Finally, a mature opinion on this drama! We have no idea how much money Barrett earns, what she spends it on, or how much she needs to live - it's childish and ridiculous for us to judge her as outsiders. Maybe she's saving for a house. Maybe she's trying to retire her parents. Maybe she's saving for a nice holiday. God forbid artists should give up their time and be paid for it. She owes fans absolutely nothing, and it seriously worries me that people seem to think they have some kind of cost-free 'claim' upon her to do things for them.
Her dad died when she was 9, and she went to an art school in high school that costed $62,000. Elon University is also almost $50,000 a year. She also had many lessons and coaches. Her mom paid for that on her own. She's probably trying to pay her mom back for all of that.
I followed Barrett a while back and I remember seeing her post on Instagram that during the DC run of Mean Girls people were following her home from the stage door and then I heard that during the previews for Mean Girls in NYC someone had thrown an egg in the direction of the stage door and it ended up hitting her by accident. So she has her reasons for not doing the stage door. and also if cost is in option you can send a letter to her at the theatre and also give an envelope with a return address and the cast, including Barrett, have been know to write back to fans who do that. Yo are not owed a stage door experience that is something the actors do on their own it isnt apart of the cost of the ticket or their contracts.
And to make matters worse, when she stated that part of the reason why she doesn't stage door is because she has a bit of social anxiety, there's this one b**** that's like "iF YoU hAVe AnXieTy, wHY ARe yOu EvEN iN tHEatER?" Well, excuse me as I, a theater person who also happens to have social anxiety, repeatedly smash my head against a wall for such stupidity.
a lot of actors have anxiety or are introverted or even just shy - they might feel comfort on stage but it doesn't me they are comfort meeting a ton of fans every night
And also with stagedooring in general, the actors just poured their HEART out on stage for their fans. Stagedooring is extra, it’s not required of them. And I went to a matinee of Mean Girls and I assumed going in that there would be less actors coming out than for an evening show because they need that time in between shows to recover and get food and prep for the night show. So it’s not just Barrett and there’s another reason why an actor might not stage door.
@@emmoxley6762 Exactly. Some people can go on stage and do these amazing things even if they're introverted or anxious. Maybe they can rock it with a script but get nervous when they have to "freestyle." No matter what her reasons are, the fans should respect that.
RealityBytes true. People act like they pay for the interactions with the actor, while forgetting that they pay for the performance. People are so entitled.
I👏TOTALLY 👏AGREE 👏WITH👏ALL👏OF 👏THISSS!!!!👏👏👏 I don't think that Broadway people get paid as much as everyone expects that they do, so it's fair enough that they might want to earn a bit extra 🤷
Your correct, I have auditioned for many Broadway and off Broadway and tours, and even Disney only pays you the going equity rates depending on if your chorus or featured lead or the main lead. you don't make a 9 figure salary every week like movie star names that are brought in for the shows or you have worked your butt off like the great actresses like path lapse or Bernadette peters and such. You very rarely get in a show that pays you enough to live in NYC and have three houses in different places its just not done, and even hollywood actors and actresses don't fully see all of what they are making due to studio dues, taxes, and their agents, and the actors unions, it may look all over the top and crap, and maybe it is for people who have no clue how to spend their money wisely or hold onto it, but allot of the actors and actresses i have worked with are not loaded or have the mentality to spend their money like drunkin sailers do. Broadway show actors and actresses and especially the kids on Broadway are not making allot of money to buy what ever they want, they need to be careful and so do the parents of the kids on Broadway as well.
People get caught up in the idea that because she is famous, she absolutely has to do something for charity. She is such a political activist and donates her time to helping inform other about our elections. She is a beacon of positivity. She does so much good in this world already. What she does with her money is her own business and we have no say in what she does. How would we like it if we had a bunch of strangers telling us how to spend our money? Why can’t we just let people live their lives? This is good tea sis.
I'm not a fan. She just doesn't grab my attention BUT I respect how hard she works on Broadway. It's very challenging producing the goods for 8 shows a week and there's no guarantee that she'll ever have a leading role again. If she's lucky and stays the course it may happen again or her TV/Movie career may take off. In the meantime it is important that she capitalize on her momentum and make money the best way she can. I think she's smart for making the best of her opportunity.
She doesn't stage door because she has Social Anxiety, and now that she has so many fans, it's too overwhelming to go out into giant crowds where everyone's attention is focused on her. She also lives in an apartment by herself in NYC. Rent is expensive, and Broadway stars don't make as much money as major film stars. She also has to pay insurance like Amy said. Everything costs a ridiculous amount of money in NYC. There's also no guarantee she'll get another job immediately after Mean Girls closes (whenever it does) because show business is a fickle business. She's talented, but that doesn't mean she gets whatever role she wants when she wants it. She has to save up more money because if no show comes out that has a good role for her, or if someone else fits that role better, she may not have a job for a while. She has to prepare for that.
Idk if you know this but she stopped stagedooring because she got followed home multiple times but i agree with all of your points especially the people need to chill lol
Being big dosn't obligate you to donate anywhere. I'm sure she doesn't really need the money from cameo and she will do something with it, but even if she doesn't, it's HER money that SHE earned
I was just in an adult, semi-professional, community theatre production of the Wizard of Oz and our Dorothy and Tin Man are super close and the Tin Man got a cameo of Laura Osnes for Dorothy for opening night and it was the sweetest thing ever and Laura’s video was very sweet and she said so many things and you could definitely tell that she took the time and effort for this. I don’t see everyone’s issues with this. This is something that’s so amazing and sweet, especially from Broadway actors who very well may be the most wholehearted and caring people out there.
Honestly, it's Barrett's choice. It's her life. If she doesn't want to give the money to charity, that's ok. It's her choice. Like you said, we aren't her best friends. We don't know what her rent is like, we don't know how much she has to spend on healthcare or if she needs to support someone else's financial life. People should let her live her life. The fact that she is willing to take time to do Cameo in the first place is amazing! People should applaud her for doing it, not moaning that she's not giving it to charity. It's her life.
YES! Totally agree with you here. (The only thing that upset me about the situation was when she tried to turn it into a feminist issue, when it was just a genuine general issue people had due to general ignorance about the salary of performers.) And as a New Yorker... it ain't cheap to live here, friends. She deserves to make all the money she wants. Love you, girl. Keep this fab content coming. Also -- let me know next time you're around! Would love to see you. Xoxo
100% agreed, i think the price was higher than i’d pay for it but equally you’d expect to pay more than $50 for a meet and greet for example with a pop artist, and then you don’t even get to have a conversation. at least this way you can choose what you get out of the conversation and can revisit it and not embarrass yourself lmao. idk how i feel about cameo but yeah i don’t think she’s in the wrong
Thank you!! People need to understand that everyone has boundaries. If she doesn’t feel comfortable meeting fans, she doesn’t have to! Trust me I would absolutely love to meet her. But if she isn’t comfortable, I’m not gonna put her in a situation we’re she doesn’t feel right!
Celebrities charge far more than $50 at comicons just to get their autograph. Don't even ask how much they charge for a 5 second picture pose with you and nobody freaks about that. People act like they were honored to pay it. So I say good on her for diversifying her income.
I totally agree! Plus, people pay hundreds of dollars/pounds/etc. for photo ops with loads of celebrities at conventions, and it's a similar thing (although some of the prices being crazily extortionate is a different issue). And in this case (with a video) she's putting time and effort into creating something - and that should be paid for in my opinion! She doesn't owe people free videos/photos, it's up to her, and she's decided to charge for it. That's all.
I hadn't heard of this, but I completely agree with you on it. Barrett is a goddess, but at the end of the day, she is only human. I love her, and I really feel for her, so I hope she can bounce back up from this drama
People forget actors are human too. The fact that London Heathers has to post rules for stage door because people just think they’re entitled to a part of people. These people have lives and while I’m sure they love and appreciate our support, they have their own lives to life too.
Broadway performers only make 50 to 60K a year, so she’s in the right to not give that money to anyone. Maybe she’s saving up so she can do other cool projects. Also, like you said, we don’t know if she’s a primary caretaker and we don’t know if Mean Girls has a medical and dental plans for actors. Plus, she may see specialty doctors because she needs to see for her own health. We don’t know her situation, and people should stop being horrible about it.
Katherine H. The minimum for an Equity actor (so basically anyone on Broadway) is around $2,000 a week, so the number you’re quoting doesn’t make sense, unless you mean after taxes?
@@kilimenjiro3753 Oh yeah, for sure. But there's no way to know what someone might make doing those things. But we can calculate the minimum she would make if she stayed in a show all year.
It doesn't matter the words she used to promote it and it doesn't matter where the money goes. She has many reasons to avoid stagedooring from what we've heard publicy and I'm sure there's many more stories. Not for you? Cool - you're free to donate $40 to charity without having a Broadway star do a video for you. Or do what others have done - seen her promote it, go 'yeesh, that's pricey' and not think about it again until videos about like this appear on your feed.
I don't usually watch your videos, and I don't follow the theatre fandom closely, but you've given both good insight into what's going on and basically the most truthful view point. This whole drama is the exact reason I don't follow fandoms, musical theatre especially. People get way to attached to performers. I remember hearing that back when Heathers was off broadway, Barrett would get death threats and horrible messages since she makes out Ryan McCartan in the show, and Ryans fans from his disney show he was doing didn't like that because he was "theirs". I know it's not all bad, and sometimes stage door experiences can be great (my favorite moments in shows is always coming out of the dressing room to talk to the audience afterwards, even if it's just family and friends telling me that I did well), but this just shows one of the ugly sides of professional theatre.
All 👏 of 👏 this 👏 Amy is absolutely right. We have no idea how much money Barrett earns, and even if she did earn a good amount, I heard from a student while I was in NYC that apartments usually only go as low as $500 per month. From that same student, I also heard that the average salary (of an ensemble member, however) is only about $60 per show. Frankly, I can see why Barrett might want some extra money! She needs clothes, she needs food, she needs other necessities, and just because of the fact that she lives in New York, all of that is going to be 3x as expensive than it would be somewhere else. Basically, kudos to Amy for calling some people out on this. I totally support what Barrett is doing.
I think it’s a you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t for her. To me cameo is silly and I wouldn’t spend my money on it but I’m not going to fault someone for it and I’m certainly not going to fault the celebs on there for it. If this is Barrett’s way of making money while connecting to fans then good for her! Let her do what she feels she needs to do for money, it’s no ones business how she earns it or where that money goes.
This is one of the best videos out there about understanding our idol’s privacy. I completely agree with you and I cannot believe people think she owes them something!
Fair play to her! We all have to earn money, and she’s doing it in a way that her fans and supporters get something too? I don’t see the problem personally.
I think you're absolutely right about all of this. People are only going to pay the money if they think it's worth it, so if people want to pay then why not! By the way, with the messages you buy for the new video, maybe have one or two messages from people not on Broadway and see if anyone notices.
People are so quick to attack its unreal. At the end of the day she is a human being and whilst she is famous we don't know her, she isn't our friend, she is an idol; that something entirely different and people seem to be unable to understand that
Idk why people think Barrett’s time and knowledge is not worthy, in my opinion the cameos she does are priceless, you can tell they are made with effort and that she really cares about them, it’s not empty words, she takes the time; she will try to help you out, cover your expectations and money being involved is not making it wrong. I payed for a cameo because I really admire her and when I got it I felt like she really cared. She gave me advice in a way that nobody has ever done and, most of it, she inspired me.
When it comes to celebrities I've seen different groups, those who genuinely like and appreciate the celebrity and their work, those who are bitter and jealous of other peoples success, and those that feel that being a fan means that said celebrity owes them something. A lot of people I a see hating on popular celebrities are those who just seem like their mad that someone else was successful in life and they weren't and that's just pathetic. What seems to be happening in this case is fans that believe that being a fan of Barrett means that she owes them something. That is just not true, she is a human being with a life of her own and can live as she chooses. Being a fan does not make you an employer or boss and it's aggravating seeing so many entitled fans out there that think they have more power/authority then they do. Appreciate those that you are a fan of, love them, but don't judge and try to control them because then they go away.
This was extremely mature and level-headed of you! I’m a tad bit conflicted about this still but I totally think that your point about respecting people and the entitlement that some fans seem to have that makes them disrespect actors is really important. Barrett certainly doesn’t owe anyone anything, especially after some of the things that have happened with fans in the past.
I totally agree with you! It's important to remember that Broadway stars are human beings like us and we do not own anything of them or of their time. Anyway, Barrret will always be my Queen!!! Lots of love
THANK YOU. my exact thoughts. i agree with every single point. people completely blew it out of proportion. no one's entitled to anyone's financial situation or what anyone does with their money. everyone has to earn a living, even broadway stars. she's not a millionaire. very well said, amy!!
keep in mind she HATES stage dooring, so maybe this is just her way to let her fans interact with her, because shes not a huge fan of interaction, but understands some fans want to meet her
I think you're being very mature about this. It's true what you say: people hear something and sometimes, they blow it unnecessarily out of proportion. Maybe they like the attention, or maybe they just want to be bitter; but there's no reason to just be purely negative unless someone is being an explicit jerk.
I got one about an hour after she revealed she was on cameo, and its one of the best decisions I've ever made! The advice she gave was amazing and it feels so much more personal than stage door. And if she wants ti keep the money, let her keep the bloody money! She deserves every penny!
Agree with you, remember people and vocal when they are upset you never see the majority of people who are fine with it because they mostly don’t bother speaking about it
Some cringey fan girl yelled out to Grey Hensen as he was leaving “is Barrett coming out? I’m gay!!!” and he was being sarcastic and said “yes” and those girls actually thought she was gunna come out 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ lmaoo
I feel like there’s so much unspoken drama and... a kind of love/hate thing going on around Barrett. I mean, she’s living for herself and not really for her fans as much as other celebrities are. For that I really respect her.
Honestly, if her not giving the money bothers people then those people just shouldn’t pay her for something. People who do pay for it don’t really have a right to decide what she does with the money!
Other famous people: vibing on Cameo. BWW: Imma try this out... Society: HOW DARE YOU! YOU MIGHT BE MAKING LESS MONEY OR THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY AS OTHER PEOPLE ON HERE BIT HOW. DARE. YOU. thanks for the tea❤
People need to chill, I think a lot of people just find it easier to be offended then to just encourage. Good on her, it’s kind cool how the whole cameo thing works and it’s nice for those fans that really want that.
I totally agree. It's unfair the way people are so critical of her. She is not the only person who doesn't give the money to charity. She is also not the only person who doesn't stage door (and not even the only one in Mean Girls). She is a human being and people need to chill out and remember that they aren't entitled to a part of her.
8 minutes ago I found this video. I've never heard of this channel before, I've never seen another video of yours. Now I subscribed. Finally someone with a brain!
If I was in a Broadway show (lol) there's literally no way I would be at the Stage Door for EVERY SHOW. It's 8 shows a week and I have anxiety. Broadway actors are people and they're fully allowed to say, "No thank you." A Broadway ticket means you're entitled to see the show. It doesn't mean you're entitled to everyone's autograph at the Stage Door.
I remember once upon a time people were saying she once got egged during stage door, and when they were doing their out of town try out she got stalked home and that's a huge reason why she doesn't come out stage door anymore.. apparently.
i totally understand and agree with a lot of what you’re saying. my main concern is that she may be taking advantage of some of her younger fans. $50 is a lot of money, and i don’t think that calling cameo a “virtual stage door” is an accurate representation of what it is. stage dooring by no means obligation of an actor. at all. they owe absolutely nothing to us. however, the stage door is free and obviously, cameo is not. i just think barrett could have been a little more careful with her wording when she announced that she would be joining the site.
Juliana Postrel This “taking advantage of younger fans” idea is ridiculous. Kids spend their money on $50 shoes and $50 hairstyles and all manner of things. This is just one more product they can choose to buy or not. It’s not Barrett’s job to parent her young fans.
Juliana Postrel Stage door isn’t necessarily free as it’s discouraged to stage door a show you didn’t buy a ticket to. She has a large fan base so the cost had to be somewhat prohibitive so she doesn’t get more requests than she can fill
Y'all actors and actresses (especially in theater) do not make as much as you think. If she wants money, then that makes her no different then 99.9% of people on there so why are y'all going after her?
Barrett doesn’t deserve this crud she’s an excellent actress and she is my idol and my biggest inspiration as an actress and I agree with you’re opinion on this topic, thank you for looking at this topic withstood sympathetic understanding
I think that the Cameo app is actually a really interesting and unique way to interact with talent from all over. No matter where the money goes to is not really anyone’s business unless the star makes it public knowledge. It seems like a very personal thing to get a Cameo video and as someone who has stagedoored (is that how it’s spelled?) it’s hard to get that 1on1 personal time you’re hoping for (not necessarily expecting but hoping for) I for sure would loooooove a Cameo video from any broadway star (Amy where’s my Cameo?? are you tired of the parentheses comments?) I will still stagedoor but like there are plenty of artists I’d pay to get a video from!! Erika Hennigsen sent me a video just for being a registered voter and that meant the world to me and she didn’t ask for any money for that. But even if she did I’d still pay for it because she’s giving me something out of her own time and away from her busy schedule. Does this rant make sense?? Anyways Amy love you lots and I 110% agree with everything you said. I just had to rant because I’ve been waiting for someone else to feel the same
I'm pretty neutral about it because it's her life and she has the right to decide for herself. There was just one thing that was iffy for me? which was when people were criticising her about charging a large fee and she responded by making it a feminist issue. She made it seem as though people were being critical because she was a woman making money when they were just upset about the high charges. Again, I have no strife with her choices for Cameo but that specific response of hers kind of made me 😬 but that's just my opinion.
Like you said people forget she is human and start treating her differently, non of her fan know what's going on in her personal life like she might be saving for some surgery for a family member or something but whatever it is she is human and doesn't deserve any of the crap people are throwing at her 💜
Accusing someone just because they don't want to do stage door. Don't audience realize that stage door can be extremely dangerous for the artists? People have SHOT by "fans". People have anxiety, weak immune system or are claustrophobic. You paid for a ticket to watch a play happening on a stage. You didn't pay to touch and hug and push actors on stage door
They arent true fans if they cant respect her privacy. Also Broadway or any theatre is hard work ... it's up to her if she wants to make extra cash in a totally legit way what is the issue. Self entitled assholes please cut this woman some slack and privacy!!! ... she is a human being stop being creepy and stop bashing her uuurghhh... bitching about her will just effect her health . Great vid Amy 100% with you.
Lending a bit more perspective: if you’re a lead in a broadway show the average pay is around $2,300 a week, not including taxes; and New York City has one of the highest tax rates in the US. So naturally it’s of the most expensive places in the US to live, a tiny one bedroom in Manhattan averages about $3,400 a month not including utilities. And this isn’t including daily living expenses like groceries or other necessities. One of my friends went to NYU for law school and it was cheaper for her to order her groceries off Amazon than it was for her to go shopping at her local bodega.
I completely agree. It’s totally fine! It’s not a scam, everyone knows what they’re getting. People will want to pay for a personalised video, why should she not sell them? If someone says “Hey, I’d be willing to pay $50 for this thing” then, let them x
Kristen Martin (Nessa in Wicked on bway right now) wrote an article on this app (www.theensemblist.com/blog/2018/8/17/lets-not-taint-a-beautiful-tradition) and I actually completely agree with her. The website isn't bad in theory, but it's very easy to misuse it. I don't think it's wholly bad (esp if someone doesn't want to stagedoor), but it is still a completely different experience than actually meeting someone in person (but obviously, not everyone has such an opportunity.) Of course, the very idea is something I would never utilise because it makes me uncomfortable, but that's a personal thing, not an actual diss on the website or its users, but it is a bias! However, I agree with you that no one should be criticising the celebrities that choose to be on the app, nor should they assume the celebrities' intentions -- especially in the theatre world. Broadway has a union, so wages are relatively similar from show to show (things like role and requirements certainly play a role, but not to too large an extent) so being in a popular show does not guarantee a higher income. BUT ALSO actors don't have job security so I see no problems in them trying to make some extra money to have while not in a show!
I think people need to chill out when it comes to “expecting things” from actors altogether. Take a profession like a lawyer or a teacher. You don’t see hundreds of people going up to them and asking them for photos and autographs and personalised messages [for free!!]. I know it’s probably to be expected in an acting career but I think people forget that, especially theatre performers like Barrett (and while we’re on the topic of Heathers - Carrie), are just normal people with every day lives who happen to have an awesome show life that they can share with fans. If you buy a ticket to a show like Heathers, for example. The only thing the actors owe you is your money’s worth of a musical. If they put on a good show - they’ve done their job. Most of the time they do just that. They don’t owe anyone anything more than that and I really wish people had the mentality of viewing stagedooring or meet and greets as a privilege and an honour to receive. Actors are taking time out of their lives to give just that little bit extra to fans and 9 times out of 10 they are lovely about it. You wouldn’t expect a ticket to see an actor perform for free, so why is there even an argument about whether Barrett should be “allowed” to charge for something extra on the side? It just seems like basic decency to respect her life doesn’t revolve around what her fans think she owes them.
I heard that she was followed on the way home by a crazy fangirl after stage door. I don't think the fan was aggressive towards her or tried to harm her but the fan definitely overstepped their boundaries and that's why Barrett stopped stage dooring. From personal experience at stage doors specifically the mean girls stage door the security is really great but a lot of the cast just walks home by themselves after they leave so it's totally understandable that Barrett feels uncomfortable especially considering her run in at her own home with a fan who followed her.
I don't see why people have an issue with it, it's not like she's getting people to give her money to do nothing, her fans get something out of it too. I'm sure that if the other cast members hadn't have said their revenue was going to charity, no one would have thought anything of it.

She also stopped stagedooring because she was followed home multiple times from it, and I 100 percent agree with her decision.
👏👏👏
Idk if you know this but she stopped stagedooring because she got followed home multiple times but i agree with all of your points especially the people need to chill lol
yeah and she has social anxiety so stagedoor was never fun for her anyway
AND she got eggs thrown (dropped?) on her.
cookieemonster 11 What the actual,,, heck,,,????? Why?????? I can’t believe???? people would do all those things to her????? I?????
@@mayakim5240 it was someone living next to the August Wilson theater and got irritated by the sound of the stagedoor TBH what a grump.
@@chazofalsa Why would you love next to a theater and then be annoyed by theater noises?
Being big dosn't obligate you to donate anywhere. I'm sure she doesn't really need the money from cameo and she will do something with it, but even if she doesn't, it's HER money that SHE earned
Honestly I'm super gay for Barrett Wilbert Weed
Aren't we all
Charles Lee WHEEE i think we’re ALL gay for barrett wilbert weed 😂

people need to *be more chill* about this situation

I love you 💖😂
I just came across this video trying to look for george salazar content and ended up here
Nice reference tho😂
“She isn’t thinking about fans!!!” Her life isn’t about y’all
Thank you!! People need to understand that everyone has boundaries. If she doesn’t feel comfortable meeting fans, she doesn’t have to! Trust me I would absolutely love to meet her. But if she isn’t comfortable, I’m not gonna put her in a situation we’re she doesn’t feel right!
totally agree!
Celebrities charge far more than $50 at comicons just to get their autograph. Don't even ask how much they charge for a 5 second picture pose with you and nobody freaks about that. People act like they were honored to pay it. So I say good on her for diversifying her income.
“Pay for things like... healthcare in the US” GURL PREACHHHHHHH!!!
That's all.
Alex Kelly THIS!!! $50 is nothing compared to what they charge at conventions honestly
"I just think people need to chill. Like, calm down, man." PREACH
That's assuming someone is under contract for a show the entire year. Some will leave for TV and film gigs or for rehearsals for another show.
@@kilimenjiro3753 Oh yeah, for sure. But there's no way to know what someone might make doing those things. But we can calculate the minimum she would make if she stayed in a show all year.
People always expect celebrities to be these amazingly humble saints who do everythign for everyone and just... forget that they're people
I've seen you all over theatre videos! Hi
I have a youtube add-on, that shows you the tags on a video, and I just lmao when I saw 'tea spilt', 'spilling the tea'
idk why
Amy can you do a video on spilling tea in the dark side of theater business
It doesn't matter the words she used to promote it and it doesn't matter where the money goes. She has many reasons to avoid stagedooring from what we've heard publicy and I'm sure there's many more stories. Not for you? Cool - you're free to donate $40 to charity without having a Broadway star do a video for you. Or do what others have done - seen her promote it, go 'yeesh, that's pricey' and not think about it again until videos about like this appear on your feed.
I completely agree with you. Every point you made was fair. She’s well within her right to make money in other ways
The character arc of the tea was beautiful.
Fair play to her! We all have to earn money, and she’s doing it in a way that her fans and supporters get something too? I don’t see the problem personally.
I’m living for how Amy has been editing her videos in the past few months 😂😍
I think you're absolutely right about all of this. People are only going to pay the money if they think it's worth it, so if people want to pay then why not! By the way, with the messages you buy for the new video, maybe have one or two messages from people not on Broadway and see if anyone notices.
i actually quite like the idea of cameo if they are donating it, it’s so kind. but if people don’t donate, that’s their choice and is cool too💘💘
People are so quick to attack its unreal. At the end of the day she is a human being and whilst she is famous we don't know her, she isn't our friend, she is an idol; that something entirely different and people seem to be unable to understand that
I remember talking to you about this at sitc and I had some vvv strong opinions about it then but you’ve actually kind of changed my mind now lol
Your compassion for people is so refreshing. Thank you for speaking your mind.
I 100% agree, people idolize people, but the second they do something that they can remotely twist into drama, they'll turn. I love u Amy!
YES! A video about Broadway cameos, I am so excited.
I've been so tempted to get a Wesley Taylor cameo because *he's such an icon*
he isss
wes tay is on cameo
But he only costs $10 right
Agree with you, remember people and vocal when they are upset you never see the majority of people who are fine with it because they mostly don’t bother speaking about it
Some cringey fan girl yelled out to Grey Hensen as he was leaving “is Barrett coming out? I’m gay!!!” and he was being sarcastic and said “yes” and those girls actually thought she was gunna come out 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ lmaoo
i agree with you, we don’t know her personal life and she could be struggling right now. no matter what, i still stan the queen barrett weed❤️
I feel like there’s so much unspoken drama and... a kind of love/hate thing going on around Barrett. I mean, she’s living for herself and not really for her fans as much as other celebrities are. For that I really respect her.
I’m so excited to see next weeks video! I also totally agree with everything you just said. It’s her life, her choices like people calm downnnb
i love this so so much, you said everything so perfectly :) people forget that she is a human too, just like all of us
Honestly, if her not giving the money bothers people then those people just shouldn’t pay her for something.
Maybe she was donating to charity (or putting it towards a good cause) and just didn’t feel the need to say it publicly. 🤷♀️
I fully agree with you!
ALSO I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THAT VIDEO!!
People need to chill, I think a lot of people just find it easier to be offended then to just encourage. Good on her, it’s kind cool how the whole cameo thing works and it’s nice for those fans that really want that.
Barratt hasn’t been on for a while so I couldn’t get one from her but I’ve bought one from Ryan McCartan, Elle McLemore, and Gerard Canonico though :)
I understand what she's done and why she's done it but I do think it's more expensive than it should be.
I agree with everything. Also a video about getting cameos from broadway stars sounds so awesome and I will definitely watch it.
I like how people are like "she doesn't care about her fans" when she is doing this for her fans
Barrett doesn’t deserve this crud she’s an excellent actress and she is my idol and my biggest inspiration as an actress and I agree with you’re opinion on this topic, thank you for looking at this topic withstood sympathetic understanding
You're absolutely right. The people who are complaining about this are absolute trash and don't deserve to call themselves fans.
I just had to rant because I’ve been waiting for someone else to feel the same
Barrett doesn’t stage door because someone followed her home, which is sick I feel so bad for her. The money for cameo goes to charity ❤️
I agree!! It’s up to Barrett what she wants to do
I'm pretty neutral about it because it's her life and she has the right to decide for herself.
I honestly never heard about this discourse, so this was a surprise but a welcome one
I agree with you 100%
Like you said people forget she is human and start treating her differently, non of her fan know what's going on in her personal life like she might be saving for some surgery for a family member or something but whatever it is she is human and doesn't deserve any of the crap people are throwing at her 💜
Accusing someone just because they don't want to do stage door. Don't audience realize that stage door can be extremely dangerous for the artists? People have SHOT by "fans". People have anxiety, weak immune system or are claustrophobic. You paid for a ticket to watch a play happening on a stage. You didn't pay to touch and hug and push actors on stage door
she can get her coin any way she wants idc
I love your views on this Amy! You inspire me to be a better person always
Taylor Louderman also does it but she’s under the “Charity” slide
i agree with this totally 👏🏻
I love your videos so so much I love barret too 💙 Heathers all the way ❤️💛💚💙
Kristen Martin (Nessa in Wicked on bway right now) wrote an article on this app (www.theensemblist.com/blog/2018/8/17/lets-not-taint-a-beautiful-tradition) and I actually completely agree with her.
*clap clap*
a very mature video on the situation
I heard that she was followed on the way home by a crazy fangirl after stage door. I don't think the fan was aggressive towards her or tried to harm her but the fan definitely overstepped their boundaries and that's why Barrett stopped stage dooring. From personal experience at stage doors specifically the mean girls stage door the security is really great but a lot of the cast just walks home by themselves after they leave so it's totally understandable that Barrett feels uncomfortable especially considering her run in at her own home with a fan who followed her.
Oh i am EXCITED for this
I don't see why people have an issue with it, it's not like she's getting people to give her money to do nothing, her fans get something out of it too. I'm sure that if the other cast members hadn't have said their revenue was going to charity, no one would have thought anything of it.
CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK'S(ish) VIDEO
