GI Jack: It is annoying when the subject implied by the titles of the video take eight minutes to appear. This happens a lot on this channel. The misleading title is annoying because the main content of the video is ignored in favor an incidental topic. Those who might have been interested in the main content skip the video because of the title, while those interested in the incidental comment are discouraged by the delay.
I comment here 16 months late; this is my second viewing after just watching the video of another RUclipsr he recently offended (Canadian Prepper re: Silky Saws). Wranglestar has produced an incredible body of work. I hope it remains on course.
Thank you
GI Jack thanks your a time saver 👍🏾
What I've always felt strange about being offended is that its the only feeling *someone else* will feel and then act like it's *your* responsibility to correct it. If I am hungry, I am not going to look to my neighbor and tell him to feed me. Why is taking offense your responsibility if someone else is the one who is offended? Just my 2c I suppose. Anyways, I don't really work with wood or trees, but I still watch the videos.
I love you dan , greetings from Dubai
Was defiantly not expecting to see Dan leaving comments on one of Cody’s videos lol 🤯
How'd you get here
It's about causality. You'd address the cause of your hunger. Ergo you address the cause of the emotions that we collectively refer to as offence.
Does that make all instances of offence rational, proportionate or even real? Under a collective idea of what offence means... definitely not.
To me the extremes are calling a woman stupid BECAUSE she's a woman is offensive. Opening a door for a woman isn't. For the latter to be offensive then the assumption that I opened the door because the woman is incapable would have to be made which would be rebuked by evidence to the contrary.
Offence can be the fault of others but it can also be the creation of the "offended"... which I find offensive 😂
Good to see you supporting wranglerstars videos, I love your videos aswell your an inspiration Dan

As a woman, I am not offended because I have the intelligence to know that your base is mostly male. The fact that I like to do "masculine" chores, is my choice and I go where I find the best information. I don't care that you are talking to the majority. I am also secure enough in myself to not let myself waste time and energy being offended by an innocent comment.
I largely agree with you Julie, however, innocent comments often are grounded in ignorance and thoughtlessness. Male groups can and are thoughtful men, at least those I know personally, who recognize colloquial phrases and notions that perpetuate stereotypes, eliminate stereotypical comments. I, too, enjoy so called "masculine" chores and find a plethora of life skills to be helpful including carpentry, auto repair, etc.
I agree, I'm not real handy but I have learned several things that have helped me make some small repairs around my house. Plus I like watching Cody, he reminds me of my Grandpa, he has a very similar work ethic. Plus getting to see his adorable family on occasion lifts my spirit.
I’m the builder around our farm. Although I love building/carpentry, I realize it’s mostly a man’s job/hobby. So, I guess I just don’t expect a “man’s topics” type of channel to be geared to women. As long as the information is good & useful, I couldn’t care less how it’s presented. 🤷🏻♀️
Congratulations Julie. Im just an old carpenter but Your attitude is great. I would have loved to have had you helping me on any project. Unfortunately Ive retired but your going to go pretty far with a great attitude like that. I wish the young people would understand its not their gender its their ability to understand the old jokes while I learn the new ones. New is fine but old has seen more than the young understand. I hope this makes sense. Wishing you success.
I appreciate your comment Julie Stevens. I grew up in a clan that believed females should know how to use tools, chop wood, do basic plumbing, wiring, vehicle repairs and upkeep so that we would save money and not marry just because we wanted a man to help us. The males all know how to cook, clean, do basic mending, laundry for the same reason. As a widow I have saved myself lots of money being able to take care of myself.
1. Your “just get it done” kick you’ve been on recently has really motivated me. In the last few weeks I’ve completed probably 20 little projects I had been putting off, some of them for years.
2. Don’t sweat the angry feminists. One of my hobbies is sewing. EVERY sewing video I’ve watched on Y-tube is geared towards women making dresses, not men making ammo carriers/body armor carriers, which is what I use my sewing machine for.
How interesting. Sewing is a skill for whosoever will. We don't laugh at the taylor in Fiddler on the Roof, he's a good family man, providing for his household. Nearly all the taylors used by VIPs & rich guys in movies are men. And we easily accept that. We don't laugh at those who make our holsters and gear for the utility belt. We had nearly identical sewing kits for maintaining our Scout uniforms in the field, or nautical uniforms at sea. Mummy is not going to meet us at the next port and slave over uniform repairs and changing rating patches/flashes. People are plain thoughtless in their remarks.
One of my favorite friends is a schooled and graduated sewing machine mechanic. She is a petite, adorable woman.
Me too, I’ve found it very inspiring too and got many projects done before going on holiday, so I can just relax. 👍
well said.
though maybe you have found a niche in the youtube market and make a sewing channel for MANLY MEN! lol

Totally agree. Love old school wood work.

Well said. I like virtually all he does, but this was refreshing.
Also, I live in pretty much the same climate the W family does. So I deal frequently with the changes in wood and other structures. When I was in NJ, such understanding was not common.

Hahaha! I laughed so hard at your comment about the hateful feminist types! I love these practical chore kinds of videos that you do. I spent my childhood (and a good part of my adulthood) learning by watching my Dad do all these kinds of things, and in spite of my gender I became a chip off the old block. I am a fixer and builder, but I love being able to do woman things, and have no problem with you men folk doing your man things :-)
The majority of this video is bad repair advice though. If the gap isn't even, first you:
1- Check the hinge screws into the door frame, especially the top. If tight then proceed to step 2
2- Lift the door to gauge how loose the hinge pins are. If the top one shows wear, switch the top pin with one of the others and check again. If the pins are too worn, replace the hinges. If not, then proceed to step 3
3- Remove the trim over the frame on the latch side of the door. Place a 2"x4"x4' against the frame where the door touches it. Strike the board with a hammer a couple times. Check the gap. If the frame moved enough, secure it in place with a few 2 1/2" finish nails, or screws for a more stable repair, fill the holes with painter's putty. But if the door frame didn't move, you'll need a reciprocating saw to cut nails and remove shims, or even shave the stud behind the frame if necessary. Test the gap, then shim and fasten.
Never fix a defective frame by creating another defect. I've seen too many antique doors, matched to all the others in the house mutilated far beyond the one in this video. Take pride in everything you do, and do it right the first time.
no no it was "EVIL" feminist types. HAHAHA I'm still laughing about it.
Lord Vader Based on what? He just planed a door out of square. You have no knowledge on the subject, but you employ blind faith, instead of asking my credentials or looking up what professional advice is, versus the half-assed approach in this video. I like the guy's stuff, the reviews and projects, but this video was bad advice, and took longer than the correct repair might have.
You do you though, the last thing I'd do is twist someone's arm. Knowledge is power. France is bacon.
@@planetbob4709 I thought that when I first watched the video, but when I went back and re-watched it I thought he said hateful. Either way it's hilarious 😂
Donna Southwood Yes it is and I laughed for at least a half hour and still laugh every time I get a like or comment notification. HAHAHAHA Oh and hay I grew up with 4 sisters so as a guy I am not totally clueless.
BAhhhh you are totally right it was Hateful Feminist, but it's still funny .:)
As one of the few women subscribers, I want to say thank you for not being afraid to share your faith. I am a beginner woodworker and stumbled across your channel. I have been enjoying it ever since. No offense on door fix, to often I see people plane a door down before putting a level and square on it. More often than not in my line of work “windows and doors” it’s a sagging hinge or the framing is out.
RIGHT you are! 98% of doors that are out like that one can be fixed with a big honking screw into the framing on the top hinge.
Trey Bellah not to mention using a smoothing plane🙈
I was wondering why he didn't first examine possible reasons (hinge sag or framing surrounding the aperture), but instead when straight to planing the door. 🤔 Glad I took the time to scan the comments! 👍
If the door hinges and frame are secure and there is no signs of rot or damage, the simplest way is just to make the door fit the gap... After all the building in question is for Utility and not living in or for aesthetics. If it was me, I would have just grabbed the sander and knocked the edge of the door down, without even taking the door off its hinges... 10 minutes of work if that...
That was my first thought too. If you have a wide gap at the bottom, that tapers to wood on wood at the top, it may not be from swelling of the wood. I wanted to holler at him, "Check the hinges (maybe just loose screws), check the door frame!" The same thing could be caused by either the frame or the door not being square.
Your door is sagging! You can resolve it by planning the door but the correct fix is to fix the sag! Probably at the upper hinge the door is pulling down.
Ed Blough: Yep..Sometimes just driving a few toothpicks or wooden matches into the screw holes (coated with wood glue) will give enough purchase to pull the door back into plumb and square everything again.
I thought I was the only one with a favorite extension cord.
I knew I was a man when I realized I have a favorite hammer, favorite extension cord, and worst yet, a favorite burner on the stove.

It's so refreshing to see a RUclipsr who is Christian and willing to share their faith! God bless!
Yes, the long war on Christianity. I pray that one day we may live in an America where Christians can worship freely! In broad daylight! Openly wearing the symbols of their religion... perhaps around their necks? And maybe -- dare I dream it? -- maybe one day there can be an openly Christian President. Or, perhaps, 43 of them. Consecutively.
@misa smith well i am atheist and i just mind my own business, but hey, your opinion,i am not a weak person,i am fairly average, but i want to build a forge so i can make axes and stuff, not all atheists are societal garbage, actually atheism is on rise,25%of people in China are atheist, and about 10-15%(i estimate)in US of A.Also,we are debt ridden because your wrinkled papaya and Obama(i am centrist, pro gun but atheist)rose college tuition to 30 to 40k dollars, and an average college student works a blue collar job, because they have no deegree, and average blue collar job is minimum wage,so between 500 and 1000 dollars a month, but there are bills, for dorm/apartment,food,water,etc...so you are left with very little to invest or save,so we need to take loans, and you gotta pay an interest rate,so after some years or months, you gotta give the money back with an interest rate, and because students have very little to save, they get into debt, and then you graduate and get a better paid job,but you gotta pay out all that debt, but because you gotta feed a family and yourself, but because it leaves you little money,it can take up to 40 years to pay out the debt, that's why are we debt ridden and have to live in apartments, because you boomers take all the homes and stuff, while you duck up our generation and wonder why are we so poor and then call us lazy, that's like trying to teach the pythatgoran theorem to a dog

First thing to check on a heavy door is the screws in the door and the jamb on the top hinge. Over time a heavy door will gradually pull away at that point and the door will do precisely what yours is doing. Remove a screw on the jamb side of the hinge, then run a 3-1/2" screw through and into the framing, it will pull it back and possibly solve the whole issue. Now you check the reveal and see if you need any planing. If you don't put nice long screw in, you'll be duplicating this job in another year or so.
Thank you for the tip I didn't think of that.
This was the first thing I thought. You could resquare that entire frame up with screws into the other side. The bottom of the door was out about the same amount that the top was contacting.
As per my comment, he went wood butcher before checking the hanging hardware. I insert toothpicks coated in wood glue before the 3.5's.
Well he did say that he doesn't know what he is really doing with the door and that he's not a pro
Glad I checked the comments first murphymb, because that's what I was going to post. I don't believe I've ever had to shave a door. His way worked, which is fine for a shed, so I'll keep criticism to a minimum....even tho it's a bunch quicker our way.
Whenever a door sticks always look at the way the door is sitting in the opening. If you can avoid it you never, never want to plane down the lockset edge of the door. Chances are that the door has moved away from the top hinge locking the lockset edge. you can always set the top hinge deeper thus pulling the door away from the opposite jamb. Hope that makes sense!
That makes sense. I have a bathroom door that is giving me grief and I know exactly why. It is not the door. It is the framing to that entire wall. Apparently, it is another area the builders of this place cut corners and used staples. The place where I live doesn't have 16" on center studs, even on perfect 48" wide walls. So, in order to hang my TV back when I first got it, I had to do some "beat it to fit and paint it to match" engineering.
The problem was that back then I didn't know this place was also put together mostly with staples, literally, too. I have since learned that it truly is stapled together. I had to rebuild the stapled on edge 1/8" piece of cheap paneling they counted as a top shelf in my kitchen cabinets to rebuild the inside of the cabinet. I wanted to keep my green countertop. The "carpenter" I asked about the work said he would have to tear it all out and put in a new cabinet and a bunch of other stuff. Nope. I rebuilt the frame, installed my own top shelf that will hold all of the canned goods I want, and fixed another problem with the loose wobbly cabinet doors and another with the sagging top and another problem by removing the 3 billion staples that had been holding that flimsy 1/8" sheet of paneling up along the way. It is now the second strongest thing in my house after my workbench. So, in case of a tornado, I will be in one of the two, clutching my favorite tools to start rebuilding asap....preferably underground.
Anyhow, that 3/4" piece of plywood I put up before I did all that to put the TV up: I used the plywood as a sort of scab to be able to still use the studs on the edges and the one stud that was 22 1/2" on center. Guess what? That stud in the middle isn't actually attached behind the wall. I don't think it ever was. So, my solution to the problem was based on the assumption that it was attached as most people like the framing on the walls in their homes to be. The weight of the plywood has weighed that wall down on one end. The place just can't handle real plywood because the framing is so lousily "attached" here. It's definitely a "fixer upper" house and I will.
Most people fail to understand that even brand new buildings will settle just within a few yrs. I was going to say something about it in my first comment. He should've checked the door frame/jamb first.
Brandywine6969 we do that in commerical metal framing applications. Fire resistant plywood or fire resistant 2x12's it's called "Blocking"
Ham68 This was going to say this as well, but it's important to note that this was not a house or probably even built to be a resilient structure, as it was merely a workshed.
It's probably settled quite a bit, and it could be easily fixed with some shims to train the structure to settle back to the way it was.
If gravity is having a negative effect, simply overcome that, by getting the weight to redistribute itself.
I have a hinge knuckle bender that does the trick for me, almost always. Got it from Fastcap, I do a lot of metal doors.

That's all fine and good, as long as you don't come knocking on my door to spread the word. So many freaking religious preachers come knocking on my door, I've had Buddhists, born-agains, Jehovas witnesses and Mormons. Re set your door frame try not to plane the door, always check hinges and frame first.
YES! Assume door was hung, and swung correctly at some point, even when door is not square, but fit jamb with even reveals. Sometimes jamb pulls away from framing, sometimes hinges pull away from jamb, sometimes door pulls away from hinges. Always start on hinge side first. Usually, tightening hinge screws or adding long screws on top hinges solves most of the problems. Sanding or planing door is always plan of last resort.

My father never so much as threw me a baseball. GOOD FOR YOU & YOUR SON! Me? I've tried to be the best father & grandfather possible, to try to break the mold.
I hold Paul Sellers in high regard. Wouldn't want to offend him, his video teaching is the best.
And he never had any contact with Wranglerstar in his life as far as he knows so hard to to correct really. Thanks for standing in there.
Paul Sellers is the reason I got into hand tool woodworking and I absolutely love it.
Why don't you fix the hinges rather than plane the door?
instead of using tape to write on a tool box, get a sharpie marker in the correct color. Usually for most tool boxes I use a Silver Sharpie, and it works great, easy to see, and doesn't rub off. I use this on all my tool boxes, and a lot of other stuff too.
Quick Tip: **IF** you need to change or remove "permanent" marker writing, get some 91% rubbing alcohol (regular 50% rubbing alcohol will NOT work). Use the 91% and a rag and it will wipe right off, some porous/textured surfaces takes a little elbow grease to get the marker off, but they will still clean off.
On a side note, Alcohol is also great to use on hoses and other rubber parts, when you are trying to force it onto a barb or etc. It makes the rubber really slick, and once it dries a rubber hose will hold on really well. I always keep a couple bottles of 91% alcohol in the shop, use it all the time for all kinds of things, keep finding more uses all the time.
FYI: The first step in fixing a sticking door is NOT to start planing/sanding/sawing down the door slap. First look at the hinges, especially the top one. Often the screws have simply gotten loose and backed out or the the wood behind is no longer sufficient to hold the door. Tighten all the hinge screws and check alignment then. If needed, put in longer screws to reach back to better wood.
THEN if the door still sticks it's time to shave down the door slab due to swelling.
planing the door isn't going to last. you need to fix the underlying problem as to why the door isn't square to the door frame any more.
therealxunil2 yea, I was thinking he should look at the hinge side. Maybe the top hinge is sagging.

MR W. A couple tips that my dad taught me for door sticking. Bees wax or soap rubbed along the door and frame will reduce the amount of friction and that will last for a few years between applications.
The "bearings" you saw are spacers for the hinges, they also act as bushings.
Good tip for using a multi tool is to dip the blade in cold water after each plunge makes the blade stay sharp much longer keeps it cooler!
I think I love you even more. Now I know you read old English literature, family worship in the morning, and quoting CS Lewis, look up to the good Saints. God bless
There is always a danger when commenting on a situation without having all the facts. So, I won't do that. What I will tell you from personal experience is that Paul Sellers is a kind and generous man that spends a great deal of time imparting the storehouse of woodworking knowledge he has accumulated to as many people as possible. Having taken woodworking classes from Paul during the time that he lived here in Texas, I can assure you that he is the same in person as he is in his current videos. The instruction on traditional woodworking hand tools that Paul delivers is with a quiet confidence that comes from decades of study under master craftsmen and honing his craft so that it is immediately apparent that the man is the genuine article. Not pretentious, but undeniably, an authority on subjects of fine woodworking. Cheers.

I'd love to have a door I could plane. My interior doors are hollow cardboard and exterior doors are metal and Styrofoam. Modern construction...yuck
The door is falling from the hinge side. They're either coming loose or the hinges have bent. It's also possible that the stud the door is hanging from is being pulled to the side.
The Revolting Man; You got it..Sometimes just driving a few toothpicks or wooden matches into the screw holes (coated with wood glue) will give enough purchase to pull the door back into plumb and square everything again.
I wish I had a man like Wrangler to show me these things. My dad was always busy with anti-terrorism stuff, and my grandpa didn't really do this kind of stuff. It kind of makes me feel sad that I don't. Especially since I want to have my own ranch at some point in the near future. This is why I absolutely love watching your videos, WranglerStar. It's definitely a highlight in my day
Told my boss once while being talked to for offending someone "If he was offended he need it" yup got wrote up
maybe he just don't want to spend time with a somewhat unsympathetic religious guy. I know I wouldn't.
I watch for your awesome family videos, and all the fun tidbits I pick up and can surprise my husband with ... oh you need "channel lock pliers? OK honey here ya go" Plus I love your manly manners clips!
I like watching your channel because it reminds me of my dad and how he used to do things the old fashioned way. He was good at doing almost everything and enjoyed the old ways.
You may want to widen that latch hole a little to allow for expansion, so that IT won't cause the door to be jammed shut in the wintertime .... ;)
Also ... I would paint/stain and totally seal the exposed wood in that door and frame to prevent moisture from creeping into the wood if at all possible .... and with how much the door frame and door are currently off in their alignment, check to see that the structure is sitting flat and level, not settling or sagging to one side or another and pulling the door frame out of square.
I would love for you to bring back the bible study, even on a second channel or different platform. As someone who is interested in learning more of the bible and not having a good resource for discussion/talk about the stories in the bible i think many in my situation would love that opportunity. Thanks for another great video!
Yes, but on a different channel. (Cody, of course, can do what he wants. I just make the suggestion).
20:24 "we think we are so advanced that we think we are so different human nature doesn't change a whole lot" wow just got a new perspective on life.
In the episode wranglerstar reads mean comments you said that most of them are from christians ive unsubscribed from your channel and will never recomend your channel.
What do you have against the truth?
well im christian and christian people are very nice
So are you Christian
Would you get offended if I said that the old door hinge has bent inward causing the gap to close to a point where the door sticks on the top, and the only thing you needed to do was pull the pin and then use a hammer to tap the top (and maybe the middle hinge if there was one) hinge wings back, quite common on old door hinges. I had the same problem with my bathroom door, in my home, just pulled the pin and tapped the hinges back which opened up the gap and gave me a smooth opening door again.
This channel has not been in my feed for a while. I am happy it's back . I enjoy watching
You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True Power is sitting back and observing things with logic. True power is restraint. if words control you that means everyone else can control you. Breathe and allow things to pass (Warren Buffett)
Quick question. Why would you plane the door when it's the frame that is crooked? Now you have a crooked frame and a door that is no longer square.
IronKnuckles BrewBeast; amen..Sometimes just driving a few toothpicks or wooden matches into the screw holes (coated with wood glue) will give enough purchase to pull the door back into plumb and square everything again.
@@cratxn1 nice tio
Was washing my truck while this vid played in the background. When I finally started listening you were talking about Israel wanting a king, and how the Bible has been preserved for us. Thanks for being a Godly man, and not being embarrassed about our Lord.
This came to me and although maybe harsh, it's intent is that of which you have described before. Homesteading looks like a beautiful, prideful, challenging, inspiring way of life, and firm handshakes to you for all you have achieved. This issue is complex and not easy to read, so any accusations I make could be wrong. With that said, I firmly believe and understand Human development is further enhanced with the more social diversity available. It appears your home schooling curriculum is very diverse, but I believe socializing with peers is an highly unacknowledged benefit of pubic schooling. I do recall you mentioning something about 'Jack just came back from camp', which is great, although how often does he get these 'social breathes'? I use the terminology 'social breaths' because despite whether someone is living in the slums or a utopia, stimulation will slowly fade the longer you're exposed to the same environment. If Jack doesn't get enough 'social breaths' to re stimulate himself, he could 'asphyxiate'. To reiterate I'm purely talking about social interactions, interactions that vary from finding your place in a friend circle, being bullied, being the bully, social hierarchy, girls, conflict, rebellion, etc. I might be wasting my time here, and I apologize if you've read this far and it was, but looking at him reminds me of myself as a child.
I would NOT have shaved the door first. I would check the frame for being plumb also. I know this is late for your door planing to fix a door sticking. I was a finish carpenter for several years, but a carpenter for a much longer time. I would try hitting the door frame on the hinge side, using a three foot long 2 x 4 and a single jack(small sledge hammer) at the place where it is sticking. That may be all you need to do. That will pull the door away from opposite side. The gap on the door knob side should be almost the same now. That door frame is probably nailed, and not with screws to the 2x behind. Because the out-building is very old, tweaking the frame is quicker than planing. But this method sure works well on most sticky doors with wood frames.
I love your content and wanted to let you know that although I am very anti religion I respect what others do, just not a fan of when people try to push their views on other but with that said, I enjoyed your talk at the end of this and can appreciate your dedication to your faith. It seems to come from a very humble place just as you come across in your vids. And I like the end of your other vids too. Godspeed!
"If you never offend anyone you can never truly be honest."
This type of logic goes really well with his parenting strategy.
I sure hope that Paul Sellers was just to busy when you wanted to meet up when you were in a London and not some snobbery. You have always credited Paul Sellers and if it weren't for you Cody so never would have subscribed to his channel
I dont think he is 'in London' and I don't get the feeling he isn't a religious mentalist too.
There plenty of folks from Wranglestar's page commenting on Paul's page now.
When pointing this video out to Paul Sellers, his son replied this: "Hello, Thanks for pointing this out. We had several people tell us about this, and we appreciate you doing so. We never intended any discourtesy to Cody (Wranglerstar). We checked our emails and don't have any record of interacting with him, so we aren't sure what this is all about. However, my dad (Paul) did respond to him via a comment on that video, but it appears Cody decided to delete it, so we are unlikely to be able to discuss this or come to any kind of conclusion. This whole thing is regrettable and we aren't sure what Cody was hoping to achieve by the video he posted ..."
I can not imagine that Paul Sellers is snobby. But he probably is British like Cody is probably an Usonian. ;-) I honor and value the differences. -- Dirk
@Radio Ray it is Usonian. Just learned that term myself recently, and thought it would fun to use it.
Wranglerstar, I love your videos and especially your appreciation of old techniques and tools. I have always admired the hands on tools of the past and processes relying on ingenuity rather than brute force approach. I’m 22 and currently live in my car, but I still carry around a hand planer,bandsaw... and about 600lbs of other tools. Craftsmen for life!
Keep on keeping on. People like you are a dying breed, your videos bring new life to tools a lot of people my age especially might never know exist.
May I suggest an A/C outlet outside near the door. (GFI of course), a cheap hose rack to coil your extension cord on, and a bit of oil based paint around the edge of your door to block moisture. Worked for me. Cheers
you could have just put a bigger screw in the top hinge and probably fixed your problem with the door.
Jlamarche20: Yeah..Sometimes just driving a few toothpicks or wooden matches into the screw holes (coated with wood glue) will give enough purchase to pull the door back into plumb and square everything again.
I see your shirt now says "anglerstar". Are you switching to fishing content? ;-)
I like it
Being offended is a choice.
Agreed that's why it "take Offense" and not give offense
So is being offensive though... Unless you're ignorant and offensive I guess. But then again, when your ignorance had been pointed out to you, being offensive goes back to being a choice.
Well no, "being offensive" is not the choice of the offender, because the only way that their statements can be deemed offensive is by the subjective judgement of the person on the receiving end which is an opinion, not a fact. It's highly subjective because not everyone views a situation the same. So for one person that finds a statement offensive, someone else may find it harmless. At the end of the day, it's not transmitter's choice to be offensive, but the receiver's choice to be offended based on their subjective bias. Whether or not someone personally finds another offensive is irrelevant because it does not magically equate subjective feelings with objective facts.
Being offended is a subjective feeling; it being your choice is an objective fact.
So if I called you a colossal, pompous nob head, that's your responsibly not to take offence? Doesn't sound right to me. I would say I have a responsibility to be aware of how you will receive it.
Sean Hanna But see, there in lies the problem: "doesn't sound right to me". I could care less what sounds right or wrong to you, because that is subjective. Now you have the right to form your own opinion, and you have, but your reality does not necessarily represent THE reality, nor should it be treated as objective fact.
I never said it was the receiver's responsibility, but their choice to be offended. To say it's their responsibility would imply they are being compelled to form an opinion, and they are not. They choose to have an opinion and that opinion is subjective. Because of the latter, you cannot form an objective ruling on the whole based on the wildly variating subjectiveness of individuals' feelings.
And while it may be common courtesy in society to be mindful of what you say and be considerate of the receiver's feelings, it is not however a responsibility that compels the transmitter's speech or writing, as that would be a violation of their right to free speech and expression.
The only exception to this rule would be a call to action, as that is no longer considered a discourse of intellectual expression, but a declaration of action against another entity, which is why that exception is neither allowed nor tolerated in most laws to ensure physical protection of all parties involved.
My dad always tell me toothpaste is always more useful than just brushing your teeth with. He always keeps a tiny too with toothpaste in his toolbox.
Long time viewer, newly subscribed. So refreshing seeing a man who isn't ashamed to talk about his faith. May God bless and protect you and your family. Best wishes from South Africa. Keep those videos coming!
Latch pin latches should always be on the inside not the outside.
Robert Alexander Thats what I said. The latch pin latches are on the outside of that door.
The door was obviously originally used somewhere else previously. Probably the interior.
Or, if youre trying to keep your door from blowing open and letting critters in, it does its job pretty well.
+Bryan Morgan
"Latch pin latches ... on the inside ..."
Now I understand what you and the other respondents are saying about this, but I have a question. This is a workshop door, so he's not inside the door very much. If it was me, I wouldn't care a lot about the door rattling while I was in the workshop; I'd want to keep the door from rattling for those days and weeks I wasn't using the shop. So having that latch accessible from the outside seems right to me.
Or is the real point that the latch pin is for locking the door, and some other remedy should be used if the requirement is to keep the door from rattling?
I found a really weird that the pin was on the outside too but it makes sense in that if he needs to lock it when he is away from it he can that might be the logic behind whoever put that door up 70 years ago
Being offended is a choice
6:27 "Super skookum", eh? Keep your stick on the ice!
We turned one of those barn style sheds into a cabin. We had to hire it done, because we live over 300 miles away, and my husband's work schedule wouldn't allow us the time to do it ourselves. The men we hired did a beautiful job! But with all new things, there are a few issues. When we hung blinds on the windows, one set wouldn't fit, at the bottom. Hubs wants to cut the blinds, which I've had some experience with, and it didn't end well. I think we should sand the window pane down, and re-stain it. We still have stain left from building the cabin. Thoughts?
Frost heave? Had an office built on a slab. Every year the building would shift and one of the doors would jam. Also had a flooding problem in the spring, so I did some landscaping to direct water someplace else. Door hasn't jammed since.
I was too bored to last long enough to find who you've offended.
Me too!
Same... 23 minutes of nonsense.
It was in the first minute
Within the first minute nothing about anyone being offended was mentioned. Even the comments section are drawing this out.
B Randall Wellborn long story short he copy's somones content and he didn't understand why that person would be mad at him
Don't take offense with the Englishman we are all a bit eccentric.Maybe he was being sarcastic which Americans don't understand our way.Anyway you are a good man
And both love their stereotypes and prejudices. -- Dirk
As a woman I appreciate all of your videos, very knowledgeable and helpful for me to learn.. I have never felt offended by your videos... the hateful juice is very enjoyable to watch you suffer through it.... lol
Please don't put me in your mean comments. :) I'm a handyman and I find this issue a lot. A quick fix to try is to get a 3" screw in the same style as the hinge screws. Remove a screw on the top jamb hinge. Use an impact driver and drive the 3" screw through the hinge and through the jamb until it bites into the stud. Many times this will pull the top end of the door up and over and straightens out that reveal, and restores smooth operation of the door. No cutting, planing, re installation and shimming, etc. It seems like doors have a tenancy to sag that way over time due to much of the weight on the top hinge.
"Cant you have your own thing? We have our own thing, why cant you?" absolutely WELL SAID @WrangleStar. I am sick and tired of all the well male dominated areas being infiltrated by the female "Feelings" arena. I came here to find male wisdom. And we need more of that. Men and women learn differently I and I NEED that as a male. Thank you @WrangleStar.
Thanks for sharing about Family Worship. God bless and stay in His Word.
Add ginger to your juice, and it will change the whole thing, not too much ginger, because then it would be hard to swallow! And by the way your lucky, my wife wants me to have a tall glass 3 times a day! So stop wining!!! lollllll
Knowing just *how much* ginger to add is critical. Add a dab too much and it's compost time unless one of your animals will eat it w/o calling the vet for an emergency.
or just add rum... ;-) just kidding...
Congratulations on getting your extension cord back! Too funny that the door opened right up :). We put some frozen mango, banana, avocado as well as Apple in our smoothies and they taste really good. The frozen mango makes it really cold which also helps! It's the only way I will eat things like kale, spinach, etc.
That's a wear bushing. Old school but in my opinion they are far better than some of the hinges made today. With these, after time when your door starts to sag and hinges began to wear, you just replace the bushings instead of the whole hinge.
If you struggle with the bearings being loose a good tip is put the pin in without the door on then put a small peice of masking tape down the hinge to hold them. After that just pull the pin back out and hang the door. 👍
I just might have to get a juicer. I never eat veggies but I know I need them in my diet so this just might be the answer I'm looking for. Thanks for the unintentional help lol.
If you can stomach the vegetables, it's better to eat them whole for the fiber. It helps you feel full. I'm not a huge fan but I've been adding at least one vegetable to every meal and I've noticed a huge difference in how I feel. The 55 pounds lost in 6 months is just the icing on the cake. Mmmmm.... Cake. Yes. Cutting back on the carbs is painful. Lol
Sir I guess you are a good person maybe not awfully smart when it comes to repairs but you are really good at bragging about your possessions
His skill set is a massive amount of money that one has wonder how in came into.
I think the door is back to front. the latch pin is on the outside lol
Wooden doors, especially exterior doors, should have all 4 edges sealed to keep moisture out. Helps to keep door from swelling as much with seasonal changes. Also noticed there is no door stop trim. That will help prevent rattles as well.
Another great video.
The use of "hand tools" vs powered tools... not every place has electricity readily available. Even battery operated tools still takes electricity to charge the batteries. True hand tools, also allow you to be more precise than the powered tools.
I'd say something about the door but, not going to be "offensive" to anyone.
Nah, don't assume offenses. Life is too short, and frankly, Paul Sellers really doesn't seem the type to be unreasonably cantankerous. Probably, it's just some miscommunication.
There was certainly no offence my side of the pond, Duke. It is easy to just pick up the phone and find out though, And it's even a free call these days.
I'm a fan of both you and Wranglerstar, Paul. You make great videos.
Well, it's good that you're not offended. I don't think Cody is offended at you either. You're right about calls being both easy and free, but if Cody already made an attempt at communication, it's your turn. If you didn't respond to him favorably at his first attempt, it isn't his job to chase you down again.
That's not the real Paul Sellers by the way. That's a fake account with 0 subscribers & no videos; however, I would also like to mention that I highly doubt the real Paul Sellers was offended or anything negative towards Cody.
You should feel lucky to have offended someone I can't even get them to notice me
Casually drops skukoom likes it’s not Canadian. I see you Cody.. I see you.
Link to the Paul sellers video for how to make the diamond stone thing would be nice.
What a great start to my week. I've been watching your videos for a few months now and always feel inspired to work on my own small homestead. You could try adding avocado, olive oil or even coconut oil to your daily vegetable drinks--might take the edge off.
If I could go back in time I would have taken Spanish instead of Latin and French. Spanish would actually be useful to an American.
Spanish, and French, the big colonial empires, honestly though if you don't use it on a regular basis you will forget it, took two years of spansih in high school forgotten most of the stuff that is not useful in my daily life
Jm: unfortunately somewhat true
Kevin Robinson or to get cheaper dental and medical procedures if you live near the border
Once you've studied Latin, other neo-Latin languages will become a lot easier to learn, a lot more quickly. That is Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, and even Romanian, they all have a lot in common, since they all come from Latin, given that Spain, France and so on were all provinces of the Roman Empire. In this respect English is quite an hybrid, in that it originates as a Germanic language, but was heavily influenced by Latin and especially French, so that a great deal of its vocabulary derives from Latin, particularly scientific, legal and literary jargon, and all of the specialized terminology in general. Like the word _aperture_ which comes from the Latin _apertura_ meaning an opening, as Cody pointed out
Noooooo what makes real sense is for those coming HERE to assimilate and that means learning to read write and SPEAK ENGLISH.
Thank you Cody. Excellent 👍
Great talk at the end of the video 18:44.
I'll second that
I'll third it. He would make a fortune as a motivational speaker.
5:36 I died a little inside, when you chewed grooves into those beautiful hinges with the channellocks.
Another great Wranglerstar production! Thank you, Cody! I don't know if this has been raised yet in the comments, if so, I apologize, but it looks like that door was hung "inside-out". The mechanism for using that vertical latch is on the outside of the door, which means you must be outside the shop to operate it... almost surely this door was repurposed/reclaimed from some other use - such as a double door shop front, or similar where you could get extra security to lock the door since there might not be a very secure central post against which to lock both doors... anyway, you might consider turning the door around so that the vertical latch operating mechanism is on the inside. Of course this will mean considerable extra work to cut the hinge slots, strike plate, and the latch holes (vertical and horizontal), as well as potentially refinishing/painting of the door itself... if you decide that's too much effort, you might want to plug that hole you drilled in the top of the door jamb so that you or someone else cannot inadvertently lock the door from the outside, thereby locking someone in. (I know it's a glass panel door, so you could always get out in an emergency, but...). Perhaps just a bit of weather stripping would solve the rattling problem and reduce draftiness in the winter? Also I noticed when you planed the door down, that you did not seem to check the width at the top and bottom to see if the door itself was actually out of square, or if the jamb was out of square, or if the hinges were just loose and/or not hung square/even on the jamb... further, a curiosity to me was the screw holes you seemed to uncover as you planed the door - made me wonder what might have been attached to that side of the door in its previous life.
