I'm glad you talked about the New Yorker's writing style being hard to understand. There's still a bit of a misunderstanding today that using floral language and sophisticated words is considered good writing. But good writing is simple and understandable. It's a subtle "art" of learning how to construct sentences that flow together and using words at appropriate times. You use words to make an impact on the readers, and you can't do that if all you write is a confusing mess of thesaurus words in an attempt to sound smart.
On the topic of gut health, my dad is a doctor and always tells me not to drink a freshly squeezed juice at once. He's like "Would you eat 2 oranges in a matter of seconds?" :D Apparently is not good for your stomach P.S. always enjoying your vlogs :)

To chime in to your conversation about overly-processed media: I'm reading a great book called This Idea is Brilliant (talking to professionals in different fields about ideas they don't think get enough attention) and a psychologist spoke about how it's our modern habit of only reading headlines (or incredibly simplified infographics on IG) that has created our current state of political extremism-- Because you read a straightforward headline and it feels black or white, you agree or disagree, and we don't take the time to read the article and learn the angles that develop a grey area/space to compromise.
I just thought that was super interesting and relevant to your conversation Xx
This is soooooo interesting! It makes me think about why I had to unplug myself from social media. I noticed that I became so quick to judge everything and stand on a side of a topic because it seemed logical or like the right way to think but i wasn’t thinking about how I really felt or the reality of adding a certain view point to my life and relationships. Def gonna check this out!

Hey Jenn! Just to clarify, we actually just ended Daylight Savings time and we’re in standard time now. That’s why there is actually less light now during the day since we’re not technically “saving” the daylight. Anyway, LOVED your video!!

You'd think it's pretty obvious to treat employees with respect but a LOT of companies, do not. So in the grand scale of things, I do believe that does need to be repeated and reminded. Just speaking on my own experience of not being treated with respect in the work place. Love your reading recommendations!

Jenn, we are in standard time now!!! Daylight savings' purpose was to save lights & electricity that people use during everyday. There's more sunlight throughout the day and therefore we would use less electricity. That means you DO LIKE daylight savings!! So vote to keep daylight savings!!

I’ve been cutting out coffee every other day, and it’s helped a lot with acid reflux! Still love the taste of coffee though, so it’s hard 😭
Ahhh that's amazing to hear. My tummy that week was feeling so much better because I wasn't pounding the coffee anymore.
@@imjennim i used to always get heartburns after a cup of joe, but i rarely do anymore since switching to instant coffee and mixing in half a tsp of mct coconut oil. I have it with milk or without based on the day. And I also almost always pair my coffee with breakfast. There's something so ritual and spiritual about that first cup of coffee, it's more than just coffee.

Jenn something that personally helped me a lot with keeping up with the news is just subscribing to morning briefings (like for NYT, WSJ, etc.)! It's a nice routine for me to just spend a few minutes each morning getting caught up :)

I agree completely with you, Jenn about consuming fast media. I find even when I read news online from websites like NY Times, I find I get distracted and can’t read to remember, with intent but jump around not finishing reading a whole article. I was inspired by your advice and decided to get a couple print subscriptions to magazines too. Long form journalism is really the way to go.

I was also tempted to get National Geographic but I don’t want to get ahead of myself, hehe. Probably like you, my book to-read list is long enough too.
Heya, im also having so many issues with acid reflux, my doctor thinks it could be anemia... im currently waiting on some blood results. In my opinion I think it maybe my birth control sprintec thats causing me issues. I dont remember having these issues last year.... Anyway hope you are well now!

Jenn! Try drinking cold brew more often to help with your acid reflux. I get the same problem too and I find cold brew doesn't activate it as much as regular brewed coffee. Hope it helps, coffee strike is good too lol love you Jenn!! 💙☕😘

Thank you for the panty recommendation! In the past year, I've lost about 60lbs, and all of my old underwear is either ill fitting or just all worn out at the seams from how much they had to stretch back then. I was planning on buying some on amazon, but there are way too many choices and when one seems to convince me, I'll always end up reading a negative review that makes me not want to buy it anymore. I checked out the UNIQLO site expecting them to be pricey, but for $7 a pair, I think I wanna try a bikini and a hiphugger and see which one I like best.

I think I can recommend a great book by Hilary Jacobs Hendel "It's Not Always Depression: Working the Change Triangle to Listen to the Body, Discover Core Emotions, and Connect to Your Authentic Self " So far (I am 2/3rds done) it's been wonderful! It's written by a therapist, it's not magic voodoo, it's a scientific method :) It helped me understand my feelings and reactions better, helped me with anxiety (I have diagnosed GAD) and made me feel better about myself.

PS: day light savings is to help us maximize the amount of daylight during winter and maximize night time during the summer. Extremely important for professions that work outdoors ie farmers, construction workers,... some of the most important people in our civilization. It’s important we keep daylight savings!!! ^_^

The New Yorker is a literary magazine -- it's not overly flowery or hard to understand -- you're misunderstanding its purpose. The New Yorker and The Atlantic are both magazines, but they're not even attempting the same thing.

Regarding your review of Leaders Eat Last: I don't doubt that you treat your employees with respect, but you'll be surprised how many leaders out there who don't (my former employer included). Some leaders think their employees owe them flesh and bones, because they gave their employees jobs. It could, in fact, be dangerous to the body and mind for these employees.
This is so important. Especially politically. If people would just listen to whole press conferences and facts from peoples mouths instead of random interviews that are twisted. This even happened to Vanessa Bryant about Kobe on a written article on PEOPLE. Writers are desperate to make a fake story.
I’m at 6:33. I TOTALLY feel you on the hopeful happy vibes in the day and despair feelings when the sun goes down. I have no clue what to do about it either, maybe evening yoga??
