- You need to Descale your Coffee Machine every two - three months.
Here is some advise from a comment:
You need to leave the acidic solution sitting inside the boiler for 1-2 hours to dissolve any scale inside it, you run it through which is not advisable !
After several years, I still come back to this video. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Many thanks for letting me know.
Same!
Don't waste money on those tablets, just unscrew the stainless steel shower grill with an allen key & manually clean it. You get a much better result and it will fix the issue of the water coming out unevenly.
Outstanding step by step instructions! Thank you and much appreciated!
Thank you for your positive comment!
Thank you for posting this. I followed step by step and now i can enjoy my coffee from a clean maintained machine. 👍🏽
I am very happy to hear that. Thank you for your positive feedback! Thus makes me want to do more videos.
Very clear, revitalized our machine. Appreciate it!
Excellent review. No mucking about. Well done. Cleaning my machine now.
Great job on this. My duo is visibly clean! Thank you sir
Many Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for the Vid - that helped me a lot (I have the descaling tablets and they had no instructions on them).
Thank you for your positive comment!
Thanks for the excellent how too 👍🏻
Good guide dude. Helped me out.
You get hot water by letting it quiesce, so no lights are flashing. Then you switch the knob to the wand and press the button to select water.
You need to leave the acidic solution sitting inside the boiler for 1-2 hours to dissolve any scale inside it, you run it through which is not advisable !
Very good point. Thanks for the advise
Sorry resurrect an old comment - but the brevilles own website suggests running straight away instead of letting it sitting in the boiler.
@@Biishamonten It need some time to the Acid to dissolve the scale it is Chemistry Science, wash it away will not give it a chance to be effective, THANKS
@@mohammedshalash7842 so would you say run it through for one cycle and then just leave it for an hour and then run it through with tap water? Because if I don't run the acidic solution through I don't think the it gets through the system?
@@Biishamonten The Acid should stay in the system for 1-2 hours to dissolve the scale after that flush the acid out by water to clean the system and avoid severe corrosion of the pipes and boiler parts.
Thank you so much! Very helpful.
Hi-I thought your video was quite thorough, thank you. But I have a question. When you put the rubber stopper in the filter to clean with cafiza, was there water in the tank? If so, how does it not over flow after the series five 10 second starts and stops?
Yes. You have to have water in the tank.
Thank you! How do you change the filter?
Filter is located at on the water reservoir in the middle. Just pull the middle part and the filter is at the bottom. Put a new one and start using again. Real easy to to this.
I HAVE THIS COFFEE MACHINE AND WAS ADVISED TO USE ONLY BREVILLE CLENING TABLETS . CAN I USE OTHER CLEANING POWDERS. BECAUSE THEY ARE SO MUCH CHEAPER THAN BREVILLLE PRESCRIBED BRAND. THANKS FOR FEED BACK
Yes Breville products are very expensive. You can use other products to clean you Espresso Machine. I use Urnex Cafiza Powder or Tablets. You can get them from Amazon. I use Powder.
Thanks so much for this!
How did you calibrate the machine to stop at the desired amount?
Machine is calibrated by the factory to operate for certain period. To get the desired outcome on your expresso, you must experiment with the grinder. Depending on how fine your coffee is the texture of the extraction will change. You are looking for good amount “Crema” (Coffee Oil) on the top. Once you get the correct amount of Crema you need to use the same setting all the time. Now you can get a calibrated coffee tamper www.amazon.ca/Calibrated-Coffee-Tamper-51mm-Espresso/dp/B07FVRFGC6/ref=sr_1_6?crid=IXZ2P7LHJ9R7&dchild=1&keywords=calibrated+coffee+tamper&qid=1620575319&sprefix=caliberated+coffee+tamper%2Caps%2C158&sr=8-6 that will help. So, your Machine is calibrated, your coffee tamper calibrated and only variable is how fine is your coffee. Let me know if you were able to get the right extraction.
I don’t have the black rubber thing? Is just the stainless steel inset fine?
Hello Erika, Well, you need the Rubber plug. Thats how it prevent steam just coming out. Just try and see if it get cleaned.
13:20 where you're showing the shower head - Have you ever tried unscrewing it? I would like to know if there's plastic underneath or metal? Thank you.
Shower head is metal, surrounding black part is plastic. You can remover head part with an Allen key.
No I never tried to unscrewing it.
I removed the shower head from my Calphalon Temp IQ espresso machine and it's plastic underneath. I was shocked to see because I expected metal/stainless steel as per their customer service.
What if no water is running whatsoever?
First see if the water pump is working or not.
If it is not, you have to replace it.
I just replaced my one. I got it from Amazon: www.amazon.ca/Model-EFP5-120v-Minutes-Breville-Espresso/dp/B077ZRP3GD/ref=asc_df_B077ZRP3GD/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292943077607&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1714556354544189103&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9000855&hvtargid=pla-400240592562&psc=1&mcid=53c28af956713a608ab1f7be818f2d0b
Really easy to change.
Thank you for doing this!!!!
Pressure should be release between back flushing cycles by removing the portafilter and placing it back at the start of the cycle ( since this machine has no 3 way solenoid valve which release the pressure automatically). the way you done it ia I think a bit dangerous, you leaving the pressure building up during 5 back flushing cycle ( I could be wrong though) Thanks
May thanks for your advice. Hope others will read your comments.
Hi this is a good point you make. I done a 5 cycle backflush using the silicon disk that has no hole. After removing the portafilter there was so much pressure it made a popping sound. It was also very hard to remove portafilter from the group head. Not sure if this is normal. The manual does not state you have to remove the portafilter after every cycle to release pressure? Not sure what to do and i am concerned my machine is not getting the cleaning it should be???
I have the Duo-Temp Pro as well and I used the tablet on the silicon disk BUT nothing came out when I ran the machine which I can't tell if that's supposed to happen or not as there are no holes on that disc but I noticed in your video... some liquid is coming out. So what's supposed to happen!?
Hi Fredy, some times water will come out some time doesn't. In my case first time water came out. Other times it did not. What is suppose to do is to cclean the head. You should be fine. Thanks for the question.
I'm sure the older models had a hole in the rubber disc. My one hasn't...it back washes great, but produces pressure, so take off the porta handle slowly!
Hi Nishan, I had a Breville Café Roma, the grade under this one. I returned it because it was awsome.. 2 months. I was wondering how long did you have this machine, I am being refunded with Breville rebate, thinking about buying this one but I fear I'll fall in the same situation
i had this since December 2015. I love it. Just get this or the one above this. You will love it!
Is it possible to remove the filter head to and clean it from the underside as well ? I unscrewed the hex bolt but could not pull the filter itself. Water always comes out from one small area of the head (yours shows the same as well). Normal ?
No I do not think so. I wouldn't remove any thing. This may void your warranty
@@NishanAmarasuriya My previous machine 12 years old Saeco Aroma died and when I stripped it apart, I found the head filter encrusted with coffee crust from the inside, I was wondering if this killed my previous machine and if I could clean this part up on my new Breville. so do you see the water flowing from a dime-size area or the overall filter head ?
@@dominicklauzon4133 I see the hex bolt in the center, in my case water is flowing from one area may be 50% of the total area. That is with out the porter filter. I think it is ok, as it was like that when I got it few years ago. I was expecting it to be like a rain head shower
You can remove it, you just need to gently pry it from the white rubber seal.
@@gitbags33 That I am not sure. I am sure you should be able to remove it.
My is leaving a small drip at the back after use wonder why if I can fix it.
Only this i could think is the drip tray not set correctly or there is a clog on the drip tube. You may want to take a look at the manual .
@@NishanAmarasuriya
Thanks for Reply I’ll give a shot I’m sure it’s fixable
Does the water generally just come out of the right side of the head on your machine?
I really do not have a definete answer for this. When I was doing this video almost three years ago, it came from left site of the head. I cjange the location on the mechine, now it is coming from the back of the head. It may very well be depends on how level is the mechine.
Hope this helps. Thank you for the question.
Can you use generic cleaning powders. Breville brand tablets are very expensive. Thanks
Connie Mcnish yes you can
Thanks 👍
Thanks so much, helpful
Glad it was helpful! Many thanks for letting me know.
How often does one need to clean?
It all depends on usage. I do not used my machine often. I normally clean it every 4 months or so.
Coffe Kev say you don't need to back flush because there is no solenoid valve so the water does not go back into the system anyway. Ref ruclips.net/video/LU0Nm76aa2Y/видео.html
Nice job
How did you programme the length of the extraction?
There is no way to program the extraction. It is set by the factory. Here is what I did. You can not control the extraction time, two things that you can control are: amount of tamping pressure that you apply for compacting your coffee and the grinder setting - fine or coarse. I have a Breville burr grinder, and it is set at 10 - fine grinding but not at Turkish coffee level. Now I have two constants- Extraction time and fine grind. Only thing I have to control now is the amount of tamping pressure that i apply. There is a Calibrated Tamper (30 Pounds of Pressure) that you can buy. www.amazon.com/Espro-Calibrated-Tamper-Flat-Base/dp/B005NCKWQW?tag=brownbeanzz-20
thanks for the tip :)
Thank you for your support and appreciation!
What water filter did you use ?
William Kirsopp I have a three stage filter. Can not remember the brand.
If you want hot water you have to give the machine the chance to cool down, when the led stops flashing and turns solid it's ready. You just kept yanking those buttons and switches. I hate how to videos without any research being done beforehand.
Hey Thanks for the comment. I see the mistake that I was making. Thinaks for pointing it out.
Vinegar in the coffee machine?... It is dissolving the ruber parts of the machine. Dont recomend that...
No at all. Vinegar is diluted. So there is not harm to any of the parts.
Vinegar is recommended per the manual:
www.seattlecoffeegear.com/assets/user-manuals/breville/breville-bes810bss-user-manual.pdf
DECALCIFYING
After regular use, hard water can cause
mineral build up in and on many of the internal components, reducing water flow, power of the machine, and affecting the quality of coffee.
We advise decalcifying the machine on a
regular basis (every 2-3 months) using a mixture of white vinegar and water.
Use the following as a guide:
Solution for decalcifying
Diluted Solution (for softer water).
• 1 part white vinegar
• 2 parts cold tap water
Concentrated Solution (for harder water)
• 1 part white vinegar
• 1 part cold tap water
You're just making this up as you are going: You don't even know how to run the hot water option on your espresso machine.
Just found you clip. Excellent explanation and method to descale. I bought mine 2nd hand a few months ago and have just decided to learn how to descale. How often do you descale your machine. When you replace the filter, allowing for your situation. Or every 60 cups/2 mths? Cheers. Paul
Terrible.
Not sure what you are saying.
