As a Costa Rican, the video is wrong about what the bills are worth. Bills are thousands, not millions. You can see on the bills themselves, the full number is on them on the top left corner. The "10MIL" for example, in the center of the bill literally means "10THOUSAND". "Mil" is Spanish for "Thousand", not short for "Million" as is sometimes used in English.
A quick shorthand for assessing values in colones is that every 1 000 colones is less than $2. So a 10 000 colones bill is less than $20, probably around 18-19 depending on the exact exchange rate for the day.

    Hi
Do you get change in Colons if you pay in USD?

Hi Maria! Thank you for watching. Yes, when you pay in USD, you will ‘always’ get the local (National) colones currency back. 😉😁

@@matthewmarknichols so would you recommend converting currencies if I’m there for say about 3 weeks? I don’t like to use my credit-unless I’m stuck.
      Thx for sharing! 🫶🏽

Yes I would. I’m sure you’ll find a way to spend/use your change and will still have your American dollars if you didn’t spend them. Hope that helps. 😉😁
