I visualize the beginning of the song showing two people who has been on the roughest, hardest, post apocalyptic journey full of pain, trauma, rage, horror and darkness. (Think similar desperation of Frodo and Sam at the end of their journey) One of them starts to climb the hill at 0:30 and starts to say to the other “…you wanna take just a few more steps…?” The other person sits and says they can’t imagine taking another step, but the tone intrigues them and starts to stand and walk up in pain. At 0:58 (ish) they stand and see an out stretch of grass, life, water, beautiful sky. In disbelief the two start weeping at the beauty of it all. They glance to the right and see wild horses running, and see birds flying, a dark contrast to the bright colors in the sky. They start laughing and crying, running their hands in the grass. Around 1:53, they look at each other as the second one says “I never knew grass could be this green. I never knew there could be so much life. I never knew. … ..how can I tell my past self? How can I let them know it’s worth fighting for, when they don’t know the sky can be this bright, that the air could fill my lungs… how can I go back, and tell myself back then?” The other person grabs their hand and said “you didn’t need to. You didn’t need it, you kept going, without the knowing. You got here anyways. You kept going, even if you didn’t know what it was you were hoping for.” And then like roll credits or something lol
You know, i always kind of imagined it like that, the lyrics kind of reflect the sentiment of not the world ending, but memories of life as people move on. When i first heard it i listened to it again and again till i came up with a perfect story to go with it and i think i came up with something great. Imagine a person who lost a fight, he is power and strong, but he lost and he sits alone, he knows given time he can win, but to win would mean destroying someone he loved. And with that the remaining stregth of the soul of the one he cared for shows up and tells him that what happens next is not his fault, that he needs to get up, and even if their body gets destroyed it is the right thing to do so no one else gets hurt and then they fade away. He stands for a moment before speeding of as fast as he thinks he can to find that it is too late, but still determined to finish the fight before anyone else gets hurt, knowing what he has to do he finds strength that he never knew he had and fights of the will of a God, but as the fight is is ending the monster takes the form of who he cares for trying to ploy him into letting it live, but with tear full eyes he stabs it right in the center killing the monster and freeing the person he cares about. Grabbing them he hold them close to his chest as the say their goodbye, thanking them for everything as the fade leaving only a red gem stone behind.

before i got sick, i was part of the orchestra at my high school. i was one of the few french horn players and being part of the musical genius was my whole personality. once i got sick i couldn’t play a wind instrument anymore and my body was too weak for percussion. we unfortunately could not afford stringed instruments at my school so i had to quit. it’s several years later now and i’ve graduated, but i’ve never stopped missing the feeling of being a part of something so magical. listening to this i was immediately transported back to my days on stage surrounded by my band family and watching the director’s cues from the podium. i still miss it, but this makes it not hurt so bad. thank you for this beautiful contribution to the world, friend. you’ve made tonight easier.
your story really touched me. music is a time machine isn’t it? it can take us back to special places and times. it sounds like you had an incredible experience in your high school orchestra. i’m so glad that this piece could ease some of that pain, even for a little while. keep fighting the good fight. music will always be there, waiting to welcome you back in whatever way you can experience it. wishing you all the best, friend.
"saved from its tragic destiny, the world as we know it, still lives on. and so, everyday we contemplate its beauty as if it was the last time" just a long story short :)
I rediscovered "Goodbye to a World" about 2 months ago or so, and I remember hearing it a long long time ago when I was about 12, or 13, so like 10 years ago, and I forgot how much I loved the song, and wow this orchestra version is just making me tear up and cry because it really feels like an ode to the original and I love it..
Dayum that was sick, beautiful job 👌 Yknow between me and anyone who reads this, I personally made a whole movie/story arch with the whole album this is based off of. With that story, I often wanted orchestral versions of the songs I was listening to, like what most movie soundtracks do. This idea is what brought me here, and you friend hit that satisfactory right on the head.
I listened to it and thought of a constellation of satellites sent on a great mission: exploring new planets that could hold humanity's hopes. Even though they probably knew for themselves that they might never come back.
I love this arrangement - it’s so pretty and the vibraphone (?) sounds like it was played on stars! It sounds like it was arranged with the Undertale sound in mind
Haven't heard this version before, the very first notes had me thinking 'oh no, this is going to make me emotional'. And it did, just a little, such a good ocherstral cover, I very much enjoyed listening to this, thank you for making it, bravo!
Honestly, this could be an ending to our current world problems, as humanity takes its last breath upon the world. This could recall the last memories of everything.
While the original song expressed a world in destruction, this remix song seems to express the remaining humans rebuilding the world after destruction with hope. IT'S A FUCKING PERFECT
sounds good it's like a movie trailer or an ending where the person would come out of the enemy base alive in a fighter jet right as the base gets destroyed like Sonic Mania did at the true ending when the titanic monarch explodes or like the good ending of Star Fox 64
Hi man! really great stuff. Which plugins or Libraries you used for your production ?? I am on verge of buying orchestral libraries but confused with which one to go with.
Thanks a lot! To answer your questions, I use most of the time the BBC Symphony Orchestra VST, there's a paid version and a free version which is as good as the paid one. Tweaking them a little bit and you get a lot more of that human feel to the sound. For the drums part, I can't quite remember, but I downloaded a free drum kit somewhere from a guy here on RUclips. Have fun making music ;)
The world is unknown, it's our job to discover it..and when we found the reason whys this world exist, it's a bonus for you..but..on that moment either, you'll lost your life..

Hello fellow human that survived the end of the world :)
I listened to it and thought of a constellation of satellites sent on a great mission: exploring new planets that could hold humanity's hopes. Even though they probably knew for themselves that they might never come back.
While producing this I also thought of constellations in the night sky, so happy to find out I am no longer the only one feeling that way !
