continuity of the cable to the starter from the battery? Did you try jumper cable from the battery to the starter? That sure acts like there is a master shut off switch somewhere. Ask the guy with the pc200 where it is. If you go back take a leaf blower and a grinder to get a good ground.

I'd try getting the owner to get another fusible Link distribution power control block for that 24-volt direct feed fuel solenoid shutoff switch on kumotsu backhoe.,or whatever the name brand of it actually is guy's. I would put some actual eyelets on those bare wires that go to the battery terminal post to individually also for safety and better connection purposes to. Cause that controller fused distribution block has A burned out fuse link inside of it. That's causing those issues due it having loose terminals and other loose connections on it to Hank. That fusible link is made into that block as one whole unit unfortunately to.

I don't like to speak ill of anyone, but neither of these boys is the sharpest tool in the shed !
They passed right over the first thing they should have done.
They should have cleaned all the battery connections first.
24 volt dc or 1 volt dc if you ain't got good connections anything electric is not gonna work.
If they could not find the power lead to the fuel solenoid they should have still been able to jump it.
But I was not on the job with um so what do I know.
