I'm a huge resident evil fan, it's my most played game franchise. The gaming community mostly hates these movies for not being canon. But I think these movies are super fun and I love Milla Jovovich personally. I watch these to be entertained and I own them all.

Resident Evil, 28 Days Later, the Zack Snyder remake of Dawn of the Dead... the 2000s was a gold-mine for both S-tier and even low b-tier zombie films.

idk about that. the soundtrack for the movie is a masterpiece but it's nothing like the game's soundtracks that mostly focus on orchestral music with an occasional electronic element thrown in. what the Resident Evil movie soundtrack has is industrial metal sounds with heavy electronic influence. it's closer to what was popular for the Nu-metal genre at the time. I came here for the laser hallway, the death elevator, Michelle Rodriguez being iconic, Milla Jovovich being iconic, "you're all going to die down here", "The Dead Walk!", and jump kicking dogs. But other than that this movie is totally forgettable :)
I had the cd of this movie. One day, I was listening to it while doing dishes, and it got stuck on the first track. Which is the Red Queen saying You're all going to die down here. And it was repeating over and over. It scared the crap out of me.

this movie is basically completely stand alone. which is why it was great. it's a movie that is inspired by the games and had it's on flare. the other films then try to lazily copy key points from the game which just end up not reflecting well. but most people agree that the first RE film is the best of the live action series. but i'm sure we'd all love to see reactions to all of the films because if nothing else they are a fun watch

These movies are the 2000s equivalent to 1980s action flicks. Silly stories, over-the-top action, and bad ass one-liners. If you lived through the 80s and loved that kind of movies _(or if you didn't live through the 80s, but discovered their treasures as "guilty pleasures" later in life),_ there's a pretty good chance, you'll love this franchise, too.
I would LOVE to see you guys watch the rest of the movies in the franchise. If you accept that they’re not the best movies and just have a lot of really cool action set pieces and badass lines - you’re in for a good time

I love watching the RE series. I actually got stuck in an elevator at work (security on nightshift), and no one was around. The governing mechanism malfunctioned and stopped between the 9th and 10th floor, I was there for about an hour until fire rescue showed up. Let me tell you, my ass hasn't been in an elevator since.
If you are interested in the idea of memories and if they change who you are you should check out the TV series Dark Matter. The main characters are a group of people that get in an accident that erases their memory. They quickly discover that they are NOT very nice people... They struggle with if they should try to continue being the people they were or start being the people they want to be.
I actually did a report in college on this movie. It was about how to properly use color to convey tone and how to build up to whatever big bad your movie has. I got an A lmao. I've never played the RE games, so I've always loved the movies, unlike most folks lmao. The first two... maybe three are the darkest in terms of tone and the actual hue of the movies. They shift from this to action, which was fine to me. Some are definitely better than others, but, to me, they're all enjoyable in one way or another. In terms of how fast folks turn, I'd assume it's like any other virus. At least in the first movie. How someone is affected (how long it takes them to turn) would depend on the persons immune system or something. And then the virus just got released. It hasn't had time to mutate or anything. And then Rain probably needed 3 or 4 shots of the cure. She got bit A LOT lmao.
My first entry into the games was Biohazard and Village... Have been hooked totneh games since I was a kid, watching my uncle play the first ones. This movie also kinda mirrors Alice In Wonderland, if you think about it.

cool detail about the film: the zombie Alice kicks while running away from the dogs is actually the films stunt coordinator. also, the entire scene with Alice exploring the dog kennel and fighting the dogs is cut from the televised version of the film for pacing and time slot reasons as it actually does nothing to advance the story and most people wouldn't realize they were missing anything with it removed.
In case no one told y’all, the director went with the Alice in wonderland theme. Milla’s character is Alice and wakes up in a horror wonderland. The red queen, Spence is the Cheshire Cat. He’s mysterious and no one knows what he’s about. Kaplan is constantly worried about time, like the rabbit. It was a fun twist.

Canonically in the games it took like a day or two for them to turn which you can verify through the diaries like the itchy tasty document. In movies it’s more like 2 hours.
In the first zombie attack scene, the one with the broken ankle and foot all bent sideways was NOT special effects. That was the actual person dislocating his ankle and walking on it like that.

This movie was just for me when I was young, I loved it and than having slipknot play at the end!? Cherry on top.
Resident Evil and Underworld were my goth/rave faves growing up, also i LOVE the video games, the movies dont follow the same plot and honestly it makes them easier to like because they created something fun. also love love LOVE Jovovitch, she def was an awakening for me lmaooo but yeah i can't remember if youve seen Underworld, i think youd like it

I remember going to see this when it came out, I went alone and there was a middle aged man sitting next to me, when the dog scene happened he literally jumped out of the seat, clapped and screamed all at the same time, I felt so bad for laughing but his reaction was priceless, now whenever I see someone reacting 1st time to that scene I'm just waiting 😂
